Açai A Small Problem

This funky, petite kiosk lies slap-bang in the middle of the seafront promenade on the JBR, but despite its prime location, I have never managed to make it here. The main reason for this is the not too inconsequential fact that they have a like-for-like competitor (that I adore) almost within touching distance. This day, I closed my eyes to said rival vendor and made a beeline for here.
The first key difference of note was the menu. Unlike its contemporary, where customisation is very much the name of the game, this place has specific combinations to choose from and while you can create your own variation, the range of additions is significantly less. One -nil to the away team.
Next, in terms of size of portion and price, both places are equally matched, so no change in the score here.
Finally, with regards to the most vital of statistics, the taste, there was a clear winner…and it’s not this one. Without comparison, you would say that this bowl was quite pleasurable. Unfortunately, when you take into account its opposition, it was a little icy, lacking a touch of sweetness, and missing a certain depth of flavour to the açai itself.
Overall, it was an enjoyable offering, but the only reason I would be tempted to return would be if I was desperate for my tropical fix and Oakberry happened to be closed.
