tucked away in the back. beautifu. - Edit
Ordered the lunch special which is two options: tofu or fish. i chose tofu (bottom) and my mom fish (top). the vibe of the restaurant is very traditional and cute, tucked in the back of a building and it feels very homey. the lady that runs the restaurant was the nicest woman ever! and the food was to die for! it was the most delicious meal i’ve had in japan so far. also the presentation of the food and the restaurant is just so perfect.

Lovely small family cafe - Edit
We went there for lunch. There's only one item on the menu that constitutes lunch, and it has a vegan version as well as one with fish. The food was delicious and diverse (3 small dishes). Desserts are vegetarian but not all vegan.

Phenomenal - Edit
Absolutely delicious food. I chose the set menu with 3 deserts and a drink (2500 yen). It was more than worth the price. 100% recommended and would go again.
Read moreThe staff were so kind, despite them speaking little English and I little Japanese, it was easy to communicate. Also, the atmosphere was so cute and peaceful.
One of my favourite meals, the food tasted so fresh and clean. I liked that the dishes were more interesting than the regular vegetarian options one might get. The delicate flavours were balanced so well whilst working harmoniously together with the stronger ones.
Pros: Delicious food, Lovely staff
Cons: Limited seating (I had to come back way later)

Magical. - Edit
This treasure is owned, hosted and the the food created by a sole woman who is lovely and interested, asking us about our trip and recommending places to visit. - really friendly and welcoming.
Read moreThe menu is a choice between a set meal with desert or a set meal without.
They have one option with fish and one option with tofu (vegan)
It is served on a tray to you and is stunningly presented, the colours are beautiful with edible flowers.
I had a peach and apple juice as well which was so tasty.
The salad was served with a smoked dressing and I will dream about that dressing for years to come…
So healthy and nutritious. I am sad it is now finished!
Follow the pebbled entrance as the other review says!

Lovely setting, delicious and wholesome food - Edit
If you're ever near Nijo Castle, this cosy place with an authentically styled Japanese setting and a peaceful atmosphere is definitely worth stopping by. They offer a vegan lunch menu that comes with vegetable soup, a really tasty salad, and fried rice and tofu with a ton of fresh roasted vegetables. Wholesome and fresh food that is prepared with great care and beautifully presented by the super friendly and helpful staff.
Read morePossibly vegan friendly desserts, though we didn't order any. Just ask which ones use no animal products.
Restaurant is kind of tucked away in the back of the building, passed the interior pebbled pathway.
