Chocolate Chip Cookie - Edit
Been wanting to get here for a while. Ordered for pickup but was not sure how far in advance to order because of some conflicting info online. Some parts of their menu/website say 1 hour to pick up, others say 20 minutes, and then when I received the confirmation email it said typically 30 minutes. Anyway, we ordered the Monty, a side of Mac n cheese, and a chocolate chip cookie. The Monty was extremely soggy and the peppers and vegetables overtook the flavor of the sandwich. There was a small amount of meat and mostly vegetables which was a shame. Sandwich was like a 6/10 - flavors were good but the fact that it was too soggy to enjoy really took away from the sandwich. Mac n cheese was great and the cookie was a 10/10. Would return and try other sandwiches.

Best salad ever - Edit
Had the Orchard Cobb salad and it was lowkey one of the best salads I’ve ever had! Each component was super flavourful and together perfectly balanced. They have lots of sandwiches and fresh pastries too. Grocery section has a lot of unique and hard-to-find vegan products.

A must visit - Edit
Great prices, incredible food, awesome atmosphere inside. Also has a terrific selection of vegan products for cooking at home that’s really cool. My only request would be that they sell coffees and lattes as well, breakfast isn’t breakfast without some coffee and I always have to go down the street for it

Vegan deli + shop - Edit
It was so nice to find a vegan place where I could try some New York classics and sit down to enjoy my sandwich by the window. I also did a little food shop so I could try vegan products I don't usually have access to. It made my dinners at home easy and accessible.

Trendy - Edit
It's not actually too focused on the grocery part of things. There are a lot of trendy and expensive snacks for sale, though. I bought 2 dates filled with peanut butter for $7, and it says they were grown in Coachella Valley. Those were really good.. I also bought a snack that's just croutons covered in nooch for $8. Decent, kind of enjoyable. Some tiny poptarts for $8, which were so gross. Haha. I looked at some staples that I usually get, too, but they were also overpriced. The vibe I got is that this place exists for Instagram and to be vegan for trend. Dont come out of your way, but if you're already nearby, perhaps only come with the sandwiches in mind?

Good - Edit
The pastrami sandwich was super tasty. Never had vegan pastrami. But it was quite similar to what I remember several years ago when I wasn't vegan.
Read moreThis is considered a $ rather than $$, but I'd consider this more of a $$. The prices for the sandwiches are a bit high. But I guess this is new York, despite me seeing cheaper sandwiches elsewhere

Great selection of vegan treats - Edit
I had the croissant with egg, bacon, cheese, spicy mayo and scallions and it was delicious but a bit sloppy so was quite hard to eat! My husband had the Cuban and which he also loved. Fully vegan with lots of great options and a shop which sells lots of fun vegan treats. Definitely recommend you go if you’re vegan in NY

So many options! - Edit
I visited this weekend and was very impressed by all the selections they had. The soft serve was amazing too. The person who rang me up was a bit flat but maybe that’s just a New York thing. Def stop by if you’re in the area!

Excellent place for vegan food - Edit
I had their breakfast sandwich on a croissant (the miles I think it was called). It was quite good, maybe just a little fatty for my tastes but it is a breakfast sandwich so I got what I ordered😄 It was very fresh and the croissant superb. They also had a great selection of vegan cheese, vegan snack food items, and quite a few other items in the store. They also have a vegan shoe shop next door.
Read moreMy only real critique (and the reason I almost considered 4 stars) is the price really was high, even for Manhattan. I think it ran me around 15 dollars for the breakfast sandwich alone, in Philly I can get something similar for about 8-9. I don't think NYC should be thatttt much more expensive. However, it was larger than most breakfast sandwiches so you do get a good portion, and its perhaps that one reason that saved it from a 4 star rating.
Pros: Breakfast sandwich was fantastic, Love there is a grocery section and vegan shoes, Staff was friendly
Cons: Pricier than I would like

Half Eatery / Half Grocery (Bonus Vegan Clothes) - Edit
Orchard Grocer marries all vegan consumerism into one. You can get take-out, pick up something to cook later, and clothe yourself, all in one convenient place. We focused on the adult takes on vegan fast-food staples. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich, Tiramisu shake, and mac and cheese.
Read moreAll the food is earthy. Simple but good. The fried chicken, a perfectly breaded tofu block. Something was missing: more buffalo sauce, more pickled veggies, more flavor in the tofu. It just fell a little short. The Mac and cheese was saucy, not exactly cheesy, and had a mushroom-like taste. Earthy is the best way to describe it. At the very least, this was a health-conscious mac. Finally, the Tiramisu shake was fantastic, creamy and sweet. We might have been given the wrong flavor (tasted more like salted caramel), but the (possible) mistake was my benefit.
Orchard Grocer offers a lot. I'd love to return for something else off the menu or some Dandies marshmallow spread or some vegan leather shoes. All I know is that I will be back for more.

Great to pickup a quick breakfast! I got the Bowery at the counter and it was perfect! I also picked up these vegan marshmallows from the shelf. So yummy! Limited seating, obviously, because it is a storefront.

Great options - Edit
Lovely place for a quick pitstop. Good stock of vegan goodies and many sandwich options (as well as cakes and pastries). We tried the Bowery and the monty. As we took them to the airport with us, they got a bit soggy (especially the monty because of the amount of mayonnaise, whereas that Bowery held up a bit better). Hard to judge the quality because we ate them 6 hours later, but overall good and I preferred the Bowery (though the monty was bigger and more filled. This also made it slightly sickly by the end).

Good breakfast - Edit
I visited Orchard Grocer in November and it was really good! I had the vegan bagel with cream cheese and lox and it was lovely. The store also had so many options, a lot of things we can’t get in the UK so we bought a few things to bring back with us! Definitely head over there if you are looking for a proper vegan bagel 🥯
