Very good but (understandably) costly - Edit
Edit: There is some deals etc that makes prices more ok. Sandwich drink chips for 129 SEK in that location is in the normal to cheap range in central Stockholm
Read moreThis town so needs vegan places in the city center (or just not at Södermalm) so the fact that this place exists is excellent.
My first visit today was a great experience, personal was friendly, helpful and made me feel at home (and due to the recent world situation I so enjoy any social interaction extra much). The environment could be a bit more lit and things like that, but with the location it makes sense, its also a bit loud (due again to beeing inside Kulturhuseet)
For food I ordered the Walnut Pesto sourdough and a Cappucino. Cappucino was excellent and about standard prize. The Walnut Pesto did taste okey and was thankfully served with some sallad, however I was still hungry after a 87 SEK dish (though I am not a small person so that might have impacted things) but with such a central location and hopefully paying people fairly it makes sense that it would need to be that expensive.
In the end as work is back in the office and I am more in central town I am sure I will be back for lunch and some of the hot offers , or a "Fika" as there where some cakes that did look tasty.
Overall I am happy this exists and hope for more things like it, spread out a bit.

Great café right in center! - Edit
I love to have a 100% vegan place in such a central location. Great for a quick bite on the go! They also do delicious cakes and nice coffee, plus I like that they always keep a selection of chocolates/bars/drinks/ice creams etc from brands you can’t find in other places in Stockholm.

Not hygienic enough - Edit

Hi,
Read moreWe're sorry that you feel this way.
Actually, when people wear gloves it's less sanitary, because they don't wash their hands as frequently.
We use utensils of course too, but it's much more common, for let's say, a peanut to get stuck on a glove or a spatula, than it is on a bare hand - because you feel it, and wash your hands.
That's why the health authorities recommend frequent hand washing and no gloves as the best, most hygienic method.
Since the whole building is cashless, we also don't have to deal with the HUGE amount of bacteria that cash carries with it.
Knowing this, we hope you'll consider adjusting your rating.
Thanks!
mik
Hello,
Read moreI'm not saying I'd prefer gloves to bare hands, my point is that a utensil would be a far superior alternative, and I was shocked it wasn't used though it seems to be standard practice in the industry.
As for the alleged amount of bacteria that cash may carry, that's not what Professor of medical microbiology Agnes Wold says (https://www.di.se/artiklar/2013/10/26/debatt-pengar-ar-inte-smutsiga/), but of course it's convenient for interest groups to advance such claims.

Central & vegan - Edit
It's nice to have a fully vegan cafe in such a central location. Kafé Plattan makes a nice meeting place or after-sightseeing coffee stop. This time, I only had a coffee, but the food and, particularly, the cakes and cookies looked very tasty, so I'll definitely come back to try them.

A long-awaited addition to the city centre! - Edit
FINALLY a fully vegan eatery in the city centre! Good opening hours which means you can stop by for a late breakfast, lunch, fika or early dinner. Lots of take away options such as wraps which is ideal for travellers/commuters. Rotating lunch menu and a varied selection of fika items. I opted for the Hoisin Duck Wrap as it was lunch time and I was curious to try the Heura strips. It's similar to Oumph although chewier (feels weird to write meatier!). I liked the hoisin marinade and the wrap had a nice crunch to it when served warm. Keen to revisit soon to try the lunch specials and cakes.
Read moreService is friendly and familiar, with a laid-back vibe. You can tell that both the chef and staff are passionate about vegan food and making customers feel at home. During my visit, art work was being hung on the wall which made for an interesting touch. The café is located on the ground floor of the culture house which is open and kind of spread out. They've managed to make their nook feel cosy and it's a pleasant place to get a break from the hustle and bustle.
I must also take the opportunity to recommend Bibliotek Film och Musik, located further up in the same building, which is an amazing library where you can borrow not only books, but LP:s, sheet music and classic movies. There is also a nice little gift and book shop next to the entrance where the café is located.
Keep up the awesome work, Kafé Plattan!
Pros: Varied selection, friendly and enthusiastic staff, lots of tables
