The food just doesn’t meet the hype. - Edit
Stayed here for a couple days recently and ate our meals at Ravens’. First, the place is very nice, the staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful. The customer service was excellent.
Read moreThe menu obviously is intended to reflect an upscale, inventive, trendy vibe. The problem is the food just doesn’t deliver. The food’s not bad, it’s just not anything really special, often a bit dull or bland and often didn’t really match the menu description well.

Best Vegan Breakfast - Edit
There isn’t much more you can want for a vegan brunch. Fully vegan restraint attached to an Inn. The hot chocolate was amazing and both of the Chilaquiles and Florentine were perfect. Staff was friendly and the Inn was great to walk around. Must go if you’re in Mendocino!

Worth eating here whether or not you stay at the Inn - Edit
I had breakfast at here at Ravens’ Restaurant several years ago while on a motorcycle trip along Highway 1, and it inspired me to return to stay at Stanford Inn. During our recent stay, we had two very memorable and satisfying meals at the restaurant while staying at the Stanford Inn. The dinner featured a mushroom tasting menu with locally foraged mushrooms. The also have a few dishes made with sea palm (kelp). The breakfast included lovely fresh juices and a nice vegan hollandaise sauce on a mushroom Benedict. Very creative healthy and well-made food!

Bland, Overrated - Edit
This is the worst meal I’ve had at an all vegan restaurant. Went for breakfast and got the chilaquiles and breakfast burrito. Everything was so bland and flavored with canned enchilada sauce. Maybe other dishes are better but this was laughingly bad. Would give 1 star if possible

Menu needs a lot of improvement - Edit
Stayed at the hotel for a week. I was underwhelmed by Ravens’ menu. For the prices they have (a piece of cake is $20) and the fine dining experience they seem to strive for, their food doesn’t make the cut.
Read moreThe raviolis tasted odd. The empanadas were like something I’d expect from an omni restaurant that doesn’t quite understand what vegan food is.
I did end up liking the curry on the dinner menu and just stuck with that. However, one night there was a comically low amount of curry in the dish; it was very dry. I had to send it back and it took like 10 mins to come back.
I just think they need to upgrade their menu. I was underwhelmed.

Delicious dining experience - Edit
We had breakfast and dinner here daily as part of our bucket list stay at Stanford Inn, so we got to try most of the menu, and were just delighted. We stayed with our two dogs so the dog friendly environment was a must. Dogs were not just tolerated but welcomed here (they were offered beds to lie on, sweet potato chews, and fawned over by staff). There are water bowls for them all over the property and refilled regularly. Now onto the human dining: After strolling the carefully tended vegetable garden on the Stanford grounds it was no surprise that many of our favorite dishes were vegetable forward. Those fresh vegetables were outstanding. The kale stack was a surprise delight -- so flavorful. We also loved the garden scramble. The ravioli did not disappoint and we enjoyed the chocolate ganache tart. Everything was beautifully plated with fresh edible flowers. We picked up The Raven's cookbook -- although we know we won't be able to replicate the flavor without a garden. All of the dishes had a health slant - nothing overly sweet or oily -- and still felt decadent. Dining in Mendocino is spendy - Ravens was a good value by comparison. We were not tempted to go elsewhere or saddened by our decision to stick with The Ravens for dining for our stay.

A vegan haven - Edit
Thank goodness for The Ravens. The restaurant is the ultimate expression of a certain kind of vegan restaurant, with warm wood tones, most items made from scratch, and many made with vegetables grown in their extensive garden. We stayed at the Inn for a few days and had the opportunity to eat multiple breakfasts and dinners at the Inn. It's clearly the best option for vegans in coastal Northern California, and it's absolutely worth a visit. The meals are not designed to shock you or overwhelm you; instead, they're meant to be that perfect healthy, comfort food served in a generous setting. Everyone is remarkably friendly, and the diversity of options is strong. Highly recommended, both as a restaurant and an Inn.

Consistently Solid - Edit
I stayed at Stanford Inn for a few days and ate several breakfasts & dinners at Ravens' Restaurant. The worst thing I had was maybe a 3.5 star meal, and almost everything else was a 4.5-5 star. Service was incredible, great environment, and overall the quality is insanely high.

Very uneven food quality - Edit
Ravens’ bids itself as a high end vegan restaurant. I’ve eaten at high end vegan restaurants throughout the US and Unfortunately it does not live up to the hype. Some of the food is excellent, while other dishes need work. Here are the things we ate and their grades: barbecued tofu (C-, simple baked tofu smothered in barbecue sauce that was overly heavy in cumin—not baked WITH the barbecue sauce); mashed potatoes (B-, ok, nothing special); roasted corn (A), flatbread (B-, kind of hard and dry), waffle (A), pancakes (A), hot chocolate (C-, tasted dusty), scone (A), signature polenta breakfast (D, way overloaded with dried herbs, could not even taste the polenta). The service was excellent and the room and view were very pleasant and relaxing.

Amazing Vegan Experience - Edit
The food was delicious, healthy and well presented. The elevated view across the landscape was tremendous. The decor was pleasant and the staff was wonderful. Although the restaurant is connected to the Stanford Inn, many locals frequent here. Well worth a visit or many when you’re in the Mendocino area.

Amazing restaurant gorgeous view! - Edit
We are staying at the Stanford Inn and after trying the breakfast and dinner ewe decided to eat there all week. Great variety of delicious options, outstanding attentive service, the view of the gardens and ocean adds to the experience. Good for special occasions, pet friendly (separate room) and creative use of seasonal flowers. Highly recommended

Fantastic vegan breakfasts! - Edit
Been here several times over the years. The breakfast menu is the best of any vegan place I’ve ever been to. Everything on the breakfast menu is tasty. The 5 stars are for breakfast.
Read moreBeen here for dinner several times as well. The dinner menu is hit or miss. Some of the dishes like the Caesar salad, tamari-maple glazed tofu, and ravioli are fantastic. Some others are ok, not great. The service is excellent most of the time. For dinner, I would give 4 stars.
The live pianist on Saturday night dinners is well-intentioned but disappointing. I’ve heard this particular pianist on two separate trips in 2024 and 2025. (I am a professional musician so I am being critical.)
They have a proper dining room as well as a bar/lounge area. Dogs are allowed indoors at this lounge/bar area. It so nice to be able to eat indoors with your well-behaved dog where it’s warm and cozy, by the fireplace!
I love the all-vegan menu. So glad this place exists!
Pros: Excellent 100% vegan menu, Dogs welcome indoors.
Cons: Not open for lunch.

Garden Fresh Food Thoughtfully Made - Edit
These are some of the nicest, most caring people on Earth. The philosophy of the property is animals first. The servers are top notch. The food is yummy. They have Rebel Cheese, which is great paired with fruit and crackers and the cheese plates are adorned with edible flowers grown right there on the property. The soups are always amazing. I love the enchiladas with added jalapenos, all breakfasts are incredible, try the ganache and at night, Miriam makes a great Old Fashion. There is piano music on Saturday nights and dogs are welcome to dine in with their people. Portions are huge.

Pretty good 90s style fancy/healthy vegan food - Edit
They have old-school vegan food offerings. It seems like they haven't updated their menu in 20 years. The upside is that they use healthy ingredients. I would make sure to try their brunch.
Read moreBe sure to make a reservation even if it's not for a busy time. They must plan their staffing based on reservations each day, so even if it's almost empty, they might turn you away or ask you to make a reservation for later.

Cons: Dated menus, Expensive, Don't like to take walk-ins without a reservation

Not as good as I had heard - Edit
I had breakfast here on November 16th, 2023. I had heard so much about this establishment over the years and was happy to finally arrive in Mendocino to try it. I couldn't help but notice that there seems to be a trend in the reviews, a downhill trend. Maybe they changed chefs?
Read moreWe ordered the Portobello Benedict and the Polenta with greens. The Benedict was delicious but could have used more mushrooms and a little less mustard in the hollandaise sauce. The polenta was okay but a bit boring.
The coffee was great and so was the hot cocoa. Service was extremely good.
We arrived for breakfast at 9:15 in the morning and we were the only people dining there until a party of three showed up about a half an hour later. Not a good sign.
Pricing seemed a bit unusual. Entrees were expensive but beverages seems to be a bargain.
I'm back at Raven's restaurant for dinner on November 1, 2024, but nothing happened to make me want to change my rating to five stars. I had the Kahlua Mushroom and Coconut rice and my companion had the Sea Palm Pad Thai. Both were delicious and unique but not really that special. Complimentary bread with carrot pate and plant-based butter is served upon request, so don't forget to ask for it. Desserts are huge! More than enough for two people.

Organic and Simple - Edit
The restaurant is beautiful and set amongst trees with a beautiful view of the ocean. The food is very nutritious and and it is very simple with very few ingredients and spices but absolutely delicious. There has been great thought put into the menu and because they grow their own vegetables it is absolutely delicious. After many years the food is still superb!

Vegan hotel food - Edit
We had the chickpea crepe and portobello Benedict. The breakfast main entree flavors were good; however the side (very large quartered - see picture) potatoes were hard in some places. I don’t really feel like the food was that awesome in general - the pieces of veggie in the crepe were quite large (wished the restaurant upped their knife skills game). We had dinner the night before at the vegan restaurant (fog eaters) in town and were much more pleased with the food. I think the redeeming factor was that we didn’t have to pay for breakfast as it was included with the stay. The service was excellent though and our coffee cups stayed full. Ultimately though the food was as if a non-vegan made it - what vegan doesn’t know how to prepare potatoes?! The view of the llamas and rescue donkeys once the fog cleared was fun.

Went here for my anniversary. We didn't stay as a hotel guest but wish we could have. Had dinner and breakfast the next day. Everything was delicious, and the manager comped our desert for our special day. My partner is newly plant based and was super impressed with everything, especially the dressing the Cesar salad (best Cesar dressing she's had ever) She also does not like enchiladas but absolutely loved the ones I ordered. It's not always on the menu but if they have creme brulee do NOT skip out on it. Strawberry shortcake was scone consistency but the whip cream softened it up perfectly.
