Five Star for Vegan Options - Edit
This is one of my favorite places! I drive well over an hour just to come here as often as possible 💖 The tofu dumpling soup is my favorite 😍🤤🤌 Must get with some pomegranate soju. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of veganism. Just a few minutes drive from the beach as well.

Love it. - Edit
I’ve been living in Korea for the last year and half and I am all about the food so on my visit to Long Beach I just had to try Sura! Everything was so good! We had the dumplings, japche and that vegan fried egg on top of my bibimbap was amazing! Not sure it’s on the menu anymore but it was made from mung beans and it was really good! I love Korean food!

Good but not great - Edit
I enjoyed the vegan marinated bulgogi BBQ served with banchan but it was not great. I am glad to have visited and if I were to visit again, I would order something else from the surprising vegan section of the menu and the various vegan items throughout.

Vegan Korean outside of Korea - Edit
Despite Los Angeles County having perhaps the most Koreans outside of Korea, it's damn hard to find vegan Korean food. I've had vegan food in Korea but Sura is really something special. It's possible to find hot stone bibimbap made vegan in LA but Sura has other things too. Vegan options have their own section on the menu and include appetizers and soups. I recommend the vegan hangover ramen with rice cakes. They have smoothies that can be made vegan too. Feels like you get a lot for what you pay. I like the rice cakes so much that I tried the crispy rice cake skewers appetizer but it felt like too much food even for two people (gets repetitive to keep eating it). Parking is limited but the food is worth it.

Delicious and inexpensive - Edit
Came here with some vegan friends around 5 on a Saturday night. We got a table right away and to our surprise they had a happy hour special going on. Lots of vegan options on the happy hour menu, I tried the shroom fries and the vegan bao buns and both we INCREDIBLE! Everything was really reasonably priced, I got the two appetizers as well as 2 beers and my bills came out to $25. Will definitely be coming back to try more vegan options, they had a decently sized regular vegan menu too, and everything was very clearly labeled.

Delicious options and flavors! - Edit
I haven't had Korean food in years and years. To me, the flavor was right on for the bibimbap. Also had fried dumplings and the scallion pancakes (saving half for breakfast, yum!).

YES! Vegan Korean Food! - Edit
Sura has a dedicated vegan menu full of Korean staples and favorites, eg bulgogi, japchae, bibimbap, and jjigae. They even have vegan banchan (side dishes) that, as with a good Korean restaurant, they will refill w/o charge. We dove into vegan bulgogi, tofu japchae and tteokbokki, and... it was GOOD. Service was quick and the staff was really cool. Sura pulled of the right flavor profiles and ensured we knew what we ordered was indeed vegan. This is a great place for a vegan meal, or if you must, take your not vegan pals and eat together.

Vegan Korean! - Edit
It is not easy to find vegan Korean restaurants in LA. I trekked down to Long Beach to try this Korean restaurant with a vegan menu.
Read moreI ordered the kimchi fried rice with vegan shrimp and vegan egg. Based on Korean food I have had, this was one of the best.
The condiments at Korean restaurants are always a nice touch.
It's still not my favorite cuisine out there, but this place is good if you want to try Korean food vegan-style.
Pros: Modern cool atmosphere, Great background music, Tasty Korean

Delicious vegan menu with reasonable prices and large portions depending on what you order. I would recommend the vegan kimchi rice with the vegan egg and the shitake shroom fries. The restaurant is also beautiful on the inside and has a nice vibe.

Awesome - Edit
Never really had Korean food and theirs was great. I had the egg bibimpap bowl. It was delightful. I wanted more!! We shared the shroom fries, I’m not big on fried food, but very tasty. My hubby had the vegan hangover ramen, spicy. It really has a nice spice level. We would definitely go back!

Vegan-friendly Korean food is hard to come by. As soon as I found out about this place, I knew I had to try it... and it didn't disappoint! We got the shroom fries, the tteokbokki, the bibimbap, and the jjigae. Everything was delicious with the shroom fries being the bomb! Service was prompt and friendly. Wish there were more places like this.

Great vegan option - Edit
First: this place IS open on Sundays. Great vegan options, they have a full page on their menu. According to their website - they use separate pots for the vegan dishes, to avoid any cross contamination. Also, what’s important to me - the place doesn’t smell of heavy meat cooking, which is often the case in BBQ type of places.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place! - Edit
My husband and I absolutely love Sura. Its so nice to finally find a Korean restaurant that has a vegan menu. Their vegan menu has a lot of my favorite dishes AND they cook all the vegan items in a separate kitchen than the meat stuff. Everything is tasty. The staff is friendly. Best place ever!

Delicious tofu soups - Edit
I really missed Korean food, so I was glad to find Sura.
Read moreTheir menu has one page that is all-vegan, including appetizers and entrees.
The Dumpling Tofu Soup is to die for, especially in cold weather. They are made with a 1-10 spiciness scale and served with a side of korean black rice that pairs perfectly with the broth. The banchan/sides are all pretty good and unlimited. They will serve you vegan kimchi and they assured me that the rest of the sides are vegan. It is not an exact match for traditional kimchi and its quality varies between visits, but I always like it.
The tofu taco appetizer was good, but I do not think I will be ordering them again. There is a Mexican place next door that makes a good mushroom taco, so get those if you want tacos.
All of the teas I have had here were made vegan using soy milk. Try the tiger milk tea with soymilk!
I will regularly visit this restaurant, so I will come back and update this review with my findings.
Pros: Great vegan menu, Friendly Staff, Decent beer selection (on tap and bottled)
Cons: NonVeg friends tend to prefer all-you-can-eat kbbq, Inconsistent spiciness, but not bad.

The fact that they have a separate menu for vegan options is a plus in my book. So much easier to choose. Do not pass up on the shiitake mushroom fries! Great customer service as well. Definitely will be coming back.

Veggie friendly korean spot! - Edit
An adorable place with its homey touches, I was glad to see "vegan friendly" right on the center window when I got there. But do ask for the veggie menu since it's not the first one they give you. It's been a long time since I've had a Korean tofu soup and was really happy to have it, piping hot, full of silky tofu, delightfully spicy, chock full of veggies, and no beef broth smothering everything! I ordered the three mushroom base, another option being the wonton tofu soup. In case you don't want the egg cracked in they bring it on the side, keeping it vegan.
Read moreThe side dishes are the nice standards, some pickled radishes, burdock, kimchee, some greens, and they're all refillable! We ordered veggie potstickers for an appetizer and they were passable, not fantastic, but ok. And hey, veggie.
My soup was fantastic, the spice amount I wanted and had plenty of shiitake, anoki, and regular mushrooms as well as the velvety tofu I love....
The only downside was the fusion fare, the Korean burritos are probably not ordered often and didn't seem freshly prepared. I would recommend staying with the familiar korean fare and you'll be fine. And full. Thumbs up for a nice lunch spot, especially given their effort for having an entire veg menu.
Pros: The effort, Veggie versions hard to find elsewhere , Delicious tofu
Cons: Could be fresher

Kimchi = happiness - Edit
Sura is one of those places that you stumble on two blocks from your house and are really sad that you've lived there for 18 months and never known about it. Plenty of options for vegans, and they'll make your kimchi tofu soup as spicy as you can handle. A simple, inexpensive Korean BBQ menu, all the tacos, soups, and noodles can be veganized, and $1 taco Tuesdays!
