A rare, fancy experience

While visiting Philadelphia, we celebrated my husband's birthday in style at Vedge. The ambiance is both upscale and homey. It's a splurge, so be aware that the portions are small: the idea is that you'll get 2-3 items per person. The broccolini and miso butter (appetizer) and the flan-like dessert were our faves. But we ate up everything!

Vegan to the highest level

The service is well above any other restaurant from start to finish. The waiter and staff are able to articulate every dish, every ingredient to the detail while you enjoy your journey through fine dining food. We chose the prix fix Vegan tasting menu that consisted of 5 courses all amazing and very flavorful. I encourage everyone to sample at least once while visiting Philly.

Pros: Hospitality, calamansi sorbet, amuse bouche selection

Even non-vegans leave obsessed. If you’re in Philly, go.

If you think vegan food is just salads, Vedge will prove you so wrong. This spot serves up mind blowing, vegan dishes with serious flavor.

Must-Try Dishes:
• Rutabaga Fondue – Creamy, smoky, and perfect with soft pretzels.
• Campfire Carrots – Charred, juicy, and paired with tangy lentils.
• Spicy Dan Dan Noodles – Savory, spicy, and totally addictive.

Fabulous vibe and amazing food - especially the Tasting menu

I had such a wonderful experience eating at Vedge.

Went on a Wednesday night and it was completely packed. Clearly a popular spot.

I had the tasting menu (and was grateful they let me since normally they want the whole table to order)

I was expecting small plates but I swear each course seemed to get bigger and bigger.

Loved everything I ate!

Pros: The rutabaga fondue, Eggplant Braciole, Wonderful service

Cons: It’s definitely pricy!

Tasting menu was a fantastic experience

This is a must try if you are into elegant, plant based dining. Small plates and expensive but very much worth the experience! Highly recommend getting the tasting menu. 6 courses which were all creative and so, so, so delicious. 10/10 experience and can't wait to go back next time I'm in Philly!

Pros: Creative menu , Everything is delicious , 100% vegan

Simply the Best

This was easily the best vegan restaurant in the country when it opened 12 years ago, and honestly, it's probably still holding that crown.

The way they highlight and manipulate vegetables is simply unlike anywhere else and will open your mind to the possibilities of vegan cuisine. And it's amazing that this quality of food is so affordable. They could easily charge twice as much if this restaurant were in a lot of other cities. Big W for the Philly restaurant scene.

Pros: Unmatched food quality, Excellent service, Affordable for fine dining

Cons: Can get booked up quickly

Vegan fine dining?!

This was the first fully vegan fine dining restaurant I’ve been to and it did not disappoint. My friend and I chose the “Vedge experience” option and shared so we could try as many things as possible, I would recommend, even better if you can get enough people to try the whole menu😄Each item was uniquely crafted and presented, all tasted wonderful, very full afterwards 😅

Pros: Interesting flavors, Cool presentation

Cons: Expensive but it’s fine dining and was worth it

One of best restaurants I’ve eaten at

This was one of my best dining experiences (I had dinner at Zahav the James beard award winning Israeli restaurant the next day and vedge was superior, by far!!!) the flavors and textures were sublime. I’d love to go back and try everything they offer.

Pros: Food was amazing, Service was excellent , Did I mention the food?

My favorite restaurant

I'm vegan, but I'm not really a vegetable guy. When I saw that this place focused on vegetables, I was weary.

Everything I've ordered here has been one of the best things I've ever eaten. You've got to try it.

Best vegan restaurant

Amazing experience. Expensive, but well worth it, especially for special occasions. The food presentation is beautiful and the taste is exquisite. They are masters of food chemistry. Need to book well in advance. I highly recommend choosing the “Vedge Experience”, which is one item from each of three menus, plus dessert.

Pros: Presentation, Flavors, Ambience/experience

Cons: Expensive, Hard to book unless in advance, Street parking

Upscale vegan dining

I have been wanting to go here for the past five years. They were written up as being one of the top 25 vegan restaurants in the world and they did not disappoint! In fact, Vedge was better than Millennium in San Francisco before and after they moved to the Rockridge area of Oakland, CA.

I had an exquisite prix fixe meal. Everything was artfully prepared. My only complaint was the overuse of salt. I find it distracts from the flavors of the ingredients. Other than that, I had a great time and the service was excellent.

I plan to go tomorrow night into West Chester, which is about an hour from here. The owners of Vedge have opened Ground Provisions, a farm-to-table vegan restaurant in that artsy town.

Pros: Artfully prepared food, Daring mix of flavors/textures, Excellent service

Cons: Overuse of salt, Need more raw produce/lettuces

Gold standard of veg fine dining

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. We stop here whenever we can in Philly, and have always been blown away. The menu changes frequently so there are always seasonal delights, but they do seem to keep the pretzel and pickles as the years roll on, and they’re to die for.

Pros: Beautiful, delicious food, Great atmosphere, No meat analogs

Great food but very expensive for the portion size

The food was amazing! But the portions were so small given the price. Definitely plan to spend $40-50 here if you want to leave with a full belly.

You should’ve done the prix fixe menu. 4 courses for $65. Plenty of food! You must not be used to fine dining. You’re in the big city. I easily spend $40-50 for lunch!

The best

In both the summer tomato toast and the summer squash and hominy fritters there was such a lovely combination of flavors and textures that I never wanted to stop eating each of the dishes. Remind yourself to eat slowly and make it last!!

Hoity-toity vegan

Vedge is a little rich for my blood, but it’s an experience you should try at least once. It won’t be your most filling meal or the best deal, but it’s fancy vegan fine dining and that’s pretty cool :).

Pros: Fancy

Cons: Price

Everything's great

Every dish was delicious and well executed.

Smoked Portobella Carpaccio was on the light side and deliciously smokey and peppery

Rutabaga Fondue delicious as always

Charred Yellow Squash & Hominy had so many delightful flavors, note this is spicy with cool ingredients to balance it

Grilled Tofu tasted like it was dry smoked a little, very tasty

Campfire Asparagus nice collection of flavors

Pistachio pudding had amazing lemon flavors and a surprising ginger marshmallow cream

Pros: Delicious, Well thought out

Fancy and Tasty

In light of the price, this might be a place reserved for special occasions but definitely a creative spot for innovative vegan fare. The service was attentive, the ambiance warm, and the dishes flavourful. We chose the tasting menu and though the portions are not huge, collectively, it was a filling meal. Highlights include the beet roll and the fried tofu. The desserts are next level and the ice cream was a hit.

Food really good, but a bit overpriced

The food could come with a warning that was spicy, the portions were a bit too small for the price. But overall service and food were good😄

Our favorite vegan restaurant!

We travel from an hour away into the city for special occasions to go to vedge. The pretzel bread and rutabaga fondue is delicious- we get something different every time we go, but we always order the fondue because it’s that good. We had it for dessert this last time! The staff are wonderful too- I have a nut allergy, which is never fun as a vegan, and they are super accommodating every time.

Pros: Delicious food, Knowledgeable and super nice staff, Convenient location- right off the patco from NJ

Amazing

We tried many dishes from Vedge and loved everything. Our top favorites were the
Roasted Maitake Mushroom with
campfire black lentils, creamy horseradish & tabasco vinaigrette

Spicy Dan Dan Noodles
with black vinegar glazed trumpet mushrooms, sesame and scallions
And the
Rutabaga Fondue with a soft pretzel & pickles

Our least favorite was the Whipped Celery Root Crepe.

The desserts were outstanding. We tried the Kumquat Cheesecake and the Tarte au Chocolat

I love that there were no “fake” meat or dairy products and that everything was made from scratch.

The price was $65 per person for the Experience which included three plates and a dessert per person. We were so glad we tried so many outstanding dishes but were extremely stuffed!

The atmosphere is perfect for a special event or date night.

Pros: Perfect setting for a date night, Everything from scratch
