Really pleasantly surprised!

Half of the menu is veggie or plant based, was really impressed. Good deals on for Oktoberfest like a drink, bratwurst and fries for £14. I had the pretzel which was absolutely delicious, and the fries, they use vegan mayo for the dips. Peach Melba creme brulee was absolutely delicious but tiny for £7.50. Staff were really lovely and fun chat.

A little sour

I’ve always loved Pilot beers, but I left feeling a little sour after this visit. I came in after 10pm just wanting a pint, but was told I couldn’t order at the bar and had to take a table instead. We had a couple of beers, but were surprised to see an enforced 12.5% service charge added on top.

For a city like Edinburgh, it felt a bit like a tourist rip-off policy—especially when all I wanted was a drink. To be clear, the staff were great, but adding a 12.5% charge onto an already expensive pint feels like taking the proverbial.

Maybe the food makes it worthwhile, but I won’t be back just for a beer.

Pros: Staff, Beer

The 112.5% service charge is a disease now widespread in the British hospitality sector

Great beers and very friendly to vegans

All the beers are from Pilot brewery and are vegan. While the food is not all vegan the staff are very helpful in identifying what is vegan (avoiding dishes all cooked in the same fryer). The food is excellent and prices are very fair. the team are very friendly, efficient, and helpful, and the beers (with two taps on rotation) are superb, with interesting experimental brews.

Pros: great food, great beer, great staff

Cons: nothing
