Tamales - Edit
A quick stop off the highway. Only the one vegan tamale choice. It was nice and tasty. We had it smothered in green chilis. We ordered the platter that came with 2 sides, pinto beans and rice. Both were good. It also came with sopapillas, I didn’t enjoy them I thought they were a little tough and dry. I did grab a dozen frozen to take home, as I’m in my RV.

Outstanding quick meal -- great stop! - Edit
We needed a quick lunch while in Santa Fe recently, and we're so glad that we trusted the review and stopped here. I'm not sure why this place hasn't received a lot more love from Happy Cow, but it deserves it. The prices are great, the portions generous, and the flavor outstanding! We loved the vegan tamales (which are very hard to find in NM). We both ordered them smothered in red chile (growing up I learned this tip to always get a great meal: order RED in northern NM, but GREEN in southern NM -- Xmas in ABQ).
Read moreThe pinto beans were soft and delicious -- almost melt-in-your mouth perfection.
We love spicy food, so we wanted to try the salsa. The flavor was EXCELLENT, with lots of fresh cilantro. To us, the spice level was a little bit less than Chipotle's red sauce (the spiciest one there), but with a lot more flavor.
This place is now on our radar to stop any time we're passing through Santa Fe. We loved it!

Many vegan options - Edit
My 2 vegan Santa Fe friends took me to Podas while I was visiting. I got the homemade vegan tamales with red sauce. They also offer a green sauce. They were very good. I got pinto beans and flour tortilla with them. They do not offer vegan refried beans but the pinto beans, which come in a corn tortilla cup, were good. My friends got vegan burritos. They were a bit bland, so one friend went to get some salsa. *The salsa was very spicy. I like spicy, and it was even a bit too spicy for me. We got chips and guacamole also. They were also very good, but not knowing how they make the chips red, I skipped those, opting for the plain and the black ones. *I would say bring your own salsa unless you like it really spicy!
