Cool little place - Edit
Enjoyed the options here. Had the curry of the day and something else that I can’t remember the name of, but it was all nice. Quirky little place with nice staff. Moderate to good prices. Great to have a little place like this that’s 100% vegan.

I had the curry banquet (£12) and an iced chai (£2). Flavours were excellent, but I wouldn't say the portions were huge. I don't think it's too expensive compared to other places these days but the prices have increased. There's seating or you can take out. Service was a bit slow, but they may have been short-handed that day. I'm sure I'll visit again.

Small curry with ¼ of a naan for £7 - Edit
Dunno where people got the banquet for £5.50 - it's £12 on the menu now. I had a fairly small bowl of curry and daal and rice with naan that turned out to be a quarter of the smallest naan you've ever seen. And I'd still have just about given it 5* as the food was delicious - but it loses a star as I was told to throw my aluminium drinks can in the trash as they don't recycle them

Pros: Tasty food, Nicely presented, Fairly priced
Cons: A quarter of a naan is not a naan, You have to walk past a lot of butchers en route, Recycle your aluminium cans it's 2023 goddammit

Fab! - Edit
Visited on a Saturday and although it was busy we got a table. Companian had a lassi for the first time ever (loved it). I had the curry of the day which also came with the dahl (wonderful), companion had the samosa chat which was also good. Great flavours, lovely staff. And fantastic value for money. If I had had a bigger appetite I would have loved to have had the thali dish as it looked amazing and great value.

Wallah a place to have a Snack! - Edit
I’ve been twice before but for some reason never left a review!
Read moreJust like it tasted when I travelled Southern India years ago. Authentic and simple with gobsmacking flavour. Never have I tasted Indian food this good in the UK north of London.
Curry Banquet of the Day £10. A spicy Dansak curry (white cabbage, tomato, cumin, garam masala, onion, red chilli and lentils) and rice with naan bread, the best daal in the Toon, 2 pakoras, 2 samosas, green chutney, tamarind chutney and mango chutney. You could have rolled me out the snack shack. Delightful.
Washed down with a good Masala Chai.
Would I recommend? Get there soon
Will I return? I have and I’m on a bungee now, so every time I hit the Toon it’s my go-to place.
Staff are lovely too.
Well done SW

Great value and delicious - Edit
This is a place in the Grainger market that has snacks but also curries. We ordered the curry of the day banquet and the maharajah’s banquet. We managed to find a table in the cafe which was good. The curry of the day was delicious and served with dhal, naan, 2 samosas and 2 pakoras. I had the maharaja banquet which was pani puri, bel puri and samosas and pakora. Everything was really nice. I particularly liked the pani puri. Service was fast and we were both full.

The food was super tasty for very good prices. Varied choices for such a small place, very busy, but everyone in line managed to get a table just in time. They have a vegan lassi drink which was great. Can not recommend this place enough.

A taste of India - Edit
This is located inside the Granger Mall. The place is hectic, but the food here is quite nice—and there is indeed a bunch of seating available: you order at the counter, then grab a seat. I had a panda puri, which I enjoyed. The prices here are quite reasonable.

A taste of India in Newcastle - Edit
During our four night stay in the city, Snackwallah became our lunchtime staple - starting with a samosa plate on day one and a pakora plate on day two - just £3 per plate, with amazing chutneys (tomato and coriander chutneys are made in-house and they’re so delicious).
Read moreDay three, we had a fantastic curry (they have a different curry each day) - ours was a Gobhee Sabzi - which was served with rice and a samosa on the side. And on our last day, we reverted to the pakoras.
Rachel, Ravi and team are so incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they invited us to try chai. And on our last day, they kindly treated us to their pani puri, apparently a catalyst for this wonderful venture - mini works of art and so tasty too!
Since our visit, they’ve moved into a larger unit with more seating! Will definitely be back if and when we are next in Newcastle!
