We were absolutely enchanted by this place from the very first visit! - Edit
We went there three days in a row, so delightful were the cakes!
Read moreThey are not overly sweet, most of them are gluten-free, wonderfully flavourful, and truly among the finest my wife and I have ever tasted.
The proprietor is an absolute delight — not only did she recommend excellent restaurants in Porto and the surrounding area, but she also graciously shared some of her expertise with us.
We adored everything — the cakes (especially the flan, the loaves, and the tarts), our lovely conversations, the charming decor… We shall most certainly return!

Varied options but not the best taste - Edit
I got two tarts (lemon and pear) from this lovely bakery but the taste wasn’t the best. It barely taste of the fruit it was made from and the dough was very sandy.

Best vegan pastry in Portugal! - Edit
The best vegan pastry ever! You simply can’t go wrong with anything here—but if you really have to choose, go for the flan 😉. Every time we’re in Porto, Marthe’s Pastry is our first stop! And just as important, the owner is an incredible person with a huge heart and exceptional talent.

Rude staff ruined it - Edit
I walked half an hour in the rain to come. I was so excited to be there. The woman seemed annoyed to have to serve me. I asked for a recommendation and she did not want to give me one. I left and went elsewhere. Wow. Really sad this happened.

The pastry shop was full of people — all satisfied.
Read moreWe asked if you preferred a cake with or without sugar, with or without gluten, etc.
You said “without sugar,” and we showed you the sugar-free options.
You looked around and left without even saying goodbye — then posted a negative review without tasting anything.
Sometimes, we wish we could do the same with certain customers.
On Google, you say you work in the same field — so why do that? What do you gain from it?
We don’t go around leaving negative reviews without tasting, or complaining about prices, while ignoring respect for our fellow professionals.
You’re in the business? Ah.
Still, we wish you a good day.

really good pastries, terrible service - Edit
I went to this place twice, the pastries and drinks are always really good although a bit overpriced, but the owner was always so rude and unhelpful, really disappointing.

Pretty cafe and nice selection - Edit
Home made vegan cakes that are patisserie standard.
Read moreNothing purely chocolate which is what I'd normally go for so it didn't quite hit the spot, but after the trek to get there, I was going to eat something!
Pros: Cute cafe, Good choice
Cons: No purely chocolate option!, A bit far out of town (if walking)

100%Vegan! Chocolate Brioche was really tasty. (Just a note bakery items seem to be made with almond flour.)

Hello! 🌞
Read moreThank you for your comment.
None of our travel cakes — like brioche, or viennoiseries, for example — contain almonds, unless specifically mentioned.
Only entremets, tarts, cupcakes, and financiers may include them. :)
We prefer using healthy fats like almonds rather than adding poor-quality vegetable fats.
And it’s not almond flour, but ground almonds. :)
But don’t worry — we always mention it.💛

the flan was very good, but a touch too sweet. some of the cakes were very good, if a bit too expensive, and some were just falling apart, even though it was not too hot...

Hello,
Read moreThank you for your comment! 💛
We love to remind our customers that everything we make is homemade — from the plant milk to the cream, including the sponge cake…
Our “EXOTIC” entremet, which is both sugar-free and gluten-free, takes three days to prepare and includes a carefully whipped cream.
It doesn’t collapse (the transparent film was simply removed for the photo and did not fall), but it does remain delicate — especially for takeaway, as in your case.
We use no stabilizers or industrial additives.😄
Wishing you a lovely Sunday and a beautiful holiday! 🌞🌞

Great little French bakery - Edit
I went straight to this bakery as soon as I arrived in Porto, as it was breakfast time and I fancied a croissant. They didn’t have any on that Friday, although the lady said they would have some the following day.

Delicious - Edit
We loved the Tarte Parisienne and the heart-shaped pastry, which had a thin chocolate layer on the outside, a white cream inside, and a lovely crumbly core, all on a sweet crust. The proprietor made everything with love and freshly, it's got a personal touch. She even gave us recommendations for her favourite vegan restaurants in Porto. She makes the plant milks herself freshly.

Generous & passionate French bakery owner - Edit
We were in Porto for a few days, and because the bakery was a bit far from where we stayed, we decided to eat in (to catch up our breath, it's quite hilly over there) and take away some cakes too. The tarts were really nice, not too sweet and very light. We had the cakes the next day and they were very soft and subtly flavoured. She gave us a huge portion of cake which could have easily been 2 portions.
Read moreThe owner is French and it's always nice to have a conversation with fellow citizens so we had a chat about vegan eats in Porto. She has plenty of recommendations if you want to experience the local culture as a vegan. If you're a tourist, pay her a visit at the beginning of your stay :)
Pros: Everything is made with care, Many gluten-free options, Authentic vibes

Amazing vegan cakes - Edit
Unfortunately we didn't discover this place until a couple of days before our returned home. The lady who runs this cafe is passionate about being vegan. Her cakes are so amazing. I'm so glad we took the trouble to walk in the pouring rain to find this place. I had to go back the next day (again in the rain) to have another cake before going home.
Read moreWe've been vegan a few years, but I struggle with making cakes. I was asking her what was in some of the cakes and was surprised by some of the ingredients. She said she was thinking of starting to do some classes.
She did have quiche but it was mainly cakes, but its definitely worth a visit when in Porto

Cute cafe - Edit
A cute cafe a little bit out of the bustling centre of Porto. Worth the walk because everything is vegan and reasonably priced. We had a Parisian flan which was very good, I haven't had anything similar since going vegan back in 2018! Coffee was very nice as well.
