J’avais hâte de tester cet endroit qui est un incontournable, car c’est le premier restaurant vegan parisien !

A must-do when in Paris - Edit
I have been to Potager du Marais a few times and it is always excellent. Probably my favorite vegan dinner spot in Paris. Since my last trip here, they have moved to a newer, larger location. Great vegan versions of classic French dishes you never thought you’d be able to eat again as a vegan. Do make a reservation if you can as we had to wait over an hour for a table as a walk in the last time around. Last time I was in Paris, I loved it so much we went back again another night!

We went there for dinner. It was very delicious and the staff was very friendly. Even if the place was super full, the waiter kept the good mood. Highly recommended.

Great experience - Edit
Came here on a Thursday night after we’d popped in earlier in the day to make a reservation. As others have said it’s definitely worth reserving a table as it gets very busy!
Read moreThe restaurant was full while we were there but there was only one staff member working. Not sure if that’s normal for the restaurant but it seemed a lot for one person to handle. He was working so hard though so there were no delays for food or drinks.
We were really excited to try vegan versions of French food. We started with the French onion soup (some reviews say this is bland but I loved it!), artichoke cream spread and mushroom pate. All was really good.
I then had the seitan roast and my partner had the seitan bourguignon. You get an option to have some mains with potatoes, rice or quinoa and we both opted for potatoes which appeared to be dauphinois.
Finally we shared a crème brûlée and apple tart. It wasn’t the best food I’d ever had but it was still incredibly tasty and definitely worth a visit!

nice that you can get vegan traditional french food - Edit
it’s nice that there is a place like this offering veganised versions of traditional french food. the food was all pretty tasty, especially the starters and desserts, and i would go back to try some of the other things they have like the french onion soup. our reservation via email seemed to not go through so do call or get their when it opens if not since there was a queue waiting. service was very fast too. it was quite pricey though and the mains we ordered weren’t that special (crêpe was okay, seitan quite chewy)
Read morePros: good starters and deserts, fast service, traditional french food

Definitely worth a try - Edit
We were excited to try veganised French cuisine and went for the seitan stew and seitan roast which was both good. We tried the creme brûlée for dessert but unfortunately it wasn’t my favourite. It just tasted like vanilla and it was cold. I’d say the food is still worth a try. I do recommend you book a table beforehand though.

Vegan French food - Edit
Would highly recommend making a reservation beforehand as the tables were filled very quickly. We did try emailing them a day before but heard nothing back (and still haven't...) so 100% call or pop in during the day to book. We opted for the beef bourguignon with potato and chocolate mousse for dessert. The mains were very tasty and filling, the beef seitan very flavourful and seemed to be home made. The service was friendly, and I was impressed by the two waiters. They were running the place very efficiently - no unnecessary waits for food or drinks. Food was quite pricey, although the menu stated that the prices included service charge, although not sure how much of this inflates the price.

Authentic vegan French food - Edit
There were lots of French dishes that are normally not vegan but veganized well. We tried the French onion soup which was delicious, and we also had the peas blanquette which was an interesting mix of textures and tastes. A little overpriced but getting to try vegan French food was a great experience.

An expensive bland meal - Edit
My family and I landed in Paris and were excited to make this our first meal, a vegan twist on traditional French food. The place takes reservations and we’re So Sweet to accept us without. The people were kind and the place was clean and cozy. All was well and wonderful until the food. We noticed it was pricy ($$$) but we thought it would be worth it…we were wrong. The food was bland and not worth the price at all. Bland and boring…unfortunately. I do not like writing this for such kind people but I want you and them to know my honest reflection.

Sadly onion soup isn't good at all. If I didn't know I'm ordering onion soup, I wouldn't guess it. Too spicy as for me, I could taste everything else but onion.

Try the French onion soup! - Edit
We wanted to try some vegan French food on our trip, and this is (surprisingly?) one of the few spots in Paris that delivers. Everything was great!! It was kind of pricy but worth it to have that experience as a vegan in France imo. We had the French onion soup, a “meat” dish, and crème brûlée. I highly recommend the French onion soup! The waiter was sort of traditional semi-scary Frenchman (he told us quite sternly not to miss our reservation! lol) but was so kind once we were seated, so we had a great experience.
