Attention, this is a cult! - Edit
Lebe Gesund belongs to the Christian sect Universelles Leben. If it were possible, we would give it 0 stars.

Good shop - Edit
If this was not part of a sect it would get 5 stars - amazing cakes and „Pizzaschnecke“ also they offer good food to buy (e.g. pumpkin ravioli are great)

Amazing bread and baked goods from biocyclic vegan farming - Edit
Yes, it's a sect. Is it worse than other religious communities? I've looked into the evidence, and it seems to me that there has been some media push in the 90s and early naughties to discredit them. As far as I can see their beliefs are a bit wacky (aliens, energy, Jesus as a vegan etc.) but not really weirder or more problematic than other religions. Many big organic brands are associated with esoteric groups with similarly problematic views and structures, including DM, Alnatura, Demeter... My approach is to criticise those views and their policies but support the good things that they also offer.
Read moreThis shop has amazing bread and baked goods, and very decent spreads. It's all biocyclic vegan farming according to the shop. That means they don't abuse any animals in the process of farming, whereas 'standard' farming always uses animals excretion and usually body parts for fertilizer/ manure. Therefore, even organic farming still abuses animals. Only biocyclic vegan farming does not.
Seeing how there is very little such farming in Germany, I'm happy to buy these products here. And yes, staff are very friendly

Wir gehen regelmäßig dort einkaufen. Die Frauen dort sind mega freundlich und zuvorkommend.

yummy high quality vegan staples - Edit
I have to edit my old review from some years ago.
Read moreThe food itself is handmade, good quality and very good in taste - at least the things I tried.
But consumers have to keep in mind, that brand and shop belong to a sect called 'universelles Leben'. My experiences has been (years ago I have to admit) an almost to friendly staff in the shop, trying their best to sell their products.

Pros: handmade and high quality organic foods, friendly staff, but almost a little over the top
Cons: at least questionable concept, expensive

Tasty - Edit
We bought the "Zwiebelkuchen", sausages and an apple. Besides, we tried so many things, like a lot of bread and spread, dried apples... Everything was amazing except for the vegan sausage.

morally difficult - Edit
so far all other reviewers are right : many vegan options, tasty and expensive. this shop under the brand name „lebe gesund“ is part of the autocratic christian sect „universelles leben“. this sect is considered exploiting its members and notorious for ridding them of all their „worldly“ belongings and have them cultivate the goods, that are sold in their shops, for free. as soon as i became aware of this, i immediately stopped buying stuff there. let yourself be the judge of your moral standards.

Very tasty but very expensive - Edit
I think the food is really amazing as in taste wise, it is however very expensive! They have a true all organic and strict organic policy because it’s owned by a christian sect

Good, but beware the ideology - Edit
Admittedly; I only had a Berliner/Krapfen in this place, which was really good. Some things here are pretty expensive - the fruit, for example. Great that it is all vegan, and they have things like vegan pizza slices that are great to have in this location. There is a certain issue with this chain of grocery stores being run by a religious sect of dubious practices, but this is of course for everyone to decide. If there are no vegan Krapfen to be had elsewhere, then it is excellent to be able to get them here.

Good and expensive - Edit
The whole store sells only vegan products, they do this for religious (christian) reasons. They have fresh bread, once or twice a week also glutenfree bread, and a bunch of spreads and canned products. The also sell fresh veggies and german bakery goods and give out free samples, all of which I tasted are delicious. The staff is very friendly, too. Unfortunately prices are very high, especially for the baked goods. Last christmas, I bought german Lebkuchen there and a pack of six big ones cost me 12€. If you want to treat yourself or dont care about the money, this is the place to go!

Small store, great quality! - Edit
The shop is small and has a lot of sauces (including several pesto options), and they also have a lot of baked goods. The chocolate chip cookies are pretty good (and huge!) and the veggie pizza was great, even though it was served cold. Customer service was awesome, and they give samples of basically everything.

Vegan versions of Swabian favorites - Edit
After wandering into what I assumed was just another good German bakery, I was amazed to find that everything, from the variety of freshly baked breads to the dizzying array of spreads to slather on them, was vegan. One local specialty worth mentioning is bärlauch, or wild garlic, the leaves of which are used to make a tasty pesto that traditionally (and quite unnecessarily) contains cheese. Here it is featured in both red and green versions and also flavors a creamy dip. To give some idea of the product range, it fills a catalog (mentioned by another reviewer) more than 100 pages long. To satisfy the national sweet tooth, Linzer torte, fruit bread, Lebkuchen (a type of gingerbread), and an assortment of cookies are made with spelt flour, as was the scrumptious piece of pear-and-chocolate cake I purchased. Because giving an exhaustive list (fresh produce, dried fruits, jams, ravioli and other pastas, salad dressings, syrups, soups, cosmetics, and teas) would consume more space than I am allotted, I recommend visiting their website — or, ideally, one of their shops.

A treat for the eyes - Edit
If, like me, you have ended up wearing glasses 24/7 due to reading tiny ingredient lists, a completely vegan shop like this is a real treat.
Read moreThe prices, however, are not! This is a high quality, but expensive establishment.
It's Christian run and contains a Christian book shop.
There's also a kiosk run by the same company in the Hauptbahnhof.
Pros: fully vegan, location

Not just for Vegans anymore :) - Edit
Actually stumbled across this shop by accident; however, the stop was well worth it. The aroma alone was amazing, but the actual samples offered by the extremely helpful staff were tasty! The fresh spreads for either gluten free or regular breads were nothing short of remarkable.
Read moreAfter sampling the variety, which they staff was more than willing to keep offering, it was the Apple Chips that ended up being the treasured diamond in the rough! The crackers, cookies, spreads, and meats are well worth a try, but if you're going for a nice drive through the scenic areas ...say 2261 miles worth of driving...grab some apple chips for the road!
Thank you staff...I came back to the states with so many items that keep Germany on the forefront of my brain....but I'm even more thankful they have US shipping and a nice catalog with most of my favorites!!!
Pros: Variety of Selections, No Chemicals, Friendly Staff
Cons: Not enough space in my suitcase

Nice veggie shop - Edit
I must have walked past this place so many times but I finally decided to stop in. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and they were giving out lots of free samples - bread, spreads, ravioli with sauerkraut, cookies, tea, and apple chips. I didn't buy anything yet, but I'll be back. I'll come here for German foods without the meat and eggs (it looks like they had Berliner made without egg).

Lebe gesund, Stuttgart - Edit
This place is in central Stuttgart barely a one minute walk from Vegi Voodoo King.
Read moreThe place is 100% vegan veggie. When I went there was lady ofering a tasting of some pasta in a basil / pesto type sauce - it was delicious I must say.
This is a deli type health food shop that is aimed at the top end of the market - this isn't the place for you if you are on a tight budget as some of those prices are a bit eye brow raising. If though you can be the type to splash out now and again or whatever on luxury items then this place could be for you.
Staff speak English as seems to be the case so much in Germany these days.
From speaking to staff they are clearly targeting a worldwide mail order business model.
Pros: 100% vegan veggie friendly, central, English spoken
Cons: Some products are expensive
