Needs improvement, nice space - Edit
We stopped for cake and coffee. We tried a couple of times but it was closed (maybe just a coincidence). We had a mango cheesecake and a cinnamon chocolate cake - they have some fixed vegan options and some daily ones so make sure to ask. Frankly it wasn't our favourite taste-wise, although the owner was very friendly and helpful.

A Lovely Space w Kind People - Edit
This place is such a lovely oasis in a busy town. A calm and comforting patio area with shade and sun. Many vegan options to choose from and clearly marked on the menu. I had the vegan tartine which was good but not great but would get it again in the future. I had the vegan mango cheesecake which was really tasty but not much of a cheesecake and more like a cashew cream pie. Next time I’m going to try the pancakes. I saw some come to a table and they looked awesome. The owners are super sweet and that matters more to me than the food.

Cozy and spacious place with garden - Edit
I loved the garden and wifi - it's in the historic center and a gem. ✨️ The only backdraw is that they only accept cash and I never understand why restaurants do that in 2025. I will not go there again because I would need to think to go to an ATM and take out money just to eat there.

Every time you pay with a credit card that business pays 1.5 to 3.5% to the credit card company. In order for the business to take credit cards they need a processor (like Square) and that processor takes another 2.5%. As someone who has owned a couple of small businesses I can say that the amount of money that it takes to take credit cards adds up quickly.
Read moreLet’s say that their average check per person is 330MXN and they have 20 guests a day. 33,000MXN a week. 1,716,000MXN a year. At 5% processing fees that’s 85,800MXN per year in credit card fees. That’s roughly $4,500 US that it costs them each year to take credit cards.
Help small businesses out by paying in cash when possible.

Seem to have a rotating list of dessert offerings. I had the chocolate cake which was probably the best baked good I've had in Mexico!

Delicious - Edit
I ate the gluten free vegan cheesecake mango flavour. It was super delicious! Their menu says they have vegan cheese and can veganise some menu items. I’ll be returning 😊.

OK - Edit
I had the panini and it was tasty with a side salad also. Good portion sizes, a bit on the pricey side. I had the horchata with cacao and it was awful- just tasted like water but horrible, I actually couldn’t drink it.

They Got The Beat like The Go-Gos - Edit
Sweetbeat is a really relaxing place with great vegan pancakes. Like others have commented HC doesnt let me leave a 5 star review for just veg option places. I usually dont take time to leave reviews for veg option spots anyways but Layla and Juan Carlos (I hope Im remembering correctly their names) are super sweet, welcoming and friendly. I went there about 4 times during my stay in SCDLC. Went to Spanish conversation group too which was a nice thing they offered. I hope they continue to add vegan options (IF Sweetbeat could kick the meat that would be the definition of sweet. They could just rename themselves Sweetbeet no problemo...buuuut I digress.) Anyways go for the pancakes and bring a book to read. Sweeet spot.

Amazing vegan pancakes & other options! - Edit
This is a lovely cafe to hang out, work, meet people, the open court yard is lovely and they have spanish language lessons, open mic events once a month and other events.
Read moreBut most importantly here of course is that they have amazing vegan pancakes (multiple flavour options) which are sooo good, build your own salads and sandwiches and basically everything has a vegan option. The owner is very kind, sensitive to veg issues and welcoming. I highly recommend!
I would give this cafe 5 stars if I could (HC doesn't allow 5 stars for veg option restaurants).
Pros: Great food, Lovely space to hang out, Friendly people
