Soothing - Edit
International Caféhouse atmosphere. Frequented by Lokals and tourists. Very soothing with its good food, kind & helpful staff and view of the river. The coffee was good, too. I could have stayed for hours.

Excellent - Edit
We visited the restaurant a few times during our time in Kyoto. Each time we enjoyed our meals. Great international cuisine. We also bought muffins and cookies from their cafe selection as well. Those were great too.

Great Vegan food - Edit
This was my first meal since arriving in Japan, I was thrilled to find this Vegan restaurant. There were 3 of us, we each had a different main course, they were all very good. Red wine was acceptable as was the price.

Watch the birds - Edit
I ordered the Buddha Bowl and thought it was a nice combination of flavors. The “meat” was very good and made the dish filling. I enjoyed my iced coffee while watching the birds hunt for fish in the river. This has been the busiest Happy Cow restaurant we have visited in Kyoto.

Small portions few options - Edit
Good flavor and trusted vegan spot but unimpressed by flavor and lack of options. Got Buddha bowl and a good chocolate muffin that wasn’t too sweet.

Eh - Edit
Boyfriend got some curry and it was good and I got the taco rice salad but it looked nothing like the nice photos on here, very mediocre meals and I didn’t even get any corn chips on my taco rice like in the photos on here. Nothing special. Wouldn’t go back and pay that much for average food.

Just look at the great reviews. - Edit
This place packs a punch for us plant eaters. We had a DJ and music overlooking the riverbed. Lots of fun. Good food- don’t overlook the panini sandwiches. Everything is in Japanese but they are very helpful and speak English.

Good food - good views - Edit
Really nice views on the river. While their food was really good, the portions are small. If you are hungry make sure you get an appetizer and an entree. Also some of the entrees don't come with any veggies - in particular the soy nuggets. Don't get me wrong, they are really good, but you might want a salad with them.

So chic and delicious - Edit
I love this place. Bright and cheerful, big windows allowing plenty of sunshine and facing the river with a view of the bridge (七条大橋). Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Kyoto. Other than the restaurant, which serves delicious food, there is a small shop area where you can buy vegan baked goods (cookies), and some organic ingredients like red lentils, coffee, etc. I bought some cookies as souvenirs. As for the restaurant - I wanted to try everything on the menu but of course I had to choose. Was torn between the paninis, avocado toast and açaí bowl, but in the end I went with the açaí bowl (it was a sort of açaí smoothie with some granola and fruit for topping and a soy yoghurt base at the bottom of the bowl), with a vegan muffin (muffin of the day was chocolate the day I went) and maya nuts au lait (a sort of coffee drink - so good!) My meal was very satisfying and filling and so delicious. I saw other customers having the panini and the avocado toast that I had "forgone"... and they looked so good, too...! No regrets or buyer's remorse though, I'll just have to try those some other time. Highly recommend this place. It's stylish and chic and when I returned later in the day (evening) to buy the cookies, they were having a dance performance - seems like a very hip and artistic hub.
Read moreUPDATE: Tried the panini, also very nice!! It had some kind of tofu cheese in it, with creamy eggplant and other veg. Will definitely return next time I visit Kyoto. Coffee was great as always!

Excellent! - Edit
Have tried nearly every dish and everything is delicious! Especially everything containing the fried soymeat (e.g. buddha bowl) and the raw matcha cheesecake. Best drinks: matcha latte (one of the best I ever had) and the homemade ginger ale. To sum it up: go there and eat all the food!

They serve a variety of different meals depending on breakfast, lunch, cafe time or dinner. Tried everything, everything is worth trying! Price is fair for quality and compared to other japanese shops.

Really great place - Edit
First impressions were already great as soon as we sat down at the counter seats that overlook the river. It was absolutely gorgeous, and especially fun if you like watching wildlife (lots of birds down in the water).
Read moreThe food was great too though! We got the sample platter, which came with a lot of different yummy things, and the veggie panini with tofu "feta," which was SO GOOD. Please try this sandwich.
We rode our bikes here and parked out front where they have space for bikes. A great place to bike to.
Our waiter spoke great English -- not all staff do though.
Pros: Very friendly staff., Great views., Good food.
Cons: A tiny bit expensive.

Tried the sampler plate. Great fermented foods. Soy-meat was tasty (i usually don’t like fake meat). Kombucha was good. Will go back to try the carbonara.

Nice meal, quite expensive, slow service - Edit
Had an enjoyable lunch here, panini with perfectly soft tofu and grilled veg with small salad and small soup and an iced coffee for 1600 Yen. The food was quite oily. Only three choices of food on the lunch menu, bit confusing as staff don't speak much English and told me I had to order a drink with my food which made it more expensive. Overall I'd say not worth the money to be honest but nice if you are looking for something healthy with western style food and happy to pay a little extra for it.

Amazing breakfast, and we came back for dinner too - Edit
Very good quality coffee (we had drip and a soy latte) and delicious breakfast options. We had toast of the day (guacamole) and vegetable panini with tofu feta. Very chilled atmosphere with friendly, efficient staff. Highly recommend. We came back for dinner the same day - try the soy carbonara, fried soy meat and double potato salad if they’re on offer.

A busy spot popular with the tourists. We tried the carbonara and the taco rice which were both good, but preferred the carbonara. Also tried the double potato salad which was interesting, sort of like potato salad flavoured mashed potatoes. Friendly English speaking staff.

Great! - Edit
We came here three times - the first time we had the lunch plate. Everything was delicious, and it was really nice to have whole foods like lentils and quinoa, as you don't find them much in Japan. It was a good price for what we got.
Read moreThe second time we came in for brunch, and they'd sold out of almost everything. We had the avocado toast which was pricy for not very much food. The third time we managed to get their acai bowl for breakfast which was better!
The food is really tasty, but make sure you get there before they sell out of stuff and for breakfast I wouldn't get anything other than the bowl as you won't be full!
Pros: Delicious, Lunch was really good and lots of variety, gorgeous location
Cons: they sell out of some dishes, some breakfast options are small

Limited menu - Edit
We had for starters salsa and a plate of tempeh, for mains . SpAghetti “ carbonara” and risotto . And two drinks apple and ginger . Great drinks , the mains were tasty but the bill came to a high 7000 yen or AUD 75 for two. Even in Tokyo a similar meal was around 5000 yen. By Australian standards it is a cafe with restaurant prices . As we not allowed in before 6pm even though the coffee area was supposed to be open we found a great new Tokyo beer lab around the corner that has vegan food . But we came back here to try it out and found it ok but not worth what we paid

Best Coffee in Japan!!!! - Edit
Coming from Australia we have a large coffee drinking culture and this bonsoy latte was even better than that I would have gotten at home. Also the veggie panini we ate was absolutely delicious with tofu feta and pumpkin. Definitely recommend! We ate the breakfast menu so not sure about lunch or dinner. Enjoy!
