Miss Big O

This is nothing like the all-vegan donut shop it replaced. The donuts and coffee are mediocre and the service is not great. Not somewhere I’d visit again.

Dishonest About What’s Vegan

I was under the impression that all of the donuts at 9th Street were vegan & after chatting with the owner I believe it was abundantly clear to him that I was mistaken; however, rather than clarifying he allowed me to purchase non-vegan donuts anyway. The next time I went the owner was wasn’t answering my questions about ingredients so I looked online & learned that only a few of their donuts are vegan. He didn’t directly lie about donuts not being vegan, but I don’t trust this business.

As far as quality: the donuts taste fine, but not great. I wouldn’t bother with 9th street when there are so many better bakery options.

Not worth a detour

I understand the other reviews saying it’s nothing special after trying their vegan donut. To give them credit, they are vegan AND gluten free and I understand how difficult gluten free pastries are to make. They had about four different flavours.

The first two days we went in they didn’t have any and so we tried it on the third day. The donuts cost $3.50.

The service was lovely and even gave us the donut on the house.

The taste of the donut itself was not great. Definitely spongey and it crumbles very easily. As soon as we took it out the bag it had half fallen apart.

Overall, 3 stars. The best part about this place is the servers. The women who work there are lovely

Pros: Service, Vegan options

Cons: Taste of donut could be improved, Quality of donut

We buy our donuts from a few different bakerys. Even Harmons. It's chancy but it's paying the bills.

nothing special but glad they have vegan

Miss the Big O that used to be here. 9th street was nice enough to have vegan options but just a few boring cake-style. Mine was a little dry. Latte was ok. Staff very friendly so that is a plus.

We purchase our donuts via another bakery and take no responsibility for your liking it.

Wow, I'm surprised at this response from the donut shop. It should come as no surprise that customers of the former "Big O" donuts are going to be disappointed when the freshly-made, delicious and gourmet yeast donuts that they came to love are replaced with mediocre premade cake donuts brought in from somewhere else. Look at Guru Donuts in Boise or Voodoo donuts in Portland for great examples of shops that care about quality in their vegan offerings as much as they do in their non-vegan offerings. I think that vegans in general have grown tired of low-effort vegan options.

Pretty good

Not worth making a special trip for but these were tasty. Almost more like a sponge than a doughnut to be honest but still good. Rounding up from 3.5 stars

Fine. Not great.

While I was glad to see about 6 vegan donut options, they were all the same donut base, just with different frostings. The donuts were definitely gluten free in taste and texture. The icing was extremely sweet and not super flavorful. The employee said they’d be adding new vegan options soon, but honestly, unless you’re really craving donuts, there are better sweets options nearby.

Pros: Several options

Cons: Underwhelming donuts
