Sadly they did not have the sweet sour plant based chicken nor any tempeh. They had a red vegetable curry and pumpkin porridge.

Decent food with good portions - Edit
I came across this as a last minute food option (thanks to happy cow!). They have a small plant based section in their menu. I tried the claypot curry with rice. It was very filling and had good portion.

Good late night option - Edit
Excellent option for late night. I arrived later in the evening and was happy to find this place. They have a plant based section on their menu with a few options. I had the vegan omelette with radish and the sweet and sour chick’n claypot. Both were very good.

Late night comfort food for vegan night owls - Edit
We stumbled upon Hainan Story as we walked home one night. Although they aren't a vegan restaurant they had plenty of great options on offer that gave a modern take on some Hainanese classics. Recommended for the vegan night owls out there 🤘

Tried their vegan Hainanese curry rice, heavenly. The rice is generously soaked with the curry and I love the crispy plant-based meat. They should make this their permanent dish.

💚 Claypot Hainanese Mixed Vegetable ‘Chicken’ Curry (Vegan, contain Alliums): This is my favourite! Shiok shiok curry with generous veges portion in it. There’s also @growthwellfoods ‘chicken’ bits in it. Love to top the thick curry gravy on my plate of white rice. I will so order this when I go the restaurant next time. This is my favourite and highly recommended. @tamjiak_veggiez has already went there a few times for this curry claypot 🤤
💚 Trio Mushroom & ‘Meatball’ Golden Pumpkin Porridge (AF, Vegan): Comfort food. Enjoyed it while it’s hot~ Great to eat this along with youtiao… Yummy.

What’s the plant-based ‘chicken’ about 🧐 ? Well… It is made of natural and premium soya chunks from @growthwellfoods. It’s high in protein and rich in a range vitamins such as iron, magnesium & zinc. These soy chunks are well-loved for its cholesterol & preservative-free formulation. Soy also contains all nine essential amino acids that help the body develop, maintain and repair muscles.
It's my first time @thehainanstory and love their pretty cool deco (See last photo). I was there on a weekday night and it’s packed with short queue formed outside the restaurant. So… be mental prep to q during peak hours, else I suggest you to go try this during off peak hours.
