It’s all right, a little bit of sugary. I’m just so happy that they have a vegan option and are so accommodating. Extremely friendly and courteous staff. Would definitely recommend everyone try this once.
Everything tasted amazing. The scone soft and decadent, definitely ask to pair it with marmalade.
There was a brownie bite, raspberry truffle, tiny muffin, lemon tart and a jelly. The sandwiches were cucumber, tomato, hummus, smashed chickpea and a tiny Just Egg quiche.
We each got to pick 2 tea options and we liked them both a lot. Our favorite was the Blue tea.
Lavish luxury at the Empress Hotel. Must be booked ahead of time indicating Vegan.
We got to our hotel and found out the dog friendly policy did not mean we could leave the dog in the hotel. With standing reservations, we tried fruitlessly to find a dog sitter and called the Empress to see if we could get our reservation to go. They indicated that to-go meals usually require a 48 hour notice. A few phone calls later the manager authorized the to-go meals to accommodate our situation.
The Vegan box came with a pre-selected tea. I believe you have a choice of teas when dining in house. Although small, the vegan to-go box consisted of vegan versions of the regular to-go box items instead of substitutions. Tea sandwiches, desserts, jellies, and scones with clotted cream created a nice balance of sweet and savory.
Although delicious, the vegan high tea will leave you wanting more. #Veganuary
Full vegan tea experience. I felt like I didn't miss out on anything. Called in advance to request and ensure a vegan menu. Many options of tea to select from, and full teatime experience with delightful sandwiches and sweets.
Exceptional service.
They can make an entire afternoon tea vegan, including an alternative milk to add to the tea itself. Impressive and a wonderful special occasion option!
When we saw that they offered a vegan high tea, we were a little nervous (that’s a lot to pay for subpar vegan ‘snacks’) but mostly excited. It’s an experience like no other and as tourists it’s up there on the must-do list. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We got cream with our tea and they had several options (soy, oat, and one other, but I can’t remember). I didn’t feel like we were missing out on anything. We got the same three tiered options (biscuits and jam, assorted sandwiches, and assorted desserts)The biscuits with jam was our favorite along with the cucumber dill sandwich, chickpea sandwich, and the raspberry chocolate tea cup dessert. The tea was outstanding and you can get refills if you’d like. The atmosphere is fantastic with great views of the water. The offered plenty of alcoholic drinks, if you’d like. They also accommodate to many other dietary restrictions if you have any others. When we first say down, that was the first thing they asked us. We went at 11 am on a Wednesday and it was just us for a while, but it quickly filled up once we were done. I will say, if you’ve never been and are parking in their parking lot, go a bit early. We had a hard time finding out where to go and didn’t see any signs. Follow the crowds! Also, don’t forget, pinkies up!! 😉
The options looked better here that at the Pendray so we chose here. The vegan food tower was great! The service was great too and they made sure to call ahead to confirm we get a vegan food. The place was nice but I was a little disappointed that the furniture felt like basic diner seating.
We were each given a flower and a champagne mimosa.
Excellent service from waiter as well as hotel staff, they gave us valet parking for no charge to help us with my elderly mum

Had a great time. Pretty expensive but I felt like a fancy vegan. Not sure if I would do again, but definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
