I aften landede vi i den veganske himmel her på Mallorca, da vi besøgte Villa Vegana - et af Europas første 100 procent veganske hoteller.
Read moreStedet er grundlagt af Jens og Miriam fra Tyskland. De er veganske rockstjerner i deres hjemland og har bl.a. udgivet den skønneste kogebog med alle deres opskrifter fra stedet, som vi købte med hjem. De er samtidig helt nede på jorden og simpelthen så hjertevarme og passionerede.
Deres hjerter banker i den grad for dyr, og man bliver straks mødt af de to sødeste hunde, når man ankommer på parkeringspladsen. De har desuden flere store kælegrise (de tre seneste har de lige reddet fra et slagteri), en kat og en and.
Hotellet har otte værelser, og vi fik en fin rundvisning og så et af deres fine værelser med udsigt til Tramuntanabjergene og til hotellets dejlige poolområde.
Det første man bemærker ved ankomsten er den helt særlige ro, der er på stedet.
Restauranten kører med forskellige temaer hver aften bl.a. russisk, mexicansk, skandinavisk og italiensk. I aften var temaet orientalsk. Og under det gamle oliventræ med lyskæder nød vi en sublim 4-retters menu.
Vi startede med pitabrød med hummus og spicy oliven. Herefter fulgte den lækreste rødbede carpaccio med baba ganoush og “vegansk æg”. Til hovedret var der marokkansk tagine med masser af varme krydderier og cous cous med bl.a. mynthe, rødløg og peberfrugt. Til dessert den lækreste krydderkage med frosting. Mums siger jeg bare. Det var helt sikkert den bedste veganske restaurantoplevelse, som vi nogensinde har prøvet.

Villa Vegana is an absolute gem in the middle of nowhere! Tiny retreat which is definitely worth the trip it of your way for, the have a drinks menu with all sorts on and then dinner is different each night, we went on ‘Hawaiian night’ and had bread with aioli, jackfruit pulled ‘pork’, courgette and cucumber soup, a ‘tuna’ poke bowl with the ‘tuna’ - no idea how they got the texture so good - made from watermelon(!) and pineapple and coconut crumble for pudding. All that for about €30.

In the top 3 best vegan restaurants we’ve ever been to (we live in London so we’ve been to a lot!). Located in the Majorcan countryside the setting and view is sensational. The hotel & restaurant is 100% vegan and the food is out of this world with each night themed around a different country/continent. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and have built something truly special with passion and love. There are dogs, cats and pigs wandering around loved and cared for by the owners. It's was more than a little walk for me, heading from Inca. However, it was worth it. The hotel attached to this venue charges 120 euro a night so they are not catering for take away here lol.

Hinzu kam, dass ich im Urlaub noch nie so schnell so entspannt wurde und mich so wohl an einem neuen Ort gefühlt habe. Einen großen Beitrag dazu haben natürlich die ganzen Tiere (Sheela & Django, Leni & Frida, Trudi & Tyson, Leonore the duck.... ) geleistet. Die Entspannung der tierischen Mitbewohner hat sich gleich auf einen selbst übertragen.
Die Lage der Villa ist sehr idyllisch - im Landesinneren zwischen Oliven-, Mandel- und Feigenbäumen. Um uns herum war es ruhig und abgeschieden - nur Vogelgezwitscher war zu hören. Die Berge am Horizont und die grasenden Schafe boten eine schöne Kulisse für lange Spaziergänge. Wer liebe Menschen und köstliches Essen mag, wer Tiere streicheln statt essen will und wer Erholung sucht, dem kann ich nur die Villa Vegana empfehlen. Wir waren definitiv nicht das letzte Mal dort!

It's a beautiful place up there. We had breakfast at a sunny day in November there. And we really enjoyed it. The owner was very friendly and the small buffet offered everything we needed. Freshly made bread, fruit salad, yogurt, marmalade, cheese, avocado, different spreads and salads... And the coffee was great, too. Our almost 3 year old son was excited about the animals running around. We had a great time at the Villa Vegana and I will definitely come back one day.

Villa Vegana is a wonderful location. Dogs and pigs are walking around, beautiful nature surrounds you. They offer an individual 3-course menu (35€ for external guests) every night (expect Wednesday and Thursday - they are closed) with a different theme / origin. You should definitely make a reservation beforehand! We had a Russian menu which consisted of pieroggi stuffed with sauerkraut, beetroot aioli and farmers bread (as an amuse bouche), 1. course was a refreshing okroschka - a cold soup - topped with vegan egg salad. Maincourse was a lentil stuffed cabbage roll with kind of a red wine jus, dessert a chocolate cherry cheesecake. Everything, really everything, was mindblowing delicious! Very finely spiced and arranged. Need to visit when in Mallorca!

If you’ve ever read about destination getaways, this was one fantasy come to life. We had to pinch ourselves as we ate one beautiful, satisfying, tasty vegan dish after another. As an experienced home vegan baker and cooker, I found the food both unusual and unpretentious. We were served a fixed menu of a pre-appetizer, then a small plate side offerings, an entree, and finally a dessert. Every offering was a favorite including herb balls, bread with sausage and smoked aioli and cheese sauce, and a noodle beef-vegetable stew, the latter slow cooked five hours. On our night, all the food was Georgian (Russian) themed. The owner asked would we like our hazelnut dessert delayed being served, so we could extend the evening - we did. Service was excellent and enthusiastic; setting was modern and sleek.

Villa Vegana is personal home where you can rent rooms. [edit by staff- see ToS]. Their home is located in a community in the hillside outside of Palma. The two owners specialize in making vegan dishes from many different countries around the world. The home is very nicely appointed and the decor is quite amazing. The swimming pool and garden overlook the bay of Palma - beautiful. Owners are German but speak Spanish and English. You must email or call to get pricing information. According to the owner their vegan dishes focus more on indulgence than on health.

The perfect place for your vegan holidays in Mallorca - Edit
Only at 20 min from Palma de Mallorca, in the Serra de Tramuntana, Villa Vegana is a beautiful detached house, with 3 rooms, where you can enjoy also their tasty and delicious international vegan cuisine. Miriam and Jenz, the owners and chefs, make you feel comfortable and almost home! We stay for three nights last April 2014 in the Master Suite room and it was perfect, we recomend this vegan place in Mallorca to everybody!
