All vegan restaurant, very tasty cheap food - Edit
Lots of options to choose from and you can get a good-sized dish for as cheap as 15000kip. So far I have tried the pineapple fried rice (it comes with a mixture of other veggies and some mock meat) and the fresh rice noodle soup, both very tasty!
Read moreLocation is perhaps not the best, the place is hidden away on a small alley, a 2 minute walk away from the main road (I didn't dare to walk there alone on my first night in Vientiane as it looked too dark, but it actually looks perfectly nice and safe during the day)
Pros: Cheap, lots of options, all vegan, yummy
Cons: Location not in the tourist area (though very clos

Great little shabby eatery! - Edit
The shabby surroundings in a back-street belies the fact that the South-East Asian cuisine served here is awesome! Super friendly staff and quick service with a wide variety of options. They do use a lot of mock meat, which I'm not a big fan of, and it would have been nice to have more local Lao-style dishes to choose from. But overall it's fantastic food at a good price.

Hands down some of the best vegan food I’ve ever tasted!
Read moreOrder many dishes to share to get a real feel for the place. I would recommend the fake duck with peanut sauce, stir fry vegetables in black bean sauce, fake lamb salad and a big helping of rice! All freshly and wonderfully prepared and served with a smile.

Everything is delicious! - Edit
We ate here three times in two days - everything we had was well cooked and flavoured, and absolutely delicious.
Read moreThe space itself is basic but welcoming.
The grilled chicken is amazing, as was the roast duck and mixed fried rice. They also have ingredients to buy and take away. My favourite was something similar to pork scratchings.
Five dishes from the menu came to just 90,000 Kip (around 8GBP or 6.5USD).
Pros: Loads of choice, Everything is delicious, Great value for money

Lovely - Edit
A really simple but cute and cheap place serving local cuisine. The papaya salad and is fantastic and a steal at only 10000 kip, that's less than a pound.

Quite reasonable, simple food at low to moderate prices (85,000 for three people). Stays open later than Phounsub so maybe better to go in the evening to this one.

Our favourite place in Vientiane - Edit
We really enjoyed the food here- lots of fake meat but very tasty, we especially liked the peanut sauce roast duck. The staff were really friendly and helpful and there are some vegan snacks you can buy to take away. The food seemed fresh and in the evenings they make noodle soup in as big pot out the front. We ended up back in Vientiane a second time and couldn’t help but go here again.

Yummy and cheap - Edit
Food is very cheap and tasty! Was a little bit disturbed by some of the choices on the menu (fish womb soup) but was reassured it was all vegan, all fake meat and fish. I had the pineapple fried rice which was delicious and also tried the fried chicken which was very yummy and 100% vegan!

I found the good reviews so I tried here, very disappointed with the taste. I tried many kind of food but only Phoe Lao and papaya salad are good, the rest I couldn't eat them.

I was so excited to find a vegan buffet in overpriced Vientiane. But, sorry, I was very disappointed with this place. The food was average to say the least and everything but the rice and soup were cold (was there at 11.30am). The dishes are served in Bain Marie's but with no heating elements.
Read moreI ended up eating a rather large handful of the fake pork crackling and a few of the rice paper rolls as they were the only thing with any taste. Disappointed.
Pros: in a back street so I enjoyed the adventure to fin, vegan, so cruelty free

Adorable, Cheap and Tasty - Edit
The food was good, so cheap and totally vegan. So nice to be able to eat local food that's also vegan ( so much of the time my vegan finds are western focused). Will be coming back here for lunch for the entire duration of my stay in Vientiane :)

vegan restaurant with very nice food - Edit
the extensive menu is in both English and Lao and the majority of the menu prices range from 15,000 to 30,000 kip ... the quality and quantity of food are both good ... staff are very friendly but have limited English but ordering is not a problem as you can just point to menu items ... Happy Cow map and directions are accurate

Yummy - Edit
I ate here shortly after my 80km bike ride into Laos. The menu is vast with many styles of food to choose from. I chose the papaya salad and a yellow noodle dish. Both had fast turnaround and exploded with freshness! In total it cost 30k kip for two meals; not bad.

I'd ate a delicious "duck something" and mixed rice with tofu.
Read moreThe staff are really friendly, so they'll help you to order, also they didn't speak a good English, but it's just a detail, because I can not speak Lao.

They have many vegan options but on the picture it looked like the Pad Thai might have egg in it and they have a salad with mayonnaise so think of that while ordering.

all vegan - Edit
We came here with a bunch of people from our tour group during a night off as it was close to our hotel. The staff was friendly and helped us order. One group specifically requested mild dishes and while our group wanted spicier, it was mild as well. Maybe they assumed we all wanted it that way. In any case, it was a good dinner as everything was vegan and reasonably priced. We got the drunken noodles, tofu with basil and morning glory.

Not really a vegan restaurant, or even friendly - Edit
I was under the assumption that the cafe is vegan, but it was actually not vegan at all and barely even vegan friendly. The two workers didn't speak a word of english including the word 'vegan', and besides the words "Happy Cow" on the menu, it had no indication that something on it was vegan.

Lovely quaint Vegan /'jai'' restaurant inVientiane - Edit
As other reviewers have pointed out, the restaurant is heavy on mock meats (quite common at Asian vegan restaurants). However the menu is cheap and extensive and the food was very tasty. They're open 8am-10pm, great for travelers. They have an English menu as well as a large picture menu which is helpful for picking out food. Owner/waiter was lovely and friendly despite the language barrier. FYI, This is a local hole in the wall type of restaurant in terms of ambience.
