Serves meat, vegan options available. Egyptian food with a vegan section on the menu listing various dishes such as falafel, koshari, etc. Open Mon-Thu 5:00pm-11:30pm, Fri-Sat 5:00pm-1:30am, Sun 5:00pm-11:00pm.
Closed Mon-Thu.
We decided to try this place as we were looking an Egyptian restaurant with a decent variety of vegan options. Leyalina did not disappoint. They have a dedicated vegan banquet option, which we chose to keep things simple. Four courses: flat bread & dukkah; toasted flat bread, dips (hummus and babaganoush) & fatoush salad; an assorted platter; and dessert.
All the food was delicious. Excellent dips, very nice fatoush, zalabia (similar to loukamades) for dessert, and an insanely big platter with koshary surrounded by falafel, battered cauliflower, eggplant and pickles. Everything is made fresh on site. Ambience is very friendly, and the owner regularly pops out to have a chat with customers. Strong family-run vibe.
Our only complaint – if you can call it that – is how much food came out. The vegan banquet is $48 per head, but it still would have been great value for only half the amount. We got ourselves to the edge of fullness and still had three (!) full takeaway containers of leftovers.
Next time we'll order from the regular menu, but it was great to get a sampler of so many dishes – and even better to know they'll last us through to the following day!
beautiful food and has a whole vegan section that includes koshari, foul medammas, falafel, lentil soup, moussaka, and arnabeet! staff is lovely and helpful as well [censored]
