Very nice place close to Tokyo Station - Edit
If you get down on Tokyo Station and need a good place, this ine is about 10-15 minutes away. They serve at tables but also make bentos.

Tasted good but small portions and expensive - Edit
I was excited to find a vegan restaurant within easy walking distance of the train station. And I read a lot of favorable reviews so I had high expectations and was rather disappointed. The staff were friendly and the environment is nice, small but clean. The favor of the food was good, I loved the sweet and sour cauliflower. However, the portion size was quite small— it’s also rather expensive! I was starving, and ordered four main courses and left hungry. I don’t know if that’s because I came during lunch but I was disappointed with how little food I got for the extraordinary price I paid.

My new happy place - Edit
Just a short walk from Kyoto Station, Mercy Vegan Restaurant is an absolute gem for plant-based dining. From the very first greeting, the staff radiate warmth and hospitality that make you feel instantly welcome.
Read moreThe menu is thoughtfully crafted, offering beautifully presented dishes that are both nourishing and satisfying. Every bite balances fresh ingredients with creative flavors, and the experience is elevated by the calm, inviting atmosphere of the space.
The highlight of the meal is the dessert—vegan but indulgent, leaving you with a sweet and memorable finish. Mercy is not just a restaurant; it’s a sanctuary for travelers and locals alike who are looking for wholesome, plant-based comfort near the heart of Kyoto.
A rare and wonderful find. Highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious vegan cuisine and genuine hospitality in Kyoto.

Mandatory Visit for all Kyoto Trips - Edit
Buddha achieved enlightenment from sitting under a tree and freeing their mind of thought. I found it in this restaurant.
Read moreThe menu is clean and clear with good options, the sitting area is quiet and cool, and the service is prompt.
But the food blew everything away. The deep-fried Cauliflower and kuruma-fu (deep Fried wheat gluten) was delicious, the potsto salad thick and creamy, the salad fresh and with copious amounts of dressing, and the kimbap sushi (made with pyrrole rice) was nothing short of divine.
If you can only have one meal in Japan, this is it. Do not delay!

Best vegan in Kyoto? Maybe... - Edit
After seeing the amazing reviews of Mercy, my partner and I had to eat here. We are holidaying from Australia and have been eating at every well known vegan restaurant. All I can say is wow, the food here definitely lived up to its high reputation! I tried the gimbap (korean 'sushi'), sweet and sour cauliflower and the kuramafu. While all dishes were incredible, the cauliflower was next level tasty. The gimbap was also the best rice dish/sushi I've eaten in Japan (so many different flavours and ingredients are generously packed into the gimbap).
Read moreA big shoutout to the young chef and also to the owner, who are the friendliest people I've met in Japan. This is the sort of business you want to continually go back to - not only for the food but also to support a wonderful small business.

Me he enamorado del sitio. - Edit

Small restaurant close to Kyoto station. We tried the fried cauliflower, black iced coffee, salt and butter roll, egg sandwich and soup of the day (pumpkin). Everything was delicious, but the portions are very small, especially for the price. Worth visiting for vegan egg sandwiches

Mercy's sweets are the best!
