The Verdict Is In

Whenever the opportunity arises to pass judgment over a tantalising array of sweet creations, I am there. With an absolutely stacked menu, I was a touch dubious as to whether or not this place would actually be so virtuous, or whether it would guilty of the heinous crime of over promising and under delivering. Trial by taste was the only way forward.
Not that I want really lead with a negative, as ultimately it seems slightly unfair, but it is considerably easier to list the treats that disappointed, namely as there was only one: the chocolate hazelnut stuffed cookies. Dry and texturally unappealing, they were in no way indicative of my overall experience and a startling apparition in comparison to everything else.
Truthfully, I would be very hard pressed to identify just one preeminent dish. The duo of balls were perhaps at the lower end of the excellence scale, but from there it was all-out wonderfulness. Sticky, tangy date maamoul; biscuity, luscious twix bars; creamy, unctuous banana pudding; rich, decadent Nutella-style cheesecake; moist, flavoursome salted peanut butter lazy cake - what’s not to love?
And yet, despite this plethora of royally brilliant desserts, one stood-out as the king: the pistachio kunafa chocolate bar. Not having been fortunate enough to sample Dubai chocolate to this point, the furore that had surrounded it seemed slightly mystifying. Although, based on my experience here, it is now crystal clear to see why so many people have lost their collective minds over it.
This may well have been first visit to this kingdom of confectionery, but it won’t be my last.
