Great food, but overhyped - Edit
We tried coming here for two evenings in a row, but apparently staff decided that they are not taking customers after 7:50pm. Eventually we came early next day and managed to get a table.
Read moreFood was quite good, very simple. Sushi tasted really good and was very creative. While ramen lacked in taste and was more of Miso with noodles.
Service was quite bad, as all of the dishes came in random order and we couldn’t eat together. We tried ordering drinks but waitress walked away before we had a chance, and they include 8% service charge, which seemed strange in South East Asia (but maybe it is normal here is Malaysia?)
Overall, I’d love to come back and try more food as menu looked very interesting, but we were quite disappointed with the whole experience and atmosphere there.
Pros: Lots of interesting vegan options, Simple good food
Cons: Lack of taste, Quite expensive , Not very good service

Just incredible - Edit
I cant recommend this restaurant highly enough. Inventive, delicious and reasonably priced vegan Japanese food. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would come back to Penang just to make sure I can eat here again!
Read moreThe climate sushi, strawberry sushi, volcano rice and curry tempeh were all particularly good, but everything we ordered was delicious.

Delicious! - Edit
We had an order of the medium sushi plate - I had to order more inari because it was so good!! The sushi was all fantastic - exceptional rice. And we also had the Supe Ramen - spicy and delicious. The place is welcoming and friendly and the food is great. If it’s holiday season, send them a WhatsApp to make a reservation. It was busy tonight

Consistent High Quality - Edit
Supe is a vegan Japanese restaurant in Georgetown by the Jetties.
Read moreI ordered the salad, cucumber roll, Inari, Miso tempura ramen, and special Keefe. Although I don’t recommend the salad—fresh veggies but bland sauce—, the rolls without the mayo were refreshing as was the sweet and herbal keefe. Inari was on par and the miso ramen, was again a high quality soup with delicious fried emoji mushrooms.
While it’s not specific Panang cuisine, it’s a good option if you want something reliably refreshing and nutritious.

Very good but not perfect - Edit
Friendly staff, tasty curry tempeh and delicious sushi, but our fried ramen and tempeh fried rice were uninspiring and lacked flavour. We’d return for the sushi though…

Delicious food - Edit
We loved "Kusa" in Kuala Lumpur and thus we wanted to visit "Supe" in Georgetown as well, as they seem to have had the same manager some time ago (judging from the naming history of both restaurants) and the menu is roughly the same.
Read moreThe experience was a bit different because this restaurant is much more relaxed and a lot more down to earth. It was a bit untidy, but clean.
There is a toilet upstairs, but it was totally wet and a bit derelict, although it was clean, too.
During our second visit we got to know that they are planning to refurbish the whole restaurant.
Whatever - we did love the food, so much that we have to give "Supe" five stars, especially when comparing the food to other restaurants we visited!
We came here twice and all in all we had different kinds of maki, the pure inari, the spongy tofu, the potato wedges, the jealousy soup and the supe ramen. We liked everything a lot and couldn‘t even decide what we loved best.
The waitress was friendly and the location is very good because it is so central.
To conclude, we enjoyed their delicious food so much that we came back for a second visit, and it was just as good.

Not what it uses to be! :( - Edit
This place used to be (back in Jan 2020) out of this World! The staff, the food, the ambience, all used to be really great and delicious!
Read moreBeen here today (July 2022), food tasteless, ambiance not the same, no toilet, cockroaches in the basket containing napkins, we got served a flowers tea pot (which was probably reused at least 3-4 times).....
To cut a long story short, disappointing! I believe it is under new management, such a shame! :(
Pros: Has vegan options
Cons: All of the above

After discovering the pandemic knocked out sushi kitchen at gurney plaza and in addition SUPE vegan which took over sushi kitchen, I had to try SUPE vegan in Georgetown. Verdict: chef and management need to work harder. Good brand from past experience with sushi kitchen.

Tiny sushi, but amazing - Edit
The service was great, the food was really tasty and beautifully presented, but the sushi and portion sizes were miniature 😂 My partner ordered the plate of 18 sushi expecting it to be a perfect size meal for him as he is a very hungry person, so we couldn’t help but laugh when we saw it! He enjoyed the sushi flavours and said the wasabi was amazing.
Read moreI ordered the crumbed tempeh with cucumber and vegan mayo. It was amazing. The edamame, cucumber, vegan mayo sushi was incredible too but I wish there were more pieces in a serve for the price.
We also had a pot of Japanese green tea for RM3 each which has unlimited refills, which was awesome.
The atmosphere was quite humble and unpretentious for the high standard of food served which was nice.
Pros: All vegan and all amazing!, Beautifully presented and tasty, Healthy options
Cons: Small portions for the price, Expensive for Malaysia

Experimental Japanese-Inspired Food. Amazing Dessert Cakes. - Edit
Formerly known as Sushi Kitchen, SUPE was an eatery I visited multiple times during my 2 week stat in Penang. Every dish I ordered from there was on point (satisfying): from the appetizers, to the ramen, to the apple and chocolate cakes. I once ordered 4 slices of their apple cake and chocolate cake to go-- and afterwards, the restaurant was sold out of it for the night!
Read morePlease note that this restaurant doesn't offer authentic, traditional Japanese cuisine-- the dishes are definitely Japanese (ramen, inari sushi, etc.) but SUPE is experimental with their food implementation.
