Not impressed - Edit
I’m not super impressed tbh. I had the tofu sandwich and it was like $20 and it was good but not that good. The fries are not as good as people told me. I think I had high expectations.

Didn't wow me - Edit
I ordered the TFT sandwich and fries. The sandwich was just ok, but given that it was $22 for the sandwich alone, I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't more flavorful. I will admit the fries were exceptionally good - but they're an additional $12.

Bien - Edit
El local es agradable y está en muy buena zona. El personal es atento y se agradece mucho que la hamburguesa no sea beyond y las patatas de bolsa. Relación calidad-precio muy buena. Muy buena opción.

Wow so good - Edit
I’m not really into burgers , so this place was not really on my radar until a friend recommended it to me. My partner and I came for an early lunch on a weekend and got the burnt broccoli salad, yuba verde sandwich and crispy yuba breakfast sandwich. The burnt broccoli salad was served cold, which was a little unexpected. We would have preferred it warm. The sandwiches were both absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying a dish with yuba. Very expensive, but worth it.

Delicious - Edit
I’m normally not a fan of bean burgers (prefer impossible meat) but this was soooo good. My friend also ordered a thai peanut salad which I would come back for. I also just think it’s really cute in here ! The only downside is that it was pretty expensive but its nyc

Yummy flyby at the Pietramala pop-up - Edit
Line was out the door, spilling into the Alphabet City chaos! Despite the place being packed, the host generously let us pop a squat on a bar stool to order the cherry-glazed vegan griddle cake (local sour cherries with cardamom whip cream and ice-cream, topped with candied sunflower seeds) and which was so tasty and went way too fast!

Welcoming place - Edit
We had several enjoyable dinners here. The burgers were great. The pearl pie was excellent. Service is fine. The restaurant could get noisy.

The standout meal of my year - Edit
I got the yuba verde which at $28 was not cheap for a sandwich, but they put a quantity of rabe on it that costs $7ish in Seattle, and the whole thing was just extraordinary for sheer creativity and chutzpah. was also able to try the tofu fried tofu, also outstanding. Perfect fried! Friendly people, awesome updated-diner interior. Unmissable.

Best Burger - Edit
We ate the eponymous superiority burger - one as vegetarian (the standard) and one as vegan. They were delicious! The burger patty appeared to be house-made and was thinner and had an amazing vegan cheese. The sauce and pickles finished it out perfectly.

Good comfort food, very expensive - Edit
I liked, didn't love, this place. I got the veganized Superiority Burger, which was tasty but extremely mushy and basically fell apart after a few bites. It also must have been cooked next to my friend's vegetarian burger because cheese transferred onto part of my patty. So that was disappointing for a place that is vegetarian and welcomes vegans. I'd expect a goof like this in an omnivore restaurant, but not at a vegetarian haven. The old-diner atmosphere is lively and fun. But yeah, this place is very expensive for comfort food. I'm a New Yorker and used to sticker shock, but $25 for a burger and fries is bananas.

Delicious comfort food - Edit
Kinda loud, busy, party-like atmosphere, with upbeat music and subdued lighting. Definitely a popular place when I went for dinner on a weekend night. It was easy to order a vegan burger and fries, which came pretty quickly, and was really good. The staff was way busy and way friendly.

Tasty but overpriced - Edit
I’ve been here a decade ago when they first opened and loved it. Went back now and still loved the superiority burger and fries. The beans were delicious too. I found the burnt broccoli kinda bland and uninteresting. Everything is also way way too expensive for what it is and the place is way too loud

It was really delicious! The fries, burgers, and desserts were very good! I enjoyed the pearl pie and oro-lychee ice cream. One suggestion, make some more kid-friendly options, but it was cool there were crayons.

Greens and beans, ingenious desserts - Edit
This quickly became one of my favorite newish places in NYC. It’s a mostly vegan menu that changes occasionally with daily specials that are always worth checking out. The yuba and broccoli rabe sandwich is my current favorite. I highly recommend the bean dish with greens and focaccia, especially good for sharing. Their desserts are super unique and mind blowing, definitely worth a try. Glad this place exists.

Awful service - Edit
Staff were incredibly rude for the moment we arrived. The staff member who greeted us was dismissive, unhelpful, passive aggressive and rude, even though we were perfectly polite and not inconveniencing them in any way. The service was slow. I didn’t feel that anyone cared we were there which is rich considering a burger is $20. The food was excellent when it finally arrived, it’s just such a shame that the servers everything down to that level. They seem completely uninterested in us, and the poor service meant it took 40 minutes to get the check and pay. Appalling, wouldn’t go back because of the awful staff.

Mediocre food, rude service - Edit
The older location had better food. I appreciate that the menu is original and pretty good, if overpriced. The service is terrible- rude staff who are forgetful and seem more interested in being cool than taking care of customers.

Just meh. - Edit
Hubby and I are visiting NYC for the holidays and stopped here for lunch on a Friday afternoon, right as they opened. We were seated promptly, the waitress explained the specials and fetched our drinks. The menu is quite small. We ordered the vegan version of the Superiority burger and the vegan chili cheese dog that was on special. The burger came with nice thick fries and the chili cheese dog came with chips and a small side of macaroni salad.
Read moreOverall the food was mediocre. The burger and the hot dog were both very mushy and the dog did not taste at all like a hot dog. It filled the void but that was it.
The service was attentive and friendly.
It was also not inexpensive at $80 for a burger, hotdog, one beer and one glass of wine, including tax and service. However this is NYC.
Pros: Great service., good fries
Cons: mushy veggie burger

Original tastes, local ingredients, but $$$ - Edit
The mochi cake was quite nice, as were the pickled sweet potatoes, but I just have a hard time justifying the portion sizes with the cost. Especially for the signature namesake dish. Fine dining in a diner style establishment.

Why is this food so expensive? I feel like I can make something at home that is cheaper and tastes better. Which is what I will do next time.
