Just okay at best - Edit
On my 12th day in Japan and I’m very grateful for pizza but this was just okay for me and service was not good.
Read moreWe arrived an hour after they opened and there was only 1 other table.
Our juice and cocktails took long to come out and we wanted another round while we waited for our food but the server never came back.
Thankfully we ordered fries as an appetizer because we were starving but they also took long and even worse, they were overcooked, dry and hollow and now we were out of drinks :/
By the time our pizza came, the place was full but some heads turning looking for a server to come take orders.
The pizza itself was just okay. The vegan meat was good but as a whole the pizza was kinda bland, I wasn’t crazy about the cheese. The crust is like frozen pizza cracker style crust.
This was overall kinda disappointing. We had a cheeseless pizza in Tokyo which was excellent so I’m not just basing this off of western standards despite it being Westerner-owned.
They eventually put out a water pitcher which helped make up for the lack of ability to order more drinks

Delicious food and friendly atmosphere - Edit
I wish I could give this place 5 stars! Not only is the food delicious but the workers are so kind! I’m not the most social person but the staff made me feel very welcomed and I ended up having a great conversation while I waited for my food. The food is delicious and I was informed that the owner makes everything in house including the bread! I ended up getting a couple of slices, a calzone, meatball sandwich, and a brownie and everything was delicious! Do yourself a favor and check this place out! Plus for gluten free people they offer gluten free beer!

Service
A warm welcome from the landlady. Menu supplied and order quickly taken. Nice chat between drinks and an update on how long I could expect to wait for my food to arrive was provided. She also checked in with other patrons to see what they thought of their food which was a nice touch.
Food
I got an M Pizza and it was more than enough for me. Washed down with 3 umeshu beers. The pizza itself had decently melting plant based cheese on it. Some jalapeños, some plant based meat. A thin crust that wasn’t too rigid and not too greasy. Each slice folded in half well and had a crispiness without feeling like you were biting into a cracker or ryvita. The beers had a strong smell of umeshu but the flavour wasn’t dominated by it. It had a subtle hit on the overall flavour and left a nice aftertaste. Really nice.
Price
Fairly costly. However, it was a a pretty good pizza and the umeshu beer was great. 5000jpy or so? I still think I’d pay more for a comparable pizza at home (and definitely more for the beers) so it’s all good.

Vegan options undersells how good this is - Edit
After eating traditional Japanese options for 3 weeks we decided to find western food and after reading the description decided to come here. I was suprised that there was two full pages of vegan pizza options, 2 vegan calzone options as well as poutine using vegan cheese! You are truely spoilt for choice here. Everything is made fresh to order, so be prepared for a wait (as with most vegan japanese places) however the taste is incredible. Amazing base, great flavour, mock meat and cheese is amazing. Would rate 5 stars if i could.

vegan social hub! - Edit
Always running into people you know at Slices, it serves as a great community spot for vegans. All their food is delicious, though there's quite a long wait typically. They even sell an array of vegan cheeses!

Slices - Edit
The vegan options are great and the pizza was good, however it was 3700 yen for a medium pizza ( the smallest size ) and there was just one person working so we had a long wait which is okay and the pizza was undercooked but that doesn’t matter too much, just the price shocked me $78 NZD for two pizzas

The meat wasn’t properly heated and the burger patty was so hard it was unpleasant to eat. I was also missing sauce on the burger.

Good pizza - Edit
Good pizza for a pizza lover like me. The one with bacon was really nice. Nice saltiness. Could've used more cheese, and irritating that you have to buy at least one drink.

Good BLT and boba teas - Edit
Our server spoke excellent English. Separate page in the menu for vegan options. Also had vegan boba tea in a few interesting flavors; I tried the rosehips boba with soymilk but they also had a yuzu flavor that sounded interesting. I got the vegan BLT sandwich and it was great! It had great flavors and textures. I would return if in the area again.

Nice western food - Edit
I appreciate that the vegan cheeses and meats here are made in-house and the peperoni pizza was good (the dough could have been better). I think ¥700 is a steep price though for a slice that is the equivalent of 1/5 of an European pizza

Best in Osaka? - Edit
Sang (the owner) is very lovely, strike up a conversation while you're there and tell her Dom sent you. She's very aware of what vegan means and makes some impressive in-house meats and cheeses for her vegan menu. You can get a variety of pizzas, a hot dog, a burger, fried chicken, just to name a few. Really worth a visit.

Great pizza - Edit
It's hard to find vegan pizza in Japan, let alone good pizza, and I was heavily craving something greasy and juicy, not too heavy so I was able to get back out on the town. Slices' pizza hit the spot, really tasty and I forgot that I was in Japan briefly. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Osaka and try more options!

Good vegan pepperoni pizza. Definitely one of the better vegan pizzas in japan. I tried the hotdog as well an it was good, could’ve used some ketchup though! The side salad had really good dressing as well, and the owner made me vegan ranch for my pizza.

Updated Review - Edit
I’ve grown to love slices over the years. Their menu continues to expand and they’ve been improving so many of their meats and cheeses.
Read moreRecently they started an online vegan meat and cheese shop which ships all over Japan. I tried a bunch of these meats and was quite impressed. I especially liked their pepperoni and thai sausage.
They do still allow smoking which is a big bummer for me but it’s allowed in so many other places in Japan, it’s not really unusual.
I’ve been so satisfied by their recent menu improves and offerings, this is the first time I’ve gone back to revise a review. Well done!
