Excellent service and ambience, food so-so - Edit

I thoroughly enjoy the ambience and service at White Dog. The food is high-quality but there aren't enough selections suitable for vegans or people who aren't able to eat dairy products or red meat. Nearly everything seems to be made with butter, and there's apparently no option to leave it out. Olive oil is just as tasty, far more healthful, and tolerated by nearly everyone's system. I wanted a hot meal on a cold night near the performance theater where my party was going after dinner, and the only options without dairy or red meat were the cauliflower and the "impossible" burger. I dislike plant-based dishes that pretend to be red meat. The cauliflower was thoughtfully prepared, but for my taste the sauce was too sweet and too sour, which might not have been a problem if it had not also been too copious. I'm disappointed that such an otherwise wonderful restaurant doesn't have even one hot entree that's vegan and as tasty, subtle, and imaginative as many an entree on the menus of, for some examples just a couple miles away, Bar Bombón, Vedge, Charlie Was a Sinner, or Pietramala.

Just okay. - Edit

I asked the waitstaff for a vegan menu (because that’s what other users and their own website said) and they said they didn’t have one. There were pretty limited options and not clearly marked vegan. The tofu egg sandwich was really good though!
