Must visit in Montreal - Edit
ramen is one of my favorite foods and this did not disappoint. I will say that the tantanmen spicy wasn’t actually spicy to me, but still delicious. Donut was also perfect desert to end with.

I really enjoyed the Miso ramen, the other ramen dish we got was still delicious but wasn't really ramen since it wasn't brothy. Still enjoyed it all!

Worth an Uber trip across town - Edit
Ordered the eggplant (note that this dish is served cold) and tempura (delicious) as appetizers followed by a ramen with a fake egg on top (made from tomatoes I think the server said). The food is thoughtfully prepared and you can see into the kitchen from the bar stool area. They take pride in their dishes here - delicious across the board. Worth an Uber ride from across town to try this restaurant. You’ll need a reservation so book before you go.

Great food! - Edit
The starters were very delicious, we tried the Suteki Tamago ("steak and egg") made with enoki mushrooms and the gyoza, they were the perfect quantity to start our meal.
Read moreI had the Curry and Tonkatsu Tempeh ramen, it was sooo good. The Tonkatsu was crispy and freshly made, and the broth was thick and tasted like Japanese curry. Their organic noodles are homemade and are the best in town.
We had 2 different non-alcoholic cocktails which were very good!

Pros: Great Japanese cuisine, Cocktails are insane, Large portion of ramen + best noodles

I had gyoza to start, a bowl of ramen and a donut with ice cream in the hole. It was all so tasty and it wasn't that expensive. Next time, I want to see what their drinks are like

Tasting menu was a highlight - Edit
We had dinner at Umami Ramen, and booked a table under the covered patio which I highly recommend on a warm evening. The patio is located a few steps behind the restaurant but was secluded and quiet but we had excellent service from the staff. We opted for the tasting menu which was such a fun choice and ended up being a lot of food. The meal started with 3 appetizers: edamame; a wonderful eggplant dish with shiso; and a Wakame and cucumber salad. Subsequent plates included goyza; a tasty dish of enoki mushrooms on Japanese spiced squash; roasted shishito peppers; tempura mushrooms; Agedashi tofu topped with umeboshi plums; okonomiyaki; a green salad; and dessert of yuzu ice cream and raindrop cake. I didn’t know raindrop cake existed but it is now one of my favourite dessert ever. So many fantastic flavours I don’t know how to describe them. It was a wonderful meal we will talk about for a long time to come.

Delicious - Edit
I went when they had just opened about 3 years ago, and I went last week, and everything is just as good. Great textures, balances flavors. And the donut. I would do bad things for this donut.

Good Japanese tapas - Edit
We took only starters, we particularly liked the korroke which was very well seasoned and the tofu was nice. Some dishes were too spicy ( korroke , okonomiyaki). Every starter comes with many little colorful ingredients.
Read moreThe place is nice, as the waiters. We wished it wasn’t so hot inside, the AC isn’t sufficient for this big room and it was too noisy ( we went in the evening).

Awesome find - Edit
Came here for my 40th birthday and it did not disappoint. Reservation is required so make sure you don’t show up without one.
Read moreKimchi fries were my favorite of the night. Fresh out the fryer and smothered in mayo and topped with kimchi.
The spicy tantanmen (tantanmen épicé) was delicious but o where near as spicy as the waitress warned it would be. Thick, savory sauce and full of tofu and vegetables
For dessert I ordered the raindrop cake. I wanted to try it ever since it became viral a few years ago. Very sweet with a toasted sesame flavor topped with agave syrup
