Amazing!!

Everything I’ve tried at the Murray Hillbilly has been amazing. My favorite is a BS Burger with chikun fries or the Mac and cheese pizza, paired with some Moon Booch and a cookie, you can’t beat it 🙌 I go at least once a week and love to take both vegan and non vegan friends and they always love it!

Possibly Bad First Experience

The staff was so friendly and helpful! I completely love the idea of vegan comfort food and it was difficult to choose with all the delicious looking options! There are so many great reviews, but our orders weren’t great. The Sloppy Joe I got was just ok. I thought it was too bland, until I tried the crabcake, which literally tasted like the lid fell off the salt when they were making it. The Sloppy Joe came with Mac n cheez and hush puppies. When I tried the Mac n cheez alone, it tasted like out of a box, but it did help take some of the edge off that salty crabcake. With so many wonderful reviews, I’m sure it must’ve just been a fluke. All I know for sure is the hush puppies were everything!!!

Pros: Everything is vegan, Everything is gluten free, They use local and organic

Hello Zayne! I'm sorry to see you didn't have the greatest experience with us. We haven't had the What In Tarnation (sloppy joe) on our menu for several weeks now so your visit must have been awhile ago. It's taken us some time to find our feet as a restaurant and I do hope you'll give us a second change. The feedback we've been receiving has been very encouraging as of late and I feel you'll be pleasantly surprised with how our menu has expanded.

Pleasantly surprised!!

From Chicago, so I wasn't sure what to expect while visiting my Mom in JAX. Quinoa sloppy joe, Collard Kale, Hushpuppies & Vanilla Khombucha on Tab = deliciousness..

Pros: Friendly staff.. able to sample Khombucha flavors

Cons: I found out about it last day visiting., Not enough time in JAX to try it ALL

Comfort food

Love this place! So many creative meals on the menu - I wanted to try them all! We had the Ya Reckon and the Over Yonder, both of which were delicious. The staff was very friendly and service was really quick.

YES ALL VEGAN AND GLUTEN FREE! Hallelujah! The burger ON POINT!

ALL VEGAN AND GLUTEN FREE! Beautiful people and awesome positive vibe! One outdoor seating table. The burger was ON POINT!! Mac and cheese minus the BBQ tempeh was a bit cold and needed a tad more seasoning/salt. Sitting inside the kitchen fumes are a little strong (I have a lung disorder) so we sat outside! The table and chairs outside is bolted to the ground so not super wheelchair friendly, but if you don’t roll like me—shouldn’t be an issue. Okay cupcake and cookies and ordering another burger 😳👌🏽💚

Pros: ALL VEGAN , And GLUTEN FREE, Great people and vibe!

Cons: Small menu, Mac and cheese cold and needed some salt :)

Great food, too pricey for portions

Glad to see 100% vegan place, but it is mispriced. Qualityis definitely there, but would not go back as it is too pricey for portion sizes. Add potatoes to fill up customers or increase portion sizes. Vegans tend to eat a lot because the food is light.

Pros: Excellent, fresh cuisine, Nice atmosphere, People are awesome

Cons: One small sandwich is 10.00, with no sides incl., Make portions bigger with side of potatoes, Was hungry when I got home : ( and spent over $50

Hello Bryan! I do hope you'll give us another chance. We've recently revamped our menu to include sides with the purchase of each sandwich and have lowered the prices overall. It's taken us some time to find our feet as a restaurant and we feel confident that we've made a number of positive steps since we opened late last year.

Amazing vegan comfort food

Simply fantastic vegan and gluten free comfort food. They just opened the restaurant in December 2018 after being a food truck. In doing so they've expanded their menu too! We went to the soft opening and tried the bbq jackfruit, hush puppies, Mac and cheese, and crab cakes. All were delicious and even more impressive that it was all gluten free. The rolls that the sandwiches came on were the softest gluten free rolls I've ever had!

They also have local kombucha on tap, arcade games, and a super cool interior, perfect for hanging out. Great prices too!

Pros: So yummy, Good prices, Cozy atmosphere

Excellent vegan fare

All too often vegan comfort food type places use highly processed tofu and gluten based foods that are actually not so healthy or digestible. But Murray Hillbilly offers great house-made burgers and such that are tofu and gluten free, and they are delicious, light and healthy. Their use of spices and herbs makes the food really tasty - we had BS Burgers and Cauliflower nuggets that were delicious. And I had a local Kombucha that was one of the smoothest and best kombuchas I've ever had. I'm very glad these guys are here, and definitely intend to be a regular!

Good eating

Delighted to have finally dined on delicious food served by vegan food truck in the city where I grew up! Named for Murray Hill, the section of town where it all began, Murray Hillbilly preps innovative vegan southern comfort food. Took a non-vegan with me for lunch, and she agreed; the cauliflower nuggets were worth the drive - well seasoned, lightly breaded, deep fried, without being greasy with a mild aioli sauce for dipping. I chose the Dadgummit, krab cake with aioli, as a salad; tasty seasoned breaded crab cake patty over greens. Very good, though I would have liked a bit more heat/spice; still I would order it again. The hush puppies were awesome; shared with my non-vegan friend who said she was going to track where the truck is located so she can go back for the hush puppies and cauli nuggets. The Bubba, BarBQ chickn strip, we got as a sandwich; nicely moist roll with slaw, all well seasoned, with creamy Mac and cheese on the side. Gives me something deliciously vegan to look forward to when visiting the hometown. Truck does pop-ups around town, usually in downtown area on Mondays, and Riverside Farmers Market on Saturdays. Only thing missing was a Happy Cow approved sticker, which I just happened to have in my bag.

Pros: 100% vegan comfort food, affordably priced, good value, Knowledgeable, friendly vegan personnel

Cons: Limited hours - food truck

Tasty and Adventurous!

Love their food! It's exciting to visit a company who isn't afraid to be bold with their food by offering some exotic vegan fare, like their usage of Lions Mane mushrooms in the Dadgummit. Their fried cauliflower sandwich (Ya Reckon?) is super tasty! It doesn't taste like any other cauliflower I've ever had.

They also offer some more standard options, like The Bubba that comes with coleslaw, lettuce, and tomato. You can also add Mac and Cheese to your sandwich, or have it as a side, which I highly recommend!

You really can't go wrong with anything they offer. 10/10 would visit again anytime I'm in Jacksonville :)

Pros: Super tasty, Leaves you feeling good, Friendly staff

Go find this food truck. Get the crab cakes. Be a happy vegan.

These crab cakes are off the hook! I might have even done a little happy vegan jig. A thick crab cake patty served on a bun with a creamy sauce, lettuce and tomato.❤. I didn't get to try anything else however other folks were raving about the 'chickn' sandwich. Lots of non-vegans too loving on it.

If you catch them outside of main & sixth, do yourself a favor and enjoy a beer with your food. Awesome micro brews, great bartenders and real welcoming vibe. Everyone was ordering from the food truck and having it inside with their beers. Fantastic!

Pros: All vegan. , Non vegans were thoroughly loving it too!, Friendly owners.

Cons: On the pricey side. $10 for crab cake sandwich, wh
