Old-school Nostalgia Vegetarian Restaurant Feel...

Had been coming here to enjoy my vegetarian lunch for 6 consecutive days as there isn't much good vegetarian eateries around Joo Chiat area.

Great menu with variety and affordable pricing. They offered daily specials (Satay Bee Hoon, Chicken Rice, Bak Ku Teh etc ...) and western food which isn't in the menu.

Food is delicious. Price is similar to or maybe cheaper than Food Court pricing (no GST, no Service Charge).

It is a good place to have simple and quiet lunch in a cooling place.

Good service.

Variety

Good that they served varieties of vegetarian selections. However - tend to be heavy on msg. Fried carrot cake slices were very thin. Ventilation needs to be improved as all our clothes are stink with kitchen smell. Toilet not friendly as someone was bathing while we need to use the toilet. The walking area to toilet is oily and wet too. Porridge listed is actually rice and soup. Not the broken rice kind.

Pros: Variety

Cons: Heavy Msg , Poor ventilation

Affordable decent meal

Tried most of their handmade dimsum. Fresh? Yes. Soft? Yes. But other than that, nothing special as the taste has no kick.

Friendly and patience lady boss and crew as I repeatedly confirm on vegan items due to the nightmare experience with New Fut Kai's miso soymilk steamboat (they provide mock fish with dairy in it!)

Huge disappointment was the orh nee; nothing but sweetness. Lacking fragrance taste.

Oily fried rice with mock char siew and frozen beans. Taste is subjective as I dislike but my son likes it.

Fried carrot cake does not comes with crispy outer skin and yet it was super oily.

Lor mee comee in a super huge bowl! Beancurd was crispy with consistent taste. Hope they can maintain the standard.

Pros: Veganised dishes

Cons: Economical price

Food so so

I had the black pepper udon and dumpling soup. Requested no egg, milk and mock items. The udon had a rather strong bitter taste, and a bit oily. The dumpling soup comes with 7 pieces of dumpling was quite good. But the soup is just so so. Overall the food during my visit this time didn’t impress me much. My last visit was quite a pleasant lunch where I particulate liked the porridge. NOTE: Helped a pair of mother and daughter translate as the server can’t speak English at all

Pros: Fast service , Friendly staff

Cons: The server can’t speak English

good stuff

Great to visit a long serving restaurant in a different part of town. Delighted to meet Singapore ambassado Amy here. She also helped with local language which was good.
We shared satay (actually Niamh doesn't share), porridge, olive rice, carrot cake and dim sum. Washed down with some lovely chrysanthemum tea.
The food was all pretty tasty, I especially enjoyed the rice and the porridge. This was Asian porridge, rice and veg not oats.
Although not in the city this is a short MRT ride and is worth supporting if you get to Singapore.

Pros: lots of vegan, staff, nice setting

quick service

The total amount of time it took to serve our food - fried sweet and sour abalone, abalone with seasonal veg, mapo tofu, and white rice - was around 15min MAX. That is very very fast considering everything appears to be made on the spot.

The waiters are very friendly, and because the dimsum was sold out we only had the Zi char dishes. They were a little too oily/gooey for my liking, but that’s what would’ve been expected from a Zi char place. Even so, the oil did not overpower the flavour of each dish, which made up for the overuse of potato starch.

Pros: quick service , friendly waitresses, good flavour

Cons: oily

Not moderate.

This place is expensive or moderate to expensive ! Again like I told for Loving Hut, if you compare it to other places, it's three to four time the price of most other veg places in Singapore !
Three little steamed buns cost 3SD there, this is the price of a meal in some other restaurants, some of the dishes cost more than 10SD... I rarely paid more than 5 or 6SD for a big meal in Singapore. For a few years the price of food is going up in Singapore, some reviews should really be updated !!
I didn't eat there (due to the prices) so I can't give any other comment.
