Decent 🍛 - Edit
It’s pretty good, but I wasn’t blown away! The mole sauce was the best part. Appreciate the separate vegan menu and having two different dessert options.

Full vegan menu and every item is a hit - Edit
This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Sac. They have a full vegan menu to choose from to make a multi course dinner out of. The molés are absolutely incredible. You can’t go wrong with the traditional molé poblano but I highly encourage you to try the pepian molé.

Vegan menu showcases Mexican cuisine - Edit
If you’re looking for your usual burrito, chips and guac, you’ve come to the wrong place. Mayahuel does an excellent job of showcasing Mexico’s culinary traditions with vegan menu items such as huitaloche enchiladas, mole poblano, enchiladas zapotecas, sikil p’ak (a favorite Yucatán dip), and tacos dorados de papa. The huitaloche enchiladas are made with fresh corn and tender mushrooms wrapped in blue corn tortillas covered in huitaloche sauce. The tacos dorados are small crispy tacos filled with seasoned potatoes with shredded lettuce and salsa that has a great spicy kick to it. I look forward to trying the other dishes on the menu, especially the chocolate cake.

Best vegan mole - Edit
Great atmosphere and location! I thought the vegan mole was the best I've ever had. Chips guac was solid and they had a separate vegan menu.

Bummer - Edit
Went for the vegan chef challenge menu, which is a 5 course meal. The waiter was so slow that we had to leave without the last course after 1 hour and a half (we had plans after dinner to get to). And the entree wasn’t even that good, a potato pancake with a huge serving of relatively plain rice. Totally disappointed.

Underwhelmed - Edit
I was really excited to try this place. But I was honestly not super impressed. The food was flavorful but not anything special that I couldn’t make at home.

Really delicious. The pumpkin seed dip made a great appetizer. Seems like this place really knows how to prepare a good vegan dish, was impressed by the quality. Would happily eat here again.

I'll echo everyone else on the 5-course prix fixe! - Edit
After much anticipation, we went to Mayahuel last night for dinner and was not disappointed. We asked for the vegan menu and were rewarded immediately upon entering, and (to my surprise) our two non-vegan friends ordered the same as us - the 5-course prix fixe dinner. One of our friends went home with THREE doggie boxes; there was that much food. And it was all delicious. The five courses break down like this: your first course is a smoothie-like, virgin margarita that can be converted into an adult beverage for $3 more. "Starters" was course #2: either a green Yucatan dip or a chipotle almond dip with lots of chips, both of which were terrific. You have your choice of potato tacos or lentil soup for course #3 (we all went with the tacos, which were amazing). Then you chose from five entrees for the fourth course - hongadas tostadas, huitlacoche enchiladas, pistachio mole, enchiladas zapotecas, or the mole poblano. The four of us had all but the tostadas, and we all want to return another 4 times to try all of the other entrees. Course #5 was chocolate cake, another tasty treat. The prix fixe menu, be you vegan or not, is the only way to go!!!

5 course vegan menu for 30$!! - Edit
Went with the 5 course vegan menu and it was defiantly worth it as what I ordered would have been 46$! Got to try something from each section on the vegan menu the “tacos dorados de papa” was only ok but my main course “pistachio spicy mole” sauce was amazing even all the non vegans at my table thought it was the best meal of the night and would order that the next time over the non vegan dishes they had and it actually was mild in spice which we were happy about!

Ask for the Vegan Menu - Edit
Stopped in for lunch during jury duty and service was quick. You have to ask for the Vegan Menu but it’s chock full of options. I asked for the Mole Poblano which comes served on plantains & portobellos. It was tasty and not overly rich. I will be back to sample more.

Enjoyed Best Meal of my Life - Edit
Restaurant has a vegan menu (just ask to see it). Menu includes starters, appetizers, entrees and desserts. Highly recommend the "pistacio spicy mole sauce" which is a portabello mushroom smothered in a pistachio mole and fresh serrano pepper spice. Other items include: vegan mole poblano & enchilada varieties. Can be loud, but candle lit tables and mariachis can create a nice date night.
