Good food, but an uncomfortable experience - Edit
Unfortunately, our experience here was quite different from what we expected based on the reviews. We were travelling as vegans, and my friend simply introduced himself as a vegan and asked whether everything was vegan, as he was concerned that some items not listed on the menu, such as the sauces, might contain animal ingredients. Instead of helping us clarify what was vegan, the owner seemed very agitated and responded that this is a vegetarian shop. We were already quite hungry and it was late, so we decided to stay and have something to eat anyway. The food itself was actually good, and we had no complaints about the taste. However, the interaction with the owner made the experience uncomfortable. He came across as rather hostile and unhappy throughout our visit, and we did not feel particularly welcome. Perhaps he was simply having a bad day, and we do not want to judge the restaurant based on one interaction. But for us, the service and attitude unfortunately overshadowed what was otherwise good food.

The tastiest falafel I tried so far, made out of broad beans. Staff very welcoming and nice. You can select different kinds of salad, buffet style. You can pay by card & all sauces are vegan (according to the person that was working there)!

Wir waren heute erst spät angekommen, und kurz vor 22 Uhr erst bei Mr. Falafel. Trotz des späten Abends bekamen wir noch frische selbstgemachte Falafel in einer knusprigen Vollkorntasche, und durften uns die Teller mit jeder Menge frischer verschiedener Salate füllen.

While the restaurant itself is quite basic it’s clean & the key thing is the fresh food. The lovely owner is constantly frying up batches of fresh falafel and the recipe is clearly labelled above the kitchen. There is also a help yourself ‘as much as you can eat’ salad bar. For €8 you get 6 large falafels in a huge flat bread plus salad. The owner is very friendly & helpful & brought freshly made mint tea to all the customers too.

Maybe we caught them on an "off" day - but previous reviews surprised me. This is, without a doubt, the worst place I have ever eaten.

The bad: the salad looked like it had sat there for DAYS. Brown lettuce, dried carrot on the turn, and - spotted after I'd put some on my plate - a beetrooty salad that had tiny flies crawling on/in it. Extra protein, probably not vegan.
Quite frankly it was an embarrassment to veganism.
The vibe was... non-existant. Granted, it's hard to create an atmosphere in such a tiny space. I think there were some fairy lights.
We stayed for as long as was polite before paying (by card, €34 for 4 pittas and a drink) and leaving.
Kids never want falafel again.

The pitas were quite tasty! The ones we ate were made of fava beans, which I had never tasted before. They had the perfect flavour: neither strong nor bland.

In the city centre, a stone's throw from the Grand Place, behind Fontainas Square, hidden in Bogaardenstraat, you'll find this little no-nonsense eatery where you'll be served probably the best falafel in town in a whole-wheat pita roll. The vegetables are self-service. For 11 euros, you have a nice and tasty nutritious meal, drinks included!
