On the expensive side - Edit
Nice food, served in a nice environment. But portions are rather small and on the expensive side. Was still hungry at the end...

You can order a dish straight from the menu, or you can create your own dish according to given options. The food is very good.

Great Find - Edit
Extremely cozy establishment with an interior design and concept of an old apothecary with their foods as medicine. Centrally located in a quiet street with outdoor seating or beautiful inside seating with an atrium as well.

Pros: Friendly service, Moderately priced for the city

Love their food! - Edit
I have eaten here three times now and I just love their food! The flavours are really good and the staff is nice and helpfull. I also ordered on Deliveroo once, and let me just say that the brownie is DELICIOUS! But every single dish I tried here was good. I'm moving out of Ghent now, but I am seriously going to miss this place, it was a great find. Even for my younger nephews and aunt, who are all not vegan. Yes, it surely was my favourite place here :)

nice atmosphere and interesting - Edit
The style of the place was interesting and all of the menu options sounded good. I had the Jeff bowl which came with potatoes and much room stew and some nice salad on top. Quite expensive though at €11 each

Nice service, cozy place, bad tasting food - Edit
I only went here for a quick dinner and choose one of the noodles with tofu. They gave me a bowl that seamed like a soup, tons of water very few ingredients. So little noodles I wonder if they put any, one just one little broccoli, several pieces of tofu, that was the only thing I enjoyed. The taste was terrible, the water tasted very badly. Left most of it. Almost 11 euro for a bad soup. Maybe I chose the wrong option. But not going back for a second try.. And they don't accept cash, kinda bad if your bank overcharge if you pay overseas.

Slightly bland - Edit
Our experience here was mixed, as the food sounded so enticing on the menu but ending up quite bland and underseasoned. The theme of the restaurant (like an apothecary) is nice though, and the seating in the back is very cozy

Happy I went! - Edit
The menu at this place was so interesting it took me a little while to pick something. In the end, I had their take on a spicy chili, which was quite decent. If I returned to Ghent, I'd go back here.

Why did I wait so long? - Edit
Friendly, well decorated, and of course good food. The dishes were inspired by different cultures, although I suspect adapted to the Belgian palate. I found the prices reasonable.

This place is beautiful and memorable: go and pick your bowl! - Edit
Le Botaniste has that kind of design and attention to details which are rare in veggie establishments: usually, being veggie is the main attraction for a restaurant and while decor is often pleasant, there is no need to compete with other establishments on small details. Le Botaniste, instead, has put craft and attention to many more aspects than any veggie restaurant I have ever been to, and it is worth even just purely for the visual feast it provides. There are three rooms, all with very different atmospheres. Sitting in the entrance apothecary space is what I would recommend to take this place in. The menu is compact and 'clean' (for those who like this word): there are no processed ingredients and the mains are all mostly bowl. I order the one with curry and it felt like my dish was built on various layers of flavour and textures. Simple, but very lovely and enjoyable. Prices feel fair for the ambiance and location too, so definitely pass by for lunch when you are in Gent: your belly and eys (and your Instagram feed if you are into that kind of thing) won't be disappointed!
Read morePros: Fantastic decor, Attention to details in every corner of the space, Honest, 'clean' food
Cons: A dream if it were cheaper, but prices are fair

Good food, poor comfort - Edit
The food was very nice and the staff friendly, but I do not understand why to get a good veggie meal you always have to sit on a stool or a bench. I prefer to be comfortable.

Not the best vegan ever - Edit
I ate there twice and really wanted to love it, but there's just something very unappealing to an open bathroom so close to the tables. You even have to cross the bathroom to get to the second part of the restaurant.
Read moreThe food is ok, but not wow. The mezze was good, but it was a shame that it was served with (really horrible) crackers. A slice of fresh bread or toast would be much tastier.
Pros: Good food, Big portions

Good food, super quick - Edit
This was a perfect way to end our day trip to Ghent. The interior was beautiful giving an upscale appearance while the friendly staff and extremely fast service let us know that we weren’t committed to a long restaurant experience if we didn’t want to be. Overall, good food with a few good beer/wine selections, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and unbelievably quick. I definitely recommend and will return.

Healthy, tasty food! - Edit
I ate here three times during my five-day stay in Ghent. Staff wear white lab coats, are pleasant and speak English. All food and drinks are organic and plant-based. There are several bowl meals, including customizable. Starters include Superseed Avocado, €5.95, which I really liked, with a crushed-seed-encrusted half-avocado on a bed of lettuce and shredded cabbage. I had a custom-made bowl meal, €9.95 – very good, hearty, healthy food, the type of thing I make at home when I have time – brown rice, soylognese sauce (mince, tomato), steamed veggies (spinach, cabbage), aioli and basil sauce. Next day I had quinoa (add €1), miso-mushroom sauce, steamed veg, turmeric onions and lemon harissa dressing. A very satisfying meal (I warmed up the leftovers for supper.) They like you to bus your own table.
Read morePros: The bowl meals are like home-style cooking., open all day (11:30 am - 9:00 pm, except Sundays), seedy avocado dish

Okish food - Edit
I've been here twice so far. Once shortly after the place opened in 2015, the other a couple of weeks ago.
Read moreOn both times, I left a bit underwhelmed.
The decor of the entrance room (the pharmacy like interior) is really beautiful.
The food was nice (nice springroll), the bowl was a bit bland (monotone).
The comfort (benches, stools), and the hygiene of the toilet leave to be desired (eg very dirty and wet towel).
Very busy and crowed atmosphere. Taking all these into account, ànd the fact that it is self service (and as such a bit on the expensive side for being self-service), not really impressed with Le Botaniste.
I also noticed some of the stools in the veranda seemed to be covered with leather, which is quite odd for a vegan restaurant.
In doubt to give this 2 or 3 stars, but since it is all vegan, 3 stars.
PS: Wines were said to be all vegan.
Pros: all vegan
Cons: comfort (benches, stools), close together , hygiene toilet, atmosphere (crowded, cramped)

Nice salad bar for Lunch - Edit
It's a nice place, nice staff and good food.

We had the Jeff, Pasta Il Mafioso & of course the Raw salad (with seaweed)

Pros: Nice place, Nice staff, Good food
Cons: None
