Best Vegan Meal in Montreal - Edit
We stopped here as a recommendation from a friend and it was the best meal we have had so far in Montreal. I had the mapo tofu ramen and my partner had the shoyu. Both were really good. It was kind of far from our accommodation but it’s worth the trip.

Amazing vegan ramen with a touch of elegance - Edit
I recommend making a reservation if you want a table. The bar usually has spots for walk-ins but weekends get busy. The spicy miso ramen wasn't very spicy but it was still some of the best ramen I've ever had! The tempura tempeh curry ramen is a must try if you like curry-style ramen.

Excellent vegan ramen - Edit
Went here back in 2024 for ramen. The ramen was delicious as well as the agedashi tofu appetizer. The cocktail I ordered was also very good. Service was great.

Great place - Edit
Tasty ramen, cute ambiance. My personal fav is the kimchi one. The starters are okay/good. The drinks are very strong and small. A good place to bring your non-vegan friends! The service is always great.

Good but not great - Edit
Food was pretty good overall. We really liked the eggplant agebitashi and the tempeh tonkatsu. The tempura and the okonomiyaki were tasty too. We then had the spicy miso ramen and the kimchi ramen. They were a little disappointing to be honest. Both broths had a strong but one-note flavor. The miso one was very salty and didn't taste like much other than, well, miso. The kimchi was a little better. But they both had a thick consistency which made them a bit heavy.

How to perfectly start the week - Edit
Everything was amazing! I took the cold ramen (tofu, ginger, seaweed, tomatoes) with a creamy sesame sauce. The portion was great for the price (less than 20$ without taxes). The service was on point (staff were really friendly and took time to explain and answered questions). I took a mocktail (a little pricey for the quantity) and it was delicious. "UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal."

Best vegan ramen I’ve had - Edit
This food was so good to me. The egg was so interesting and cool - I loved this dish (shoyu ramen). Also ordered agedahsi tofu. And an aperitivo spritz (NA), which was kinda weird but also good. The servers were very cool and nice to me.

ramen is one of my favorite foods and this did not disappoint. I will say that the tantanmen spicy wasn’t actually spicy to me, but still delicious. Donut was also perfect desert to end with.

Worth an Uber trip across town - Edit
Ordered the eggplant (note that this dish is served cold) and tempura (delicious) as appetizers followed by a ramen with a fake egg on top (made from tomatoes I think the server said). The food is thoughtfully prepared and you can see into the kitchen from the bar stool area. They take pride in their dishes here - delicious across the board. Worth an Uber ride from across town to try this restaurant. You’ll need a reservation so book before you go.

Great food! - Edit
The starters were very delicious, we tried the Suteki Tamago ("steak and egg") made with enoki mushrooms and the gyoza, they were the perfect quantity to start our meal.
Read moreI had the Curry and Tonkatsu Tempeh ramen, it was sooo good. The Tonkatsu was crispy and freshly made, and the broth was thick and tasted like Japanese curry. Their organic noodles are homemade and are the best in town.
