I was craving some vegan tacos that were similar to the ones I had in CDMX. These were close. Love the ambiance but few turnoffs.

I had the 3 tacos combo plate. The tacos were good. I had the veggie, al pastor and carnitas. The al pastor was the best of the three. The rice and beans were alright. The portion size could have been a little bigger.
Read moreThe refried beans were a little bland and they charge $0.65 for salsa which wasn’t great. That just seems a little petty. Overall I would definitely come back though.

Also not as expensive as the rest of LA. Taco plate with 3 tacos for 12 bucks. Variety of vegan meats. Location was a little loud, but generally cool. Their drinks are also amazing. Spicy is actually spicy. Would return anytime.

We had the cheese quesadilla and the 3 taco plate with rice and beans. The cheese quesadilla was very basic and it cost extra to even add a dipping sauce (we had guac). The tacos were good, but we didn’t expect them to be so small. The range of proteins was nice however.

This is a charming place. It was our first stop on an overnight layover to LA. It did not disappoint. We got 3 tacos with beans and rice, which was very filling. We loved the tacos. I couldn't resist and got a mango agua fresca, which was very refreshing and perfectly sweet. I was tempted by the corn, so I ordered it on the side. I was expecting Mexican Street corn vibes, but it was a simple buttered corn side dish I could've done without, not bad, just not what I was hoping for. But overall, I would recommend and definitely come back.

Amazing vegan Mexican restaurant downtown! They have a relatively small menu, but the food was incredible! The quesedillas were filled with vegan cheese, and they have lots of plant-based protein such as saitan or soy curls. The staff is extremely friendly and open-minded and the seating area outside is very beautiful 😊

Great vegan restaurant with nice environment. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Prices were a little high and the food lacks flavor. Would return but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Delicious vegan tacos! The margarita was surprisingly good too; not too sweet. The tacos were so flavorful and well seasoned. I was hesitant about the fish taco but it was so good! Next time I gotta try those loaded fries or nachos *drooling*

I ordered over the phone for pick-up. Easy ordering and pick-up process. “Pollo” burrito was packed with ingredients, flavor was solid not outstanding, especially for the price I paid. I enjoyed the veggies I added. Would likely come back to explore more of their menu.

Very tasty vegan Mexican food in a cute setting - Edit
I had a traditional burrito with the 'pollo', which was soybean based, and the chipotle mayo. This was the best burrito I have had in a long time, and the chipotle crema was incredible!! They also had a limited edition strawberry horchata which was fun. Lovely place to sit outside with a covered patio. Reasonably priced and decent portion sizes.

We had the fish taco (which was great), the taco plate with one peach of the proteins (I really loved their jackfruit, which was deliciously smoky), and the traditional burrito with the seitan. The burrito is slightly fried and comes to you cut in half. All was very good/great. The chips and guacamole were the only place they faltered. They were bland.

Read moreI also love the fact they make their ingredients in-house. Unfortunately it’s become rare, moving most food spots into assembly lines for brand cheeses and vegan meats, but Sugar Taco gives me a reason to not cook myself!
