Fresh and yummy dim sum

A delightful fine dining experience at Vegelink North Point.

Excellent dim sum that is served fresh. I highly recommend the mushroom and truffle ricesheet roll (cheung fan) and won tons in hot and spicy sauce.

Definitely worth a visit.

Pros: Fresh food, Menu has vegetarian and vegan options, Friendly staff, English menu

Cons: On the pricy side

Good Chinese restaurant with store attached

This place is fairly easy to find on Java Road - there is a sign overhead and pictures at the entrance, directing you upstairs.

The restaurant is a comfortable vegetarian Chinese one, with a nice calm setting. This is much quieter than the nearby Three Virtues.

There are not many staff that speak English here; however, they have told me they do not use egg, and on the lunch a la carte menu they indicate those dishes using dairy. So by default, on the lunch a la carte menu, if there is no dairy sign, the dish should be vegan. I was told the lunch set menu is not vegan.

I had some vegetarian BBQ Chinese buns which were delicious! We tried a lot of vegan versions of these and these are among the best. Tried a spicy stir fried tofu dish (similar to mapo tofu texture), also tasted good. Recommend the translucent mushroom dumplings with truffle! 5 grains dumpling was OK - nicely presented in the lotus leaf, and tasted healthy. The tea served was a delicious fried/roasted rice green tea. Good value for lunch.

They have a small shop attached, with food items similar to that in Batata Greens (sauces, frozen dumplings, frozen vegan fake meats, vegetarian instant noodles, seaweed, vacuum sealed mushrooms etc) and cosmetics.

Absolute highest value for money!

Had a FEAST here with a group of friends for a veggie meet-up. It was only $168, but the portions were HUGE and we had around 8 courses. Swear it was the portion of 3 meals per person!

Everything was pretty yummy — nothing mind blowing, but it was pleasant, and not overwhelmingly greasy like most Chinese veg restaurants. Highlights were the double boiled soup, the soy knots, and most importantly, the thousand layered apple pie pastry. I was SO surprised by how good the dessert was. It was so good I’d actually go back JUST for it. It was so insanely flakey, I couldn’t believe it’s vegan! And it’s not too sweet!

Also....the wasabi flavoured deep fried fusilli was such a surprising appetiser.

Beautiful vegan dinner set

Update: Dinner has always been difficult there if you want to be healthier and eat less as they serve a fixed set menu of over 10 items. Recently they started serving a smaller dinner set for HK$60 during 1800 to 1900. Takeout of this special dinner is available from 2030-2100.

Environment: Elegant, quiet, clean

Food: Dishes are marked vegetarian and vegan clearly. Staff are also trained well and will be able to substitute any dishes. Creative presentation and excellent taste. No five spices (buddhist friendly).

Service: Friendly, attentive, genuine

Price: Medium-high range

Pros: Food quality has always been consistent. , Dim sum is available every day.

Cons: Lots of mushroom types (I don't like mushrooms) 😅

Good effort!

Good Chinese style food, I had shrimp dim sum which was nice. The prawn rolls were very glutinous. We tried to confirm several times for everything to be vegan etc but they did speak little English, we weren’t ill though so we think most things were! The tofu was good, and the sticky mushrooms too! We didn’t have noodles but they did look good! It was inside another building not easy to find but worth a trip for a veggie Chinese!

CLUELESS WAITRESSES

There was a family at the next table the last time I ate at Vegelink. They explained to waitresses that their young child is SEVERELY allergic to dairy. I was confused why they were communicating back and forth so much (over 15 mins) as there were dairy labels on the menu. The family told me that EVEN DISHES LABELLED AS VEGAN CONTAIN MILK. We asked the waitress if this was due to cross-contamination, which would be understandable as this is a vegetarian restaurant. However, she said that it was not due to cross-contamination, and that dishes without the dairy labels will contain cow’s milk. Not only that, but the waitresses are completely clueless and ignorant when it comes to the difference between vegetarianism and veganism. My family ordered a cheesy spaghetti bolognese (with obvious dairy cheese on top) and we were told by a waitress that it “did not contain dairy”. I told her there was cheese in the dish and she responded “oh really?”. I also ordered a mock meat satay dish which came with satay sauce. Even though it was listed as vegan on the menu, I was very skeptical at this point and asked if the sauce contained dairy, to which the waitress responded with “there is a little bit of cow’s milk in it”. I spoke with the manager who confirmed that the waitress was wrong, and that the satay dish was indeed vegan. Even though I love the food at Vegelink and have been a long time customer, I will not be returning due to my last two experiences. The staff are seriously disappointing and clueless when it comes to veganism.

Pros: Great for vegetarians

Cons: “Vegan” dishes are not actually vegan, clueless staff

Restaurant & grocery store

We had dinner here one Sunday and they said they only had a "private kitchen" menu, which was around 250 per person ( 10% service charge) for 8 courses.
There were a wide selection of food including hot and cold starters, Chinese soup, entrees and dessert. Dishes contained mock meats. All very flavorful and delicious. Most dishes were shared but there was more than enough food for all of us.
They also have a large vegetarian grocery store next to the restaurant.

Pros: Good food, Vegelink supermarket

Cons: Expensive, No Alacarte option for dinner

Vegelink, Hong Kong

That was a little bit different. I rocked into this joint this evening. I was told that they only do a la carte for lunch, in the evening its the set menu which was hk$198. 10% service charge was also added but that may not apply on weekdays (I've no idea).

I asked if they could do food without eggs, milk and honey. I was told that some of the things on the set menu would have to be changed to suit me but it wouldn't be a problem.

It was lots of small thing, maybe a dozen different courses, all very impressively presented. This is no cheap and cheerful offering, its aimed a bit further up the market than that.

Way too much whey!

Great concept.

Lovely unit.

They have invested a lot of money in the business.

......but many of their products contain whey from cows - so buy & eat with caution.
