Tasty Mexican food

Enjoyed the burrito. It was nice to get a break from Thai food, and it's good Mexican food too!

Delicious and fresh

I didn’t really want to eat Mexican food in Thailand, but I’m glad I did. Everything was delicious, even better than the Mexican food I ate in California. The tortillas were home made and the best I’ve ever tasted, so light. I had veg fajitas and they were so tasty. Also had a frozen margarita and it was so good we went back in for more, would recommend getting a jug.
The staff are really lovely and helpful. Definitely recommend it. #Veganuary

Yummy Mexican food

Delicious fresh, homemade Mexican food. My favourite in Thailand, I wish there was somewhere like this in Bangkok (where we live). No fuss to make dishes vegan by removing cheese and sour cream and the ingredients and flavours are so good that it still tastes great. Cocktails are good too!

Burritooo

Love this place, it's great to have something other than just Thai food while in Khao Lak. I tried the burrito a couple of times and it was great. Very filling and at the same time so tasty.
Fresh ingredients, cool atmosphere, and friendly owner.
Great place, recommended!

Delicious Burrito

So glad we found this place. After 3 weeks of Thai food, we were craving Mexican beans & this doesn't disappoint 👍
The burrito was huge & delicious. Great value for money.

Pros: Lots of vegan/veggie options

Very good

We had burritos, which were very tasty.😄The owner adjusts the dishes for you, if you ask him for a vegetarian or vegan version.

Vegan options available

Vegan options are available even if the menu doesn’t state it. Staff is super friendly and checked in several times to make sure I was happy. I had the fajitas (without sour cream) and a side of guacamole - so good!
There’s a pool table and some people come for drinks & atmosphere only. Some snacks and sides available too.
More expensive than the local options, but I was willing to pay it just to break the monotony and have some different veggies (avocado, peppers, mushrooms, etc) and beans.

Pros: Vegan options , Friendly staff , Location

Cons: Expensive

Super fresh

Great Mexican food, owner is super friendly. Staff were able to cater to vegans. The home made salsa if fantastic. My husband had the burrito veganised, great sized meal and very tasty, not dry at all. I had the nachos (veganised) they were very good though I must say the burrito was better. It’s a great place to visit if you want a break from Thai food.

Pros: Good sized portions , Friendly staff , Great vibe

Good Mexican food

Good Mexican food in a nice setting. I had the burrito made vegan (no cheese) and it was pretty tasty. The rice was a little dry and they were out of guac (seasonal) but the flavour was good and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. In addition the staff were very friendly and the serving sizes were good for the price.

Pros: Vegetarian options labelled, Vegan on request, Friendly staff

REAL Mexican in Thailand, a special rarity

I have lived in Thailand for 10 months now, and I have found it is impossible to find good Mexican food for a decent price
Not only is the food at Rusty Pelican delicious, it comes at a fair price and a good portion! (I could have ordered more not because I was hungry but because it tasted so wonderful!)

Small mexican restaurant in Khao Lak, Thailand
LA owner
Homey, fresh, homemade, & flavorful food, even without the meat!
The tortillas, which tasted homemade, were especially incredible
I read a review that said the burrito was too dry without the meat
However, my burrito was overflowing with bell peppers/mushrooms/onions/tomatoes, red rice, and black beans, very moist and very flavorful!
I would absolutely eat this back in California
Comfortable, breezy atmosphere

Pros: accomodating, fresh, healthy tasting, good value

Good Flavours

I ordered a vegan burritto. It wasnt on the menu but the waiter and staff in the kitchen were very accomodating and put it together for me. I absolutely LOVE mexican food and can make a amazing burrito myself when given the right ingredients so this is a tough review. The individual flavours of the food were spot on and delicious. But when you take a tradional chicken/steak burrito and remove the animal products to turn it vegan you're not eating a 'vegan' burrito, ur simply eating a vegan burrito. And this one was dry. Too much rice gave a dry texture and not enough beans or vegies to give more flavour or moisture. And no pico de gallo or guac. I think overall they did a ok job and i would come back but requrest little rice/more beans vegies to try to give it more moisture. And I agree with the previous review. Nothing on the menu says anything about veg/vegan. Would be nice if they offered it as a choice as its a turn off on a menu to not see that available in todays market. Unfortunetly Khao Lak leaves something to be desired for veg/vegan options.

Pros: Very Accomodating staff, They use black beans!

Cons: Menu does not offer veg/vegan main dishes

AMAZING FOOD BUT

REVISED BELOW. the chips n salsa and the burrito I had were exceptional. huge portions and full flavor. very close to perfect Mexican flavors mmmm. BUT. the only option that was vegan on the menu was the chips n salsa. I had to ask the chef personally if he would make me a vegan burrito instead of the chicken/steak as it was listed. he did it no problem and it was amazing and fast. I would have given 5 stars if the menu had simply listed something like "most of these dishes can be made vegan just ask" or even better if there was a vegan option printed :) so 5 stars for quality of food and 4 for not mentioning vegan on the menu :P since this is HappyCow and all. REVISION. I got the tostada salad (which comes with chicken sour cream and cheese) vegan style and it was bad. just bad. I had to knock the restaurant down a star to 3. the chef is the one that suggested I get the salad. it was bad. this was my second day going there so maybe he thought vegans love salads? Just another day being let down by the food here :) oh well.
