Very good place to eat in Tena - Edit
This is a very nice place if you are looking for affordable vegan or vegetarian food. The tortuga next door is delicious as well but more expensive. This is run by a very nice lady and the food is very delicious. There are also some nice breakfast options

Nice vegan lunch - of course a bit pricy - Edit
Went there with a friend in April 2023. They don't have a huge menu and the vegan options are really just for lunch in my opinion (at least when you prefer sweet for brekkie like me).
Read moreWe had two different bowls which were both very nice, some hummus and an espresso. Everything was really good. Just for Ecuador pretty pricy. But lucky us that there are quite a few foreigners in Tena, so there are some vegetarian and vegan options at all!
The service was also quite nice and so was the location in general.
I wanted to go a second time but they at least opened late. ...went to the neighbours instead, but that was a little sad.
Pros: Vegan options in a reasonably small town, Good taste
Cons: Pricy if you have local level income, Seemingly don't take opening hours to seriously

Cheap, yummy, kind staff - Edit
Went to Tuna Bistrot multiple times while in Tena. The owner who runs the restaurant is very kind and the food is yummy. We tried to burrito, burger, and one of the three vegan bowls. Free purified water, clean bathroom, and cheap prices for a vegan meal in Ecuador. Also baked goods, though she only makes one or two a day and they aren’t all vegan.

Cons: Portions aren’t huge, Doesn’t have vegan baked goods every day

Delicious - Edit
Plenty of vegan options, 3 bowls, a burrito etc. Very lovely staff, healthy, tasty food and not a bad price 😊 I had a bowl with rice, avocado, mango, soya chunks (were yum and smoky flavoured) and a mustard dressing!

Best Vegan Food in Tena - Edit
This is the best Vegan food in Tena. The vegan bowls are absolutely delicious with rice, mango, avocado, fresh spinach and tomatoes, black beans, garbanzo beans, and vegan meat (the only vegan meat we found in Tena). The burrito was huge and filled with avocado. And the coffee was great, which was a nice plus. I can't recommend this place enough, it was amazing!

Delicious Food and Coffee - Edit
Great location across from the river park and spiral bridge.
Read moreOur first time here we were too late for the "almuerzo" (lunch special), so we had a hummus platter and a spinach burger. Both were delicious, but the hummus platter came without bread because it wasn't vegan. We asked for a bun like the one the burger came on and got one of those. It was great. The hummus creamy and flavorful and the veggies nice and fresh. The burger was also really yummy, although the patty was pretty small.
Yesterday we we were early enough for the almuerzo, which consisted of creamy carrot soup (vegan), a large oyster mushroom and "menestra" (lentils or beans) over mashed potatoes which were not vegan, so the server offered us brown rice (which we accepted), a salad, a cinnamon tea and fruit salad with yogurt for dessert. Unfortunately they were out of brown rice, so she offered us extra menestra or salad. We had one of each and enjoyed them immensely. Everything was fresh and flavorful and we were served fruit salad without the yogurt for dessert. Lovely!
But we were disappointed that they had unnecessarily added milk and/or butter to the potatoes. We can never understand why animal products have to be added to beautiful plant foods. *sigh*
Anyway, they have coconut milk for the coffee! And the coffee is fabulous!
Good service, great location and decent prices.
**Since writing this, we have eaten there 2 more times and both times, the almuerzos were totally vegan, so yay!!! Y !muchisimas gracias!

Great little cafe - Edit
We have been living in Ecuador for over 6 months now and every time we visit Tena we seem to end up here. Their menu is limited for vegans but the burritos are amazing and if you can get vegan almuerzos it’s great value. The hummus is good to and they soy milk so you can get a cappuccino and take in the beautiful malecón. Hopefully they will expand their menu soon as the vegan really small burgers are not that great.

Cons: Limited menu, Lunch specials aren’t always vegan
