Went to this place for a quick breakfast. I was hoping to get some toast and a matcha latte. I was told they only had nice cream bowls even though they had more stuff on the menu . I'm not a huge fan of cold breakfast to be honest but it was alright.

Quality but they raised their prices January 2024 - Edit
I love Matcha mama and have been coming here for years. They have the best coconut water in town and really qualify smoothies. It’s always been expensive but since it’s quality I continued being a loyal customer.

Nutty monkey smoothie was 160 pesos, now with the same protein it is 210. Coconut water went from 100 to 120 pesos. On top of the raised prices, they didn’t even fully fill my smoothie cup when I recently ordered
The staff is very hit and miss at this location. I have been overcharged on multiple occasions and when I questioned it the staff was rude. Manager who spoke English was kind.

Good fresh coconut water in reusable glass jars - Edit
Matcha Mama (who cohabitates with Pizza Papi and Coco Mama) offers plentiful fresh juices, smoothies, açaí/smoothie bowls, and coconut water. You can also order from the Pizza Papi menu.

The bowls are more dessert-like than fresh-fruit-like, but they’re refreshing if that’s what you’re looking for. Unfortunately they’re served in “disposable” containers, so bring your own bowl if you can, to reduce the impact on Tulum’s severe waste management crisis.
Service is cheerful and helpful. Menus are in Spanish and English.

Nice spot and very instagramable. I went twice in different days and they had no coffee and no excuse given, also both times I went same person who was serving was preparing the food thus a lot of waiting times, not her fault, also she was nice! Something was off for me about this place. It’s expensive but my body was asking for some healthy stuff after all the tacos.

I really like the many different matcha drinks. It’s kinda expensive and you get everything in take away packaging. Also you have to go to the front to tell them you order. Which is all fine but because there is less service I would expect lover prices. Nevertheless the food and drinks are good!

I’ve been to every matcha mama in Tulum, this one is the biggest of them. Till 6pm this is a matcha mama and after that it “turns” into Pizza Papi (vegan Italian pizza - delicious). Just visited this matcha mama to get matcha powder.

Read moreIf you're eating in they still however come in takeaway pots which we didn't like too much, cos yano, waste. Also slightly more pricey compared to other places doing smoothie bowls but definitely with a visit.

I enjoyed the Acai Berry smoothie bowl at Matcha Mama when visiting Tulum in March 2020. The restaurant is small and cute, with seating on swings outdoors in front of the restaurant and some seating at the back of the restaurant outdoors. The smoothie bowl was refreshing and tasty on a hot day. The menu also had a variety of fresh juices, elixirs, vegan ice cream, and smoothies.
