I am so happy I stocked up on fare from Mud Pie bakery while I was in the area. Although located in a strip mall, you'd never know it based on the interior which is relaxing and inviting. The staff were very nice and the lady at the counter was pleasant to chitchat with while I was deliberating-- she also offered to warm up my food which made it taste all the better.
Read moreI ordered the veggie frittata, the ham, cheddar and bacon scone, and the white chocolate pistachio brookie. I loved them all and would absolutely order each item again. I'm a good baker but simply could not recreate the texture of the brookie at home, it's noticeably professional. They are all pretty unique concepts that I haven't found at a lot of other places.
I would say that the prices were competitive with many non-vegan bakeries, which is a huge plus and why I was able to try three things. This doesn't hold true for the drinks however, most of which are $10 (slightly more than the $7-8 typical of nicer cafes but altogether too much for me). The flavor concepts looked nice though, so for all I know the taste and quality may be worth the price.
Definitely go here if you're in Kansas City, because I wish I could visit again! I've already recommended it to quite a few friends.

Didn’t know what to expect walking in… but wow! The shop is adorable, the options are abundant! SO MANY baked goods of various sorts, as well as some savory options such as breakfast sandwiches and wraps. All ready made, they will warm up for you as needed.

Update: I now stop here almost every time I’m in the area (once every few months). I now get a box of desserts because my non-vegan boyfriend also loves them! I loveeee finding stuff we can share in. Try the cheesecake and their new biscuit breakfast sandwich!
Read moreI got something called a Kolache or something but it was basically the guy the bagel and cream cheese told you not to worry about. It was fantastic. I also order a donut and a hot chocolate. I was able to try this place driving back from Kansas and I’m so glad I made the extra stop. I plan on stopping back again on my way back down!

Vegan bakery even my non-vegan husband likes! - Edit
What’s not to love about a 100% vegan bakery that includes a selection of gluten-free options as well? I still love the mocha chip muffin best but the Saturday-only raised donuts are rocketing up the charts. I’ve also had their kolaches and several of their coffee cake options. Coffee are also delicious.

Incredible Vegan Bakery in KC Area - Edit
I love Mud Pie!! I worked here for a stint in high school and no longer live in KC, but I have to visit every time I’m back int he area. My favorites: pesto stuffed pretzels, cheddar sausage scones, and the bagels. You can’t go wrong with anything here honestly. Their chair is house made and one of my favorites I’ve ever had.

i grew up in nebraska and legitimately never imagined i’d find an all-vegan bakery in kansas, but here we are! the future is glorious and so are the treats at mud pie! i highly recommend the pop tarts
