Great atmosphere, bland food - Edit
Love the atmosphere, sadly not the food.
Read moreThe vegan breakfast bowl literally had zero taste to me. There was no salt.
I got an oat mocha and it tasted like a latte.
Feb 2025: Lunch tofu rice bowl was better than previous experience but lacked salt which you can add
They have errors on their menu. Items with cheese listed as vegan, counter staff unclear that that wasn't vegan so make sure to check.

FWIW they have vegan stuff now, though they also make mistakes.

Cute bookstore with cafe - Edit
I only tried the vegan biscuits and gravy, which were pretty good! Currently they only offer takeout so I’m sure it’s usually much cozier. The chai was a little bland. I’m just glad they offer vegan options!

Great bookstore and cafe - Edit
I live nearby and generally come in for their events or to purchase a book. They have a great social justice mission so I try to support them. They have several clearly marked vegan options, including a vegan banana bread which is good. I've had the tofu banh mi sandwich which is ok but could use a little more flavor. My husband had the vegan Creamy Sausage Gravy and Biscuit. Also good. The portions are on the small size (but prices are also very low!), and the ingredients are fresh. Overall its a great spot and worth a snack and some fair trade coffee!

Cons: Portions small (but inexpensive)

awesome longstanding social justice community establishment - Edit
Great ambiance. Casual cafe and counter service with nice seating area inside and outside. Recently renovated, so it's very nice! Many, many clearly labeled vegan food options. I had the two dollar all day biscuit, with cashew cream and fruit preserves (To be clear, the biscuit alone is two dollars-- The cashew cream and fruit preserves are extra!). It's a full bookstore, too, and the café is integrated into that. They have some rules about Wi-Fi -- it's not available in all spots at all times. The bookstore prominently features several vegan cookbooks and animal-rights literature.
