Best place for vegan pizza - Edit
I think I’ve been here at least 4 times in the last month because I just love their stuffed vegan pizza! I am usually not a fan of vegan cheese so I usually order cheese less pizza at other places. There’s something about the stuffed crust style that makes it seem very close to real cheese to me. A restaurant worker said it’s Daiya, but I don’t taste any coconut-ey flavor and the melted cheese texture is fine.

If you crave deep dish - Edit
Ordered: Vegan Spinach and Mushroom
Read moreIf you have been craving deep dish this will do. Zachary’s crust is nice and thick, the sauce was tasty (a good sauce is very important for deep dish). I added chili oil to top mine off when I got home to give it an extra kick. This vegan pizza could be improved with a meat substitute (sausage would be my preference), hot giardiniera as a option, and a better nondairy cheese, not sure what their nondairy cheese is based with but two non vegan people who shared the pizza with me said the cheese was too coconutty for their tastes, and the other said it tasted like daiya and they wished it didn’t, I don’t share the same sentiments but I understand. If I was looking for a place to order pizza for a group that was mixed with omnivores and vegans, I would keep this as an option, on my own I see myself looking elsewhere to try something new instead.

stuffed spinach and mushroom! - Edit
I’ve been eating the deep dish spinach and mushroom pizza here my whole life, so I love that it’s able to be veganized. the only con here is that the vegan version is a bit pricier, but still delicious!

best pizza - Edit
Millenium was over booked on Friday night, went accross the street to Zachary's. Had the sausage pizza without sausage and a Federation beer. Best vegetarian pizza I've ever tasted, wow!
Read moreWent back again to try the vegan cheez pizza which was awful. The cheez is too soft and runny, has a weird flavor, and the saltiness is off. My young son describes the taste as vegan sour cream, he liked it better than I and was able to eat 3 slices the rest got thrown out. Also never get the artichoke hearts they are marinated in a strong acid which does not work with a mild vegan combination. If we come back I will get real cheese or no cheese, not the vegan cheez!

Really good - Edit
They make great vegan pizza, and I like the artwork on the walls. I had been a fan of this place since long before I went vegan, and I was pleased to find out I could still enjoy their pizza once I became vegan. Happycow is a great app but I do wish that they would let you give non vegan restaurants five stars, because this one deserves it.

Great atmosphere, good options. They created a half meat and half vegan pizza for me and my date.

Small favors - Edit
tac0-flavored-kisses was spot on with her or his review. If you are sociable, you are almost certainly going to end up here (or possibly one of two other locations). Back in the early 80s, this was the default choice and casual pizza Mecca for local college students who continue to come today. It wasn't until "middle age" that Zachary's offered Us anything. While only "okay" and while they might aspire to something better, I'm thankful that it isn't socially, dietarily isolating.

Decent vegan pizza - Edit
Zachary's really isn't a place for a vegan. Having said that, sometimes you are stuck going for work etc. and if that's the case, at least you know you can get a decent, yet pricey, cheeseless pizza. I mean, it would be nothing to write home about but it's not bad. A little plain and lacking a little salt without the cheese but that is easily fixed with a little salt and red pepper flakes. In real life, vegans need to improvise when out with non-vegans. I ordered the spinach and mushroom pizza sans cheese and made it work.

Cons: expensive, long waits, not great for vegans

Dream come true - Edit
I thought that deep-dish pizza would never happen for me, as a vegan. This place made my dreams come true.
Read moreThe deep-dish pizza here is AMAZING. Lots of ingredients to choose from, fresh, delicious - just the way I remember it.
Note: a deep-dish pizza takes about 45min to cook, so calling ahead isn't a bad idea.
Staff is knowledgeable about what veganism is.
Pros: Vegan deep-dish pizza!
Cons: Serves meat
