I just love it here (rakastan..)

It's so nice and cozy, you can sit outside or inside, they always have something really good (more sweets, than salty, traditional finnish pulla is a must here!) and we found coffee here tastier than anywhere else (filtered one)

Pros: pastry, coffee, atmosphere

Nice place. Finnish food in vegan versions

The place is very local, so expect Finnish culture as it is: quiet and reserved. They have nice options of traditional Finnish food. The staff are gentle and friendly.

Lovely place

It's a charming little house with an outside area. The food was delicious, I had a bread roll and a Karelian pie with no egg butter.
I loved it so much I immediately looked up a recipe to try to make them myself when I'm back home.
The staff was nice enough to give me a recommendation on the filling.

So good I went twice!

I really enjoyed the unique opportunity to try a Karelian pie. I recommend you have the one with the eggless butter topping. Amazing. Has a good outside seating location as well.

So good we went twice!

The food here was great. Our first time trying a Karelian pie. The eggless butter filling was to die for. The mushroom pie was also an excellent choice.

Pros: Lovely food, Friendly staff

Cons: The decor was old and felt like a library.

Wrong Opening Hours

The sign up front says Open from 11am to 5pm Tues-Sunday, it was closed at those hours on both Saturday and Sunday in April, does not make sense for businesses to close on weekends, in my personal opinion.

Adorable home cooking

I went for a Friday lunch. Tasty mash potatoes, creamy seitan stew, bread roll, green salad and pretty much perfect mushroom salad. All vegan, well worth it's price. Everything had feeling of home cooking and I appreciate it.

The space is small, so I shared table with some lovely prople. The setting is one of the historic buildings in Hakasalmi Park, the main building is part of Helsinki City Museum, the feeling is like stepping into countryside escapism right at the city center, and I loved it.

Pros: Vegan, Lunch, Historic surroundings

Cons: Small space

Please visit!

You have no idea how happy I was to find this fully vegan, the cutest little cafe right in the heart of Helsinki. The venue is absolutely stunning, staff are super friendly and lovely and the food, THE FOOD! Vegan takes on traditional Finnish foods, clearly made with love. Perfect for a light lunch or a (ridiculously good) coffee and a sweet. Might be worth booking a tale though, which you can do easily online. The cinnamon buns are the size of your face and taste outstanding. 12 out of 10!

Adorable

So cute and everything is vegan, so there was way more options than in normal cafés. Only minus is that it's quite small, so if you don't arrive early or just on a busy hour, you might not get a seat at all!

Traditional Pastries - but make them vegan

I already was in love with Karelian Pies before I headed to Kahvila Rakastan - afterwards? Even more! I decided on one with vegan sour cream and vegan caviar, and now, months after, I'm still thinking about it. So if it's available when you stop by and they currently have one available, be sure to get it!
Also, grab a cinnamon bun while you're there as they're delicious as well.

Good value lunch spot

A great place to try vegan versions of the karelian pies. We had one with 'caviar'. We also got one vegan buffet plate, which was a pea soup with accompaniments like potatoes, salad and bread... Good value! You can also pay a nominal amount and drink as much coffee as you like. It was very busy and cramped when we visited but we enjoyed our time here!

Cutest cafeteria

The best place to seat when it’s sunny! I like the pies and drinks, not so many options though. Might be pretty crowded in a line for ordering since the place is super small inside, however it is possible to seat outside what’s the best!

One of our favourite places in Helsinki

A cozy little cafe in a beautiful building, just a short walk away from the railway station. My personal favourites are all versions of Karelian pasties and the cabbage pie. Nice selection of sweet bakes, too, and good coffee. Last time we visited, they ran out of Karelian pasties and it was a bit chilly inside but we still enjoyed our visit.

Delicious food, great coffee and scenic area outside

Great place to sit both outside and inside. Food is like home cooked and the Finnish cabbage pie was nice and the filled rolls really soft and delicious. The custard blueberry bun was amazing! Such a great place, lucky Finns to have this!

Cozy and tasty

I was expecting a soup of the day, maybe with a bit of bread. Turned out to be a soup of the day with a whole buffet of sides😄
