Great vegetarian meal

Really good set meal, for a very reasonable price. In a really cute japanese restaurant!

Tasty, cheap and authentic

I stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring Kyoto in the evening.
I ordered the vegetable tempura and soba set menu and asked if it contained fish or meat. The waiter said that they use katsuo-dashi (fish) for the pickled veggies and the soup of the soba. I asked if they could change that and it was no problem. I got the soba without the soup but with soy sauce and they took away the pickles.
They changed the price accordingly so that the whole set came to 1330¥ which is cheap for the amount and quality you get.
The food was tasty, authentic and very filling.
The waiter was super friendly and the restaurant was comfortable. Decorated with Oni-masks and a lot of manga lining the walls.
I can totally recommend this place if you want to eat an variety of japanese dishes that aren't overpriced or small in size like in many other restaurants in Kyoto.

I went back again today and it was as easy to order, delicious and cheap as before.
The waiter remembered me and knew what had to be changed to make the meal vegan.

At least one of the staff speak English.
If you can't speak Japanese you can show them my picture of the set and say "no fish-broth" and you shouldn't have any problems getting some tasty vegan food there. :)

No veg main courses

The service was very helpful and friendly, but there was no vegan or vegetarian main dish on the menu, and it also didn't seem possible to modify the existing dishes. There are some vegan side dishes such as edamame beans and vegetable tempura, and everything is very reasonably priced.

The vegetarian tempura set is vegetarian. If you ask the staff they can leave away the dishes that use fish broth.
At least I didn't have any problems when ordering this way... 🤔
