Brilliant food - Edit
I love mushrooms so this was like a little piece of heaven! The menu is small but carefully crafted. And everything features different mushrooms. I took the recommendation of the waiter and I did not regret it: a mac and cheese type of thing without mac, just mushrooms and a jackfruit enchilada with a side of mushroom. I also had their own beer with 3 types of mushroom. Amazing place.

Magical Mushrooms 🍄 - Edit
My wife and I finally had dinner here and it blew us away. Another win for Overthrow Hospitality! We ordered 6 courses, each focused on a different mushroom, each with a new style. Wow, so delicious. The standouts were Beech, Blue Oyster, & Maitake. Even the chocolate dessert was shroom-based and delicious. Check it out! One of the most unique and flavorful restaurants in NYC😄

Loved everything - Edit
We ate there at 5pm and it was nice and quiet, and almost felt like a private tasting menu. Dishes are made to share. We had the enoki salad, lion's mane dumplings, morels, chestnut mushrooms (with seasonal cauliflower mushrooms added), and king royal trumpet (which comes as a very large red raviolo, very eye-catching and IG-worthy if that's your thing). What a feast! Everything was delicious. I also love that they had young coconuts (coconut water) to drink.

Fun! - Edit
The kind of place you go once because there’s buzz and the ambience is very nice. Food is good but for me to return to one of those nyc dining experiences where everything is $25-30 per item it needs to be AMAZING and I just didn’t feel that here (for reference, I hurt my wallet and return to places like ippudo v and ladybird (although ladybird is also big vibes) over and over bc I think they’re worth it). The mole was a bit too salty and the ramen was sooo small 😭 and not rly ramen. Very yummy but should’ve come with a side of white rice for that dish or more noodles or something to soak up the intense sauce.

Good but not Great - Edit
Unique experience with all mushroom dishes, but very small portions and none of the dishes were spectacular.
Read moreThe king royal trumpet was particularly disappointing, the red shell was stale and the filling lacked flavor.
Dessert was our favorite part of the meal!

All mushroom, all vegan - Edit
Yes, every dish is mushroom-based. No, they don’t all taste the same. Every dish is so unique you really forget you are eating mushrooms your whole meal. The lion’s mane dumplings are delicious but the beech “Mac n cheese” is definitely my favorite. A nice cozy spot!

Unique experience for mushroom lovers - Edit
Overall, dining here was a creative, unique experience but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re really into mushrooms and want to spend $20 per dish
Read moreThe ambiance was fun and mushroom-themed and our serve was pretty inattentive toward us (but not the other tables). This is a tapas-style restaurant so it’s expected that you’ll share everything. For 2 people, we ordered the lion’s mane dumplings, beech mac cheese and the king royal trumpet ravioli.
The Beech and King royal trumpet were our favorites and we wanted to order more, but for the price, we couldn’t justify it. We went for pizza after 😅

Great flavors - Edit
The dishes I ordered had such unique flavors! My favorite was the maitake, the celery root puree with the mushroom was delicious. I also ordered the yellow enoki dish, which was a lovely salad with excellent flavors. The only thing about it was that the enoki had an unpleasant texture. I hope it was just a fluke with my dish because the components of the salad with the almond and orange balsamic vinaigrette was really tasty. I loved the dessert, it was so perfect for me. I’m not a huge chocolate fan but the cake was not overwhelmingly rich, with the berry sauce and the light ice cream it was delicious. Loved this concept!

Intriguing and flavorful - Edit
All dishes are intended to be shared, plenty of GF options (all but 3 items on the menu could have been made GF as of March ‘25), and everything really made of mushrooms. From noodle-like texture to creamy and flavorful sauces and dessert with candied mushrooms, very enjoyable. Fresh coconut water straight from the coconut was a wonderful compliment.

The food was amazing, as was the service and ambience. Can't wait to go back and try every dish on the menu!
Read moreIf these fancy mushroom dishes were at other restaurants, they would cost twice as much.
There were some dishes that were beautiful mushrooms at the center of the plate, and others that had chopped up mushrooms in something where you couldn't taste them as much. They were all great, but I preferred the former. I just felt like these fancy mushrooms are too beautiful to dice up, but I also guess that what I'm proposing is too limiting for the chef. See, this place really gets you thinking! One small esoteric problem is that it's a little hard to tell from the menu which one of the two styles you're ordering.
Anyways, can't wait to try more dishes!

Wow... All Mushroom Dishes - Edit
Completely blown away by the mushroom-based dishes at @thirdkingdomnyc with Executive @chef_juan_xaltepex_ , an @overthrowhospitality restaurant among one of our favs @sodaclubnyc, @avantgardennyc, and many more!
Read moreWe absolutely loved everything we tried:
- Lions Mane Dumplings
- Beech Mushrooms in Cauliflower Cream
- Chantarelles in Cilantro Sauce
- Fried Enoki Ramen with fresh House Made Noodles in a creamy Sesame Coconut Cashew Broth ( My husband greatly enjoyed this one without me since I am allergic to cashews ) Thank you @allende_chef for the recommendation!
- Lava Cake with Rosemary and Porchini Ice Cream with Candied Shitake
I cannot recommend this place enough for such innovative and delicious mushroom dishes. And I am obsessed with the mushroom decor! And if you are not a mushroom person, have you tried good or different types of mushrooms?
Being vegan has opened my mind to try so many new foods and cuisines. I had this negative perception of mushrooms growing up as a kid... gross looking... slimy... but once you try a good mushroom or the different variety of mushrooms, you might pleasantly surprised!

Anyways... - Edit
It took us a while to pinpoint how to describe Third Kingdom. What we came up with, about an hour into the discussion, was that this is an overpriced appetizer restaurant with great tasting, all mushroom dishes. Not dishes featuring mushrooms, but mushrooms with a light sprinkle of other ingredients. Mushrooms. So many mushrooms.
Read moreIf you're considering dining here, do it. Mushrooms. It's a great experience that you won't repeat. Once you're done and you're wondering where to get an actual dinner that isn't just mushrooms, I would suggest Double Zero, about a 5 minute walk away. Mushrooms. Mushrooms.
So many mushrooms.

A unique meal - Edit
I was so excited to come here because I love the concept. Everything we had was delicious although some things were a bit too salty. Main complaint is that the dishes are designed for sharing but the ramen was not at all shareable (we weren’t even given our own bowls - I guess we were supposed to eat out of the same one??). The king royal mushroom is the instagrammable, beautifully presented dish. Unfortunately that one was chewy and hard to cut and had the least mushroom flavour of all the dishes. The dessert was great. I would go back to try more but it was very expensive and didn’t wow me like other restaurants in the city.

Great way to explore different mushrooms - Edit
I really enjoyed the dining experience here. The dishes are on the smaller side so between 3 of us we ordered 6 plates but the dessert. We might have ordered too much though, I think 4-5 plates and a dessert would have been enough. Each dish was really unique. The Lion’s mane dumplings were my favorite

I booked, thinking that I was glad to get a date before (I had been led to believe) the pop-up would be closing... I'm so glad it is not!
Read moreThe moody room lent character, the quirky mushroom decor added fun...
A wonderful journey in mushrooms! All was ab fab and I particularly enjoyed the candied shitake and porcini ice cream with the lava cake (I would rarely ever order ice cream/toffee/caramel/treacle desserts - all too sweet, I find). Curiously creative, the flavour pairing of choc and mushroommm... - who knew!
(Yes, I admit: I'm a fan of pineapple on pizza...a fan of sweet with savoury!)
The friendly staff explained that the restaurant was no longer a pop up, and would not be closing down.
Gentle reminder: please check that your guests like mushrooms.
(It didn't seem fun for the guest who openly didn't like mushrooms, as we noticed in the group on the next table celebrating a birthday...)

It was good! But there was almost too much creativity with the mushrooms. I liked the dumplings and the ramen… but the porcini ice cream was a bit too savory.

Excellent and Unsual - Edit
Attended their Valentine's Day Dinner (5 courses + dessert) and was VERY impressed by the variety and the tastiness of each dish. In addition to the actual food, the service as attentive (and on a busy night) the price was very reasonable for the quality of the dining experience. They have small but varied wine and cocktail list, as well as non-alc beverages.
