I went to a play in a small theater in Hell's Kitchen, an area where there are not a lot of good choices for vegans, and I thought I'd try this waiter-served Italian place. It has a friendly atmosphere, with jazz music on the sound system, and they offer a few vegan dishes: a vegan lasagne, vegan eggplant parm, and various pizzas (whole pies) with vegan options. (No vegan desserts, however.)
Read moreI had the lasagne; it was fine and filling, if a bit unevenly cooked. I was pleased enough with my meal, but did not find it wow-worthy. This area is near a bunch of economy hotels, and if you don't want to stray far and are with omnis who want to eat things like veal, you can find something decent to eat here. But for vegan Italian food, there are better options elsewhere in town.

For vegan Italian, Coletta is the best that I've been to. I liked Double Zero, which evidently now has merged with its next-door neighbor to form PlantMade.

BTW, Johns of 12th Street is another Italian restaurant that has extensive vegan options (and entire vegan menu). I must confess that it is not my favorite (I gave it 3 stars, which I felt was generous), but many other people on HC really like John's.

This was the best vegan Italian food I’ve ever had (other than at home). We had both the lasagne and the eggplant parm. They were amazing! The focaccia bread was to die for, and the salad was light and delicious. There were plenty of great options for our non-vegan family members. Atmosphere was awesome, and the staff was terrific! I’d give 5 stars if the app would let me. The only downside was no vegan dessert, but we were too full anyway :). Thank you Tavola!

There were multiple vegan options on the menu. I had the vegan-gf lasagna and it was amazing. There was also a vegan eggplant Parmesan and you could make any pizza with vegan cheese. The ambience and service was very nice as well. Bit on the pricier side but worth it.

I was struggling with the verdict for this place. The atmosphere is great, staff is very friendly. However the vegan options are limited and the vegan cheese was mediocre at best. However, the Pizza itself was one of the best I ever had. I did not expect such perfection in dough in the US!

Absolutely delicious - Edit
A lovely little place with a cosy atmosphere and great service. I had the aubergine parmigiana and it was absolutely delicious. They also had a vegan lasagne and you could have a pizza with vegan mozzarella, so plenty of choice. We’re only here in NY for a few days but I’d be tempted to go back again!

Surprising Find! - Edit
We’d been explore the vegan options around the area and stumbled upon this little gem and fully expected to only find options for the meat-eating members of our party. We found vegan options clearly listed on the menu, and the staff was well aware of which other menu options could be made vegan. Great service.
