Delicious - Edit
We had the Inari, Vegan Beef Yaki Udon, and Tofu Teriyaki Lunch Box. All was delicious and filling. Endless complementary tea top-ups, calm ambience, and polite staff. We will be back!

Beautiful Bites of Bliss - Edit
The first thing you notice here is how beautiful the food looks – each piece of sushi is a little work of art! It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to snap a quick photo before digging in. The flavors and textures are just as incredible as they look, with each bite offering something unique and delicious.
Read moreA quick heads-up: if you have any allergies, definitely ask the staff for guidance since they aren’t marked on the menu. But everyone is so friendly and helpful that it’s no trouble at all! Prices are a bit on the higher side, but for the quality and experience, it’s totally worth it. I’ll happily make the trip to Kerrisdale again for this place!
Pros: Beautiful sushi, Delicious food, Great service

Very good! - Edit
We didn’t order very much and I think it was about $100 with tip for the two of us. We had been recommended to order more but we had just finished bubble teas and weren't very hungry. Waitress was incredible so friendly, chatty and made us laugh. She recommended local favourites, we got Shoku Rolls, Paradise Rolls (very sweet like dessert almost), and ‘Salmon’ oshi. Really enjoyed the Oshi had never tried that before! We also had matcha ice cream for dessert, portion was quite big to share.
Read moreWas surprised to learn the owner is not vegan, but has another restaurant that has both regular and vegan sushi and felt there was enough demand for it to open a fully vegan restaurant. I love that!

Worth it - Edit
I spend most of my time in the lower mainland but Kerrisdale always still feels far for some reason, but it is always so very worth it. It’s not far off the Arbutus Greenway if cycling out for sushi is your thing. Everything about this place from the atmosphere, to the staff to the food is excellent.

Vegan beef dinner box!!! Enough said - Edit
If you read this review and don’t order the beef dinner box, shame on you. Shame. In all seriousness though, you’ve gotta try it!! You won’t be disappointed. The drive from Bellingham to Vancouver just to visit Vegan Shoku is always worth it. Okay now stop reading and just order the damn bento box!😄And don’t forget to order a decadent oshi roll

Excellent sushi - Edit
I’ve been to a restaurant in person, got take out and also ordered a big order for a party. All the non-vegans were all over the sushi :)
Read moreI find the rolls very creative. I have many different ones and was not disappointed. The eggplant starter dish I amazing, too.
One time take out took longer than normal but otherwise the service is reasonably fast. The space is cozy.

Best Vegan sushi - Edit
Authentic flavors, huge selection, and everything was fresh and high quality. Great customer service and everything was immaculate, will definitely return. Favorite roll was the crunch roll, perfect layers of crunchy and creamy, and the spam roll was full of umami, least favorite was the spicy tofu roll (wish it had been cooked or fried, tasted like soft tofu straight out the package).

Huge Menu, Amazing Vegan Sushi - Edit
Vegan Shoku is fantastic! We keep coming back to try new things because the menu has so many options. The Oshi are beyond delicious!!! We also visited for a special valentines dinner, served by the chef himself. 10/10 would recommend.

Cannot recommend this place enough!!! - Edit
I had been wanting to come to Vegan Shoku for a while and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. I had the chicken bento box and my partner had the beef one. We also shared gyoza. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Non-vegans wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference! Definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive up from Bellingham. I will be back for sure!

THE BEST SUSHI!! - Edit
Went to Vegan Shoku for the first time tonight and was BLOWN AWAY!!
Read moreI absolutely loved how it was “classic” sushi rolls but made vegan. My husband and I tried so many rolls and each one was a hit! I highly recommend the rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, beef teriyaki roll and Philadelphia roll. I look forward to our next trip to Vancouver. This will be our new go to restaurant. The staff was also so kind!

Vegan Shoku was incredible. It's exactly what I've searched the globe for, amazing vegan versions of traditional Japanese sushi. I'd come visit Vancouver again just to go here.

Re-creating the classics - Edit
This restaurant has lots of great reviews, and I agree! But what stood out for me is that they re-create some of the sushi rolls and dishes that I haven’t had for years. For example, making a vegan California Roll, or salmon maki. Most sushi restaurants that do vegan just stick to making rolls with veggies, but this restaurant has pulled out the stops so you don’t have to compromise. All the usual sushi rolls and it’s all vegan. And they taste great! Love it!

Exquisite experience - Edit
The food is delicious, creative and beautifully made. The menu is quite expansive with almost too many choices. It is very obvious the chefs are artisans and very familiar with vegan cuisine. These are far more than typical veggie rolls.
Read moreThe price is a bit high but certainly within the range of fine dining. My wish is that the chefs consider a vegan omakase prix fixe menu. The quality is certainly at the level where such an offering would be warranted. Definitely worth your consideration

Vegan spam sushi - Edit
Ok, I am not a sushi expert. I can’t tell you exactly what we ordered, but I loved it. I somehow doubt spam is a traditional sushi ingredient but it’s sure tasty. The vegan cheesecake we had for dessert was pretty good too.

Cozy small place with various options! That said, if you are looking for an exceptional sushi experience you might be disappointed (if you have been to Japan or excellent Japanese restaurants before). Otherwise, it is really nice that they are serving fully plant based sushi!

Amazing! - Edit
This restaurant is an hour away for me but I travel down because it's the best sushi! Obviously everything is vegan like the agedashi tofu (where dashi sauce typically has fish sauce in it at omni Japanese restaurants), so it's nice to be able to order everything without checking the chef first. The sushi is amazing and I can't wait to go back again.

VEGAN SUSHI in Kerrisdale!!! - Edit
Wow, finally a 100% plant based place in Kerrisdale!
Read moreLovely staff and delicious food, reasonably priced and beautifully served in a cosy setting.
Seeing this new gem in my neighbourhood made me SO HAPPY! I've only visited once so far (this afternoon!), and the Tofu Teriyaki Lunch Box I had was very tasty and fresh. I'll definitely be going back and adding more to my review!
Although there are many sushi places in Vancouver, including in Kerrisdale, I hardly ever get to eat any as most restaurants offer only "vegan options" and so, you either have to trust them that they do prepare the vegan dishes in a separate area or you have to ignore the chances of cross contamination... Besides, I genuinely hate the smell of fish and seafood, so I can't really enjoy even a fully vegan option if the whole restaurant smells badly... A fully plant based sushi place is a real treat!

I've been to Vegan Shoku many times since my original review, and I continue to be impressed! I've also taken a few non-vegan (as well as vegan) friends there, and they all like it a lot 😁. Thanks, Vegan Shoku! 🙏🏻

Best vegan sushi! - Edit
I visited Shoku from Australia in July 2023 and I can gladly say that I haven’t had better sushi anywhere else. I believe I had the “salmon”, “tuna” and California rolls. Service was fast and the flavours were incredible. The vegan meat/seafood was very realistic.
