Nice Experience

The restaurant is in the outer courtyard of a shopping centre and is really well decorated. The menu is smaller than other places I have visited in China (similar to menus in the UK) but each dish I had was great. I recommend trying some of the drinks as they are tasty (they also come in a bath of dry ice if Instagram is your thing).

Hidden Gem and was very surprised by its price for its quality

I saw this restaurant recommended in the Michelin guide and decided to travel 30 minutes from the West Lake area to give it a try. It's located below ground level at a company's headquarters, inside a huge atrium. Once inside the office tower area, it's easy to spot. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They offer a tasting menu for 288 RMB per person, but it requires 24 hours advance booking. Alternatively, there are other set menus listed on Dianping with great deals. In the end, the lunch for two people cost us 186 RMB, and we were very happy. We ordered the sesame fried bun (with mushrooms inside), the five-colour fried noodles, the bak kut teh noodles, szechuan style dumplings, the signature soup, and also the truffle rice (almost every table ordered this dish). They also have other dishes such as Yunnan-style tofu. The food was very healthy and yummy!

Pros: Simple Ambience, Friendly Services, Many choices with English Menu

Cons: Unusual location, Reservation required, Short business hours
