Delicious and good value

Fully vegan Thai restaurant in the middle of the city. Good value mains, typically around $15, and lots of choice of stir fries, rice, curry, noodles etc.

Favorite place to eat in Auckland

I love this place so much! I love that I can eat everything on the menu. I took my non-veg dad here and he really enjoyed it too.

Pros: full vegan menu, delicious food

Tasty Food, Service Meh

We came here on the basis of various reviews on HappyCow. Wasn't immediately obvious where it was located when we got to the address, as it's located in a kinda mini-mall with other outlets. When we found it, it looked pretty basic, but clean. The sign out front said they were 100% vegan, then it mentioned they were vegetarian - quite confusing.

When we looked at the menu, there were lots of mentions of all kinds of meat, without any "quotes" around the words to indicate it wasn't really meat. All the usuals, plus things like mutton, steak etc. But on the front of the menu it said there was no meat, but we asked anyway. Apparently all the places where it says meat, they have replaced with tofu. As far as I'm aware, they don't use any other kind of protein.

Now to the good stuff. We ordered spring rolls & Pad Thai to share. The spring rolls came out in a few minutes, were piping hot and tasted great, not greasy at all. Tick.
About 5 minutes after the Pad Thai arrived, which was delicious. If I had to pick holes, the noodles were so long that it was really hard to pickup without splashing sauce on the table. But that's really nitpicking, because I would order that again in a heartbeat.

So would I go back again? Probably yes, but maybe takeaway instead?

Pros: Excellent food, Good value

Cons: Service only Ok, Ambience meh

Delicious!

The food was just SO TASTY. We ordered the steamed dumplings, “chicken” in peanut sauce and stirfried egg plant in special sauce. The presentation is lovely and the food is cooked to a very high quality

Nice!

The place is a little hard to find at first, as it's behind some dumpling place.

Lots of options, certainly not just typical Thai classis, but loads of Chinese style stuff too.

It's a little hard to choose, also because some dishes cost way more than others and it's not always clear why (larger portions?). Service is very friendly though they don't all speak English super well.

Went here twice and enjoyed it quite a lot, though it's not the best looking place, not the cheapest or best. But it has a bit of everything and it's well worth visiting imho.

Tasty

Saw this on happycow and added it to our to-eat list. I had the fried rice and it was good. Also had a fried roll. The place is very simple with no frills.

Terrible

Both our dishes tasted awful. Was like eating sugar covered noodles. Pad Thai peanuts were blended to sand like texture, dry, bland and weird taste. Plates chipped, dirty walls and toilet. Only excuses when we gave them feedback.

Absolutely scrumptious!

After wanting to visit for ages my partner and I finally went to Sunflower Thai last night and it did not disappoint. We had the panfried dumplings to start, they were beautifully fresh and the dough was perfect. My partner has a tofu noodle dish which looked great and tasted even better and I had the soy chicken in peanut sauce, which was lovely but very rich and filling, it was served with a big slice of lettuce and some salad, and wrapping a bundle in lettuce to eat it was really tasty. All in all, I can't wait to go back!

Pros: lovely food

Cons: a little tucked away, can be hard to spot

bland

The red bean pancake was simple but very nice, then I had the noodle soup with tofu chicken and veggies, it was very bland: no spices, no herbs, just a basic broth.

Pros: All vegan, Nice service

Cons: Bland

Very nice service but disappointing

We ordered a noodle dish with vegetables and tofu, and a peanut sauce chicken dish. The noodle dish was bland, the tofu barely cooked, chewy and tasteless. The peanut sauce dish was too sweet and too strong in lemongrass. The texture of the chicken was very nice, though. Tomatoes were terrible.
Despite an excellent service and a very hardworking and friendly staff, I will not go back there.

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Does not take non-NZ credit cards

delectable thai food

this place is awesome! great tasting thai dishes, the spring rolls were phenomenal and the spicy crispy chicken was delish (even though i’m not a fan of faux meat and consume it rarely). definitely highly recommended as the selection is huge

Pros: friendly staff, great selection of authentic thai-tasting dishes, value for money

Favorite Thai

This place is amazing, although being a bit hidden has a looot of vegan options and all completely full of flavor.

I believe it's one of my most favorite curry and oh, don't forget to get the sesame pancake, delicious!

I would say it's the best place in Auckland.

Pros: Vegan, delicious, a lot of options

Good casual Thai restaurant

There are a lot of menu for vegan. I ordered Green curry with rice $14.5. It was a little bit spicy and plenty for me but I was satisfied because I had never seen such vegan Thai curry with full of vegetables. The atmosphere is very casual.

If I could go here every day, I would.

My favorite restaurant in Auckland.

Cheap, FANTASTIC food, kind employees that make you feel welcome, and it's in the CBD.

I get the rice with spicy 'chicken' and veg every time I visit and never get disappointed.

The only thing that bothers me about Sunflower is the lack of natural light, but the quality of food makes up for this.

Pros: The best vegan food in Auckland, in the CBD, cheap food, and kind staff

Cons: Strong artificial lighting

Good and quick

Stopped in here while shopping on nearby Queen Street. We ordered several dishes and all were very good. We had a toddler with us and they served us quickly enough there was no meltdown:) It's one street off Queen in the back of an arcade. Very plain decor but clean and solid Thai flavors.

Pros: Flavor, Variety, Quick service

Cons: Decor

Food was fine. Sour and spicy soup and raad na were a bit bland. Spicy chicken and rice was amazing!!!

No windows in the restaurant. Simple decor. Very friendly, and we saw an interesting and mixed clientele. Great prices.

Tantalising Options, All Vegan

Sunflower restaurant is entirely vegan, and the owners are really lovely people. The restaurant is very big on vegan mock / faux meats, however if that's not your thing, you can always have one of the vegetable options like the eggplant dish (which I absolutely love) or the pad thai (another one of my favourites). I haven't tried every single item on their menu yet as I always end up having one of the same dishes that I've had. Highly recommend the pad thai; red curry; green curry; crispy chicken with brown rice; dumplings; and pad thai! Try the pad thai first.

Pros: Delicious vegan foods, Very affordable, Friendly staff
