Delicious Japanese Egg Sandwich (Tamago sando)

I was really happy to find some vegan Tamago sando. It was so good that we came back the next day for breakfast ;)

Buono

Ho preso egg sandwich e melon bread al cioccolato take away, il dolce non mi ha fatto impazzire e l'egg sandwich era buono ma ho preferito quello che avevo mangiato al mercy vegan factory di osaka

Talented chef

I ate here twice, and both times, I was overwhelmed by how good everything tasted. The egg sandwich, in particular, was incredibly delicious - the filling didn't taste exactly like an egg; it was much better and more satisfying than anything that was ever made with an egg. If you don't think this food is delicious, you might want to think about detoxing your tastebuds somehow. I wish the servers were a little friendlier to those of us who love the Japanese language, have spent most of our lives studying it, and are in Japan to hear and to speak it, but the food tastes so good that it makes up for all that. I hope to eat here again the next time I'm in Kyoto.

Decent

Did not understand the hype.
Corn soup amazing. The fried tofu was bad. Chocolate cake was dry. And super expensive.
Nice to get salads though

Tasty food and friendly service

Mercy vegan factory is around 10-15 minutes walk from Kyoto station. The service was amazing, the lady who worked there speaks English and was really welcoming. They have an English menu with a wide selection of food, drinks and desserts as well. They can do take away as well including bento boxes (from 10:30) but pastries, sweets and sandwiches can be from opening.
I've had the sandwich selection and my partner had the kurumafu (fried wheat gluten) set. Both were delicious and a good portion.

Pros: Tasty food, Amazing service, Close to the station

Great options and food plus! Fully Vegan

Noticed this place was close to where I’m staying and it’s fully vegan. So I took the little extra walk to go to it. By did it not disappoint. It was super easy to find with plenty of of signage plus the signs lead you down the stairs. Its very well light so you can see going down and feels very welcoming.

Anyways, to the point.
Food wise, I started with the half egg sandwich. I’ve been always wanting to try an egg sandwich like you see from anime. It was perfect, not sure what they used but it even tasted like eggs from when I used to eat normal eggs. It has lettuce on the inside so it doesn’t make the bread soggy.

Next I got Kim pop, I wanted sure what to expect but seemed alright.

Last was the chocolate cake. Rich in chocolate with some fruit and vegan whip cream. OMGosh was that good. Loved it all.

I also got an apple juice.

Pros: So many options, Nice atmosphere , Way to find

Favourite restaurant

This was my partners favourite restaurant in Kyoto. We loved that the meal came with salad, which can be hard to find in Japanese restaurants! We enjoyed their sushi set meal and a nice dessert. Would have eaten there again if our hotel was closer!

Healthy Vegan Sushi

My partner (non-vegan) and I (vegan) both got the Grilled Chirashi Sushi course. We both enjoyed making up the sushi rolls which came deconstructed. For healthy food this is a great spot.

Pros: Constructing own sushi roll, Course menu, Range of vegan food

Very nice place close to Tokyo Station

If you get down on Tokyo Station and need a good place, this ine is about 10-15 minutes away. They serve at tables but also make bentos.

If you want to try Melon Pan but can't find a vegan one, this is the place to go.

Pros: Close to Tokyo Station, Take away Bento, Melon pan

Please offer more items that are not deep fried.

unglaublich gut

Tasted good but small portions and expensive

I was excited to find a vegan restaurant within easy walking distance of the train station. And I read a lot of favorable reviews so I had high expectations and was rather disappointed. The staff were friendly and the environment is nice, small but clean. The favor of the food was good, I loved the sweet and sour cauliflower. However, the portion size was quite small— it’s also rather expensive! I was starving, and ordered four main courses and left hungry. I don’t know if that’s because I came during lunch but I was disappointed with how little food I got for the extraordinary price I paid.

Pros: Sweet and sour cauliflower , Easy walking distance from station , Had free WiFi

Cons: Small portions, Expensive

My new happy place

Just a short walk from Kyoto Station, Mercy Vegan Restaurant is an absolute gem for plant-based dining. From the very first greeting, the staff radiate warmth and hospitality that make you feel instantly welcome.

The menu is thoughtfully crafted, offering beautifully presented dishes that are both nourishing and satisfying. Every bite balances fresh ingredients with creative flavors, and the experience is elevated by the calm, inviting atmosphere of the space.

The highlight of the meal is the dessert—vegan but indulgent, leaving you with a sweet and memorable finish. Mercy is not just a restaurant; it’s a sanctuary for travelers and locals alike who are looking for wholesome, plant-based comfort near the heart of Kyoto.

A rare and wonderful find. Highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious vegan cuisine and genuine hospitality in Kyoto.

Pros: Eggsandwich, Essens-Auswahl, Personal

Mandatory Visit for all Kyoto Trips

Buddha achieved enlightenment from sitting under a tree and freeing their mind of thought. I found it in this restaurant.

The menu is clean and clear with good options, the sitting area is quiet and cool, and the service is prompt.

But the food blew everything away. The deep-fried Cauliflower and kuruma-fu (deep Fried wheat gluten) was delicious, the potsto salad thick and creamy, the salad fresh and with copious amounts of dressing, and the kimbap sushi (made with pyrrole rice) was nothing short of divine.

If you can only have one meal in Japan, this is it. Do not delay!

Excellent sandwich

I found the menu items a bit limiting and bland, but the famous “egg” sandwich did not disappoint
