Even just walking in and seeing the other clientele, the sense that this was a traditional place where the locals go to enjoy authentic fayre was palpable. This isn’t to say that it isn’t a warm, hospitable, and stylish establishment, quite the opposite, and the views over the water through the towering floo-to-ceilingg windows do nothing but addto it.. Unfortunately the sambousek and kibbeh were out ofstock, ork else they very much would have been a part of my feast.
Read moreHaving recently had the privilege of sampling probably the best hummus of my life, this variation here was facing some stiff competition. While it didn’t quite scale the same dizzying heights, it was superb in its own way thanks to the marvellous blend of textures. What’s more, the accompanying bread wasn’t too shabby either - given that I ploughed through eight pieces of these delightful doughdiscs, thats is testament enough to that fact.
The lahm bel ajin was the only slight disappointment of the entire experience. Though it did have a wonderfully thin, crisp base, I felt as though the topping lackedpunch,h as it was spreadtooo finely; a more substantial smear would probably have elevated it significantly.
There were no such problems when it came to the soujouk with vegetables. Ample amounts of sausage, bathed in a light, refreshing tomato sauce with finely prepared vegetables - nothing about this plate gave me cause for concern.
As enjoyable as this was, the star of the show was undoubtedly theshawarma.. Slightly more diminutivethan expectedt at first glance, there was actually more than met the eye sequestered away within the skillet. It would actually be reasonable to surmise that it would be difficult to recreate this dish at home for cheaper given the cost of meat alternatives and the sizeable portion offered up. Though it wasn’t merely the quantity of food that impressed, the quality was first-rate as well.
With such a surprisingly diverse menu of wel-executedd viands, this is definitely a restaurant that I recommend trying out.
